In all seriousness... Was the Hat built to last how many years it has? If it was temporary when designed, was it engineered to sit there that long? Perhaps there's a number of factors to its demise.

Was thinking the same thing. Either a Cozy Cone or place it out where the big Christmas tree normally is in the bus/entrance area.

Wouldn't that be funny if they used for a mini-hat out front, that would make everyone happy!

there are at least two layers of shipping cans full of stuff in this fillspace, i think this is where the 'hazmat'(asbestos remediation, lead paint) goes to rot, on property, oddly enough...

Well it looks more like it was cut off as opposed to unbolted!

Looks like there are seams at the sections all the way down, a spreader bar with a yoke and they can support from the top as it is unbolted/cut loose from the inside. Maybe we will see a reassembly of the hat but how will they transport it out of there in pieces? Wish there was video of the construction.

Well it looks more like it was cut off as opposed to unbolted!

I know this sounds like I'm just trying to be ornery, but, it it has very straight edges so to me that means that it was unbolted for the most part. There may have been weld points and that is what needed to be cut. It also looks like the whole thing is a series of sections and they will come off one at a time until just the opposite of how it was built it will be gone. I wonder if there is any footage anywhere of it being built from beginning to end. Just run it backward and there you have the method to take it apart.

Well, it was hurricane proof. And has been beaten to hell and back by rain.

I believe its been cut.

I just can't tell you how happy this makes me.
My first time at Disney's MGM Studios was 2 weeks after it opened. And that was the last time I saw it without the Sorcerer Mickey Hat. I must say, not having the hat there adds a level of old Hollywood charm and atmosphere that Hollywood Studios should have in the first place.

Seeing the Chinese Theater when you walk in is just going to be so beautiful. So happy.
