Would that then qualify you as a Disney zealot?

The brand loyalty is strong in this one.

Zealot? Maybe. Troll? Definitely. He makes outlandish statements because he's looking for reactions, plain and simple. You don't have to be a Harry Potter fanboy to appreciate Wizarding World as the best themed land in Orlando. I would know, I generally dislike the franchise and still hold that opinion.

Disney has also tried MANY times to "out thrill" Universal and failed miserably. If they can create a better cutting-edge thrill attraction than Spider-Man or FJ, they need to prove it. They aren't getting automatic benefit of the doubt from me.

Wait, so this was a serious question asked by the OP? Oh man, where to start? This might be a reasonable question if you're just talking about the west coast versions but even then Universal has the awesome tram tour (with Kong, original Psycho set, etc), HHN and they're about to get Transformers.

I prefer Men in Black to Buzz Lightyear. The aliens shoot back!

I love Mythos. Decent theme park food for $15 in a sit down place.

I think Poseidon's Fury is a great attraction. I don't know why more people don't like it.

Cat in the Hat is a great dark ride.

Revenge of the Mummy is the best themed coaster.

The Horror Make up show is more entertaining than the Indiana Jones Stunt Show to me.

ET is still the best smelling queue anywhere!

Spiderman is thrilling and unique.

The entire Harry Potter land is amazingly themed. Moaning Myrtle in the bathrooms? Fantastic!

I enjoy both WDW and Universal for what they are.

We went to universal last nov between Disney parks and although we enjoyed the thrill rides and alot of the rides are more modern the service and staffs attitudes were really poor. we also felt every corner we turned we were being pressured into buying photos etc. Although we will be going back for the rides all the time we were there me and my boyfriend kept saying "it just isn't disney" It hasn't got the Disney magic :)

Nemesis! It's just a river with food colouring in it :hammer:
Agreed! :ROFLOL:

You can't help but be impressed by the strides universal have made over the years, its a great resort and worth a visit every trip! Disney and universal are completely different experiences. Disney will always be more magical, nostalgic etc. and the size of the resort will always make it the focal point for most tourist. It doesn't mean Disney can't learn a few things, competition is good!!!! :animwink:

its nice to get out of the Disney bubble once in a while, you might even enjoy it!!

nope... just roller coasters, but that gets old after a few times riding them... AND I don't need to fly all the way to FL to experience roller coasters, we have plenty near MA

Thought I'd throw in my two cents :) Me and my family don't get to visit Disney often, but ever since I was a child, I've watched the films, listened to the music and that's why I love Disney so much. The nostalgia factor is powerful. I well up whenever I find out I'm heading to Disney for a holiday!

That said, I also really enjoy thrill rides. Rip Ride Rockit was so much fun when I first experienced it :) That's why I like both parks, for different reasons. They have different target groups, and that means it's difficult to compare them.

As much as I love Harry Potter, I much preferred the walk through of the castle to the ride. I thought the ride itself was too loud, and I freaked out over the spiders and just kept my eyes closed :/ So I can't really give a thorough review of the ride, I only went on it once and didn't even see the dementor part! :lookaroun

So Universal= thrills. Disney= theming and atmosphere. I guess that's a pretty simple summarisation.

For the spectrums they are in Universal puts more money back into their resort than WDW does. WDW is huge and the number one vacation spot on the planet. It is not too much to ask to fix things or get at least one new major attraction in each park every year.

Universal gets a succesful year last year and gave EVERY level of employee full or part time some sort of bonus. How often do we hear of Disney doing that? Especially since they brag about high numbers and being the number one resort.

In reference to the bold part...overall yes, but it seems like that trend is shifting. You have to refer to Harry Potter here, that area is incredibly immersive. You truly feel like you are walking into the books/movies when you are there. I hope that Disney really has this level of theming in Fantasyland when it opens and in all their projects going forward.

Spiderman and Harry Potter are weak. They're just a bunch of movie screens. Finding Nemo and Gran Fiesta Tour are where it's at.

I'll go for a different tact here. When I was looking at Orlando guidebooks I was thinking, Universal has a better toddler area(with fival, Barney etc) than MK, now that toontown is gone...anyone have input on that?
My daughter goes crazy for Barney and to be able to see a show with him and the little coasters and play areas seem to be better than what MK is left with now, which is what, that pooh area? Now I am not saying I wont go to Disney because overall there is more to see and do and she loves Mickey too.
