New rumor from a bus driver in Boise: the hat is being removed and repainted gray and white, and will be placed next to Everest at Animal Kingdom, representing K2. There it will house a new attraction where park guests can throw quarters at a motionless animatroic Yeti.
lmao!, you guys are in a row today!

then, thats confirmed.. full demo. no transfer or movement.

RIP HAT.
you were loved.. and hated... all because of the dumb position Iger and co decided to put you.
Wasn't the hat eisner's decision? Hat went up in 2001. And eisner wasn't out till like 2004 or something. So if anything this was his mess that just never got cleaned up until now?

Eisner made and left a lot of messes towards the end of his tenure, many of which are still here with no signs of leaving (Leave a Lgacy, DinoRama, Destruction of Communicore and addition of Tarps, etc).

I'd argue expanding the resort too fast was one of the biggest messes he left.

Golden spires gone.

Did a twitter search and found this one from this morning:

And is that a crane in the front, just lowered?

Nice catch!

With all the trees gone from behind the BAH you can start to really see the theater peaking out from behind too. Looks like this removal is progressing fast even though it may not be fast enough for most of us.

Do we know what the real reason behind the removal of the hat is yet? Was it a maintenance, aesthetic, or contract issue? Or, maybe Starbucks said "Oh he[[ no, it's got to go."

Speaking of Starbucks... What are the odds Starring Rolls will be closed once it opens? I heard they were going to allow them to co-exist, but that is not Starbucks style (personal experience)

Yep the serious crane is onsite now.

More photographic proof (per @morgan_pruitt on twitter):

Yeah, it was meant to be there for 15 months. It was way past its time to be removed. With the sponsorship of TCM for the Great Movie Ride, it makes it a good time to shift the focus back to that, and to prepare for the future Studios 2.0.

Yes but my question is was the hat eisners thing or did Bob have something to do with it? Just to clarify.

I don't know for a fact but I'd say it's VERY likely because of the agreement Turner Classic Movies has with Disney in sponsoring the Great Movie Ride. Can't be promoting the Golden Age of Hollywood with the BAH blocking the Chinese Theatre.
