Is the clock ticking on the Sorcerer Mickey Hat icon at the Studios? YES!

All they have to do is move it to the other end of the street...by the Ticket Kiosks....and problem Solved...they have two visible icons, the sight lines are restored and all would be well with the world...Or move it into the forecourt at the Animation Building where it would also make sense... But if the clock were indeed ticking, I would think we would see some movement by now...

This posting was first made in May 2009. While the clock ticked indeed. Tick, tock, tick, tock...

EDIT: Coincidentally the first post was made on the 20th anniversary and here we are close to the 25th anniversary. Will this hat be torn down in time for that? What will the events be for the 25th anyway?

From a purely selfish standpoint, I hope they keep the Hat. I ran in the Disney Marathon
in January and one of the photos they took for you was coming down Hollywood Blvd. (I think)
with the Hat in the background. Nice shot!

How about an ABC special. At the end David Blaine makes the hat disappear. :jawdrop:

In The Sorcerer's Apprentice it is not Mickey's hat. Instead it is the object of his prideful and impatient desires. Eager to act, Mickey embarks on a ultimately destructive endeavor he cannot control.
The history and the ups and downs of TWDC are fascinating. I think the BAH symbolizes the extreme power and control TWDC has gained in show business. It also serves to remind us that it was all started by a mouse.

While I agree it needs to go or be moved already, remember all the plans were put on hold for the park because of nextgen, so will probably be another year or two according to what spirit said last I believe. They are clearly in no hurry and arent spending on changes.

Next you'll be telling us Aurora mostly wears blue and other assorted "facts" you get from paying attention to these kiddie movies. As long as it's "Disney" it fits, right?

But it doesn't fit the theme. It is in a theme park.

Plus what are you saying? It symbolizes that Disney can just control everything in Hollywood without opposition, so they could plant a giant corporate symbol in front of a classic Hollywood landmark? Seems quite dystopian...

I think it fits the theme perfectly. Back in Hollywood's "golden era" there were eight major motion picture studios and Walt Disney Productions was not even among the great eight. Yet today TWDC is the undisputed king of media. It didn't happen by luck or accident. TWDC used some brilliant business strategies (very fierce and intense) to get to the top. It's really a celebration of rough and tumble capitalism at its best. The BAH is a symbol of the unmitigated and total commitment TWDC has practiced to become number one. As Martha Stewart would say, "it's a good thing."

Time for these to be seen yet again!!!....beautiful Hollywood themed park as designed by Imagineers in #1, the tacky eyesore we are stuck with today in #2. (even worse when that cruddy makeshift stage is included).

None of which has anything to do with the theme of Hollywood Blvd.
