Is the clock ticking on the Sorcerer Mickey Hat icon at the Studios? YES!

I agree... but they need more kid friendly things in DHS IMO...Star Wars, while cool, isn't for everyone

I do agree with Pixar being in the past... but they could do so many things to some of the older movies they don't have attractions for today

Yea they should do something with Alice In Wonderland since its a proven billion dollar franchise and they can pull from both the classic animated film and the new Burton movies. They have OZ and Tron which are franchises with enormous potential and they have all these new animated films they can build dark rides for like Rapunzel, Frog Princess, etc. but they won't you know why? because Disney is now all about Charging more and offering less.

Is Star Wars really only gonna be a spinner, 3D movie, and speeder bike sim/coaster thing? I was really hoping they would do a lavish Indy style e-ticket with actual sets and Audio Animatronics to compliment Star Tours.
well if they do that... that would probably be an E, D, and b ticket...pretty good...add that to the cantina and you got a winner

While I realize it is a colloquialism, it doesn't sound like anything near "half" the park will be closed in the near future. Or am I crazy? AIE/IJ stunt show might be closed, the former IJ stunt show and the SoA possibly including the Muppets -- that's the short term targets, right? That's a big chunk, but more like a quarter of the park.

It seems like LMA and Backlot Tour are safe for now. I guess maybe the Theater of the Stars (BatB) and the Little Mermaid show might undergo changes, but that's not clear.

I'm just asking because it seemed like actualy half of the park would be closed simultaneously and now the plans seem less expansive.
You're right; it's a colloquialism because many those of us who live here don't think of BATB, Mermaid, or the Backlot Tour as viable things to do.

Half the park will undergo changes, but not all at once.

I'm actually okay with something being done with the SOA. It's really like a ghost area in the park where (to me) you walk down a hot sidewalk past store & home fronts seeing and remember all the things it had originally been designed for. It's too big of a memory of what the park once was and a stark reminder of how badly the place has lost its way.

I'd really rather that Indy get a new home or a new attraction somewhere in the park (Temple of the Forbidden Eye Clone?) and that muppets just be moved as well...but I guess they'll do what they want. I just hate to see a whole bunch of stuff taken off the shelf just for Star Wars. And I'm saying that being a complete fan of Star Wars and everything. I just don't think it'd be balanced to have Star Wars on one end and two totally unrelated thrill rides on the other...

Just my two cents. Take or leave. ;)

Half of DHS will truly be a construction zone within the next 8 months. This has been fast tracked so the announcements will steal a bit of HP2 thunder from Uni. I'm not sure how well that will work, since none of the SW plans are on the level of Gringott's or Forbidden Journey. But I do trust Kathy M.

Really? because I don't. She plays the political game at WDI and is good friends with Vaughn. She joined the team that helped throw Baxter out of the company. And according to LeeMac who actually works with imagineering her work on Cars Land was a mess until Kevin Rafferty and Tom Morris helped her out.

For Star Wars land I would have loved to hear that people like Tony Baxter, Tim Delaney, and Kim Irvine were involved. Oh well I just really hope Fitzgerald doesn't go anywhere near these SW projects.

She's good at working with value-engineered budgets.

I'd like to see Star Wars become more modern in technology. They need to dump the primitive light sabers and use phasers as in Star Trek. It would be great if they'd start using Tricorders as well.

I believe Fitz is Disney Springs lead.

The Disney "Renaissance" is the most overrated thing in Disney history. Without question Pixar's best (like The Incredibles) is better than Lion King or Aladdin. Those are good movies, but not the "masterpieces" Millennials insist they are for nostalgic reasons.

Lion King is one of the best animated movies of all time. That being said so are Toy Story, Nemo, Up and Incredibles.

I think there are a few Pixar films on par, but they aren't entirely the same. They are different in a few ways so comparing them head to head isn't the best.
I think the amount of work that went into Walts films was far greater and more impressive then with the Pixar films. Think of the fluidity of movement of each character in Walt's films. It is on par with the computer generated movement of the PIxar films. Walt's guys had to make that happen by drawing microscopic movements one page at a time. I don't understand as well what goes into created a Pixar film, but I have to believe it is far easier then doing it free hand. Just my opinion.

Is the attraction too huge to fit behind the France WS Pavillion? Just curious, of course adding attractions to Epcot:WS is probably as likely as the Wand making a return at this point.
As a quick off-hand guess, I think the Rat area is as large as the entire WS France pavilion. A huge showbuilding, plus adjoining restaurant, and a nice plaza in front. It would be a shame to just copy-paste the ride itself, without the 'Ratatouille Paris' aspects of it.

A WS ride would be great, but personally I hope any cartoon franchises stay out of WS. France is not the Rataouille version of it. I do hope we get to see a great trackless ride in WDW.

I know Ratatouille has found an audience in France, but it just seems wrong to shove an American film into a place that is supposed to share French culture. World Showcase is not supposed to showcase what Americans have done that involves other countries.

Have to respectfully disagree with this. The Incredibles better than Aladdin or Lion King? No way. I'm a huge fan of animation, and I love Pixar, but the "Renaissance" paved the way for Pixar. BTW, first post! WDWMagic.com is awesome.
