More photographic proof (per @morgan_pruitt on twitter):
That is because most people don't really know a crane from a doughnut. There's nothing wrong with that lack of knowledge. Why would everyone know what construction equipment is labeled. What is seen there is what is more commonly known as a "cherry picker". It is usually a small utility unit that has a basket at that end and it used to lift people to high areas to get things, in this case, lighting fixtures from above that need to come down. They can also do some light weight lifting service of placement or removal of items. But a serious crane, it isn't. That will come soon though, so stay tuned.why they call it the "serious crane" ?

I guess if they decide to take it down by disassembly of the structure piece by piece then just like when they built it. most of it can come down with that type of equipment. I'm not sure what they used to put the very top on it though.
Maybe she was making a joke herself?In somewhat related news, I saw a girl posted something on Twitter saying, " still upset they're replacing the hat at Hollywood studios with a giant Olaf... And that is not okay . "....See how rumors spread this quickly? Maybe people are just dumb enough to believe a joke is the truth? I guess the majority of people don't care about sources? Beats me..
I doubt it. People nowadays will believe anything that's on the Internet.Maybe she was making a joke herself?

Well, doing a simple search I found a thread that is similar to that. It's not construction though, but rather the official beginning of the Dark Ages:So I'm not 100% on how old these forums are. Is there a construction of the BAH thread? I'm guessing it went like this;
Oh hey, there are some walls around Mickeys nose planter. I wonder what they're doing to.... oh my word, what the ninnymuggins is that blue thing? Wait, it's getting bigger!! How dare they obscure the theatre! Oh relax, it's only for 15 months.
15 years later.... DIE HAT DIE!!
Interesting construction pictures though. Thank you for posting them. Someone should composite them all together so we can see it go up, then down.
Tram drivers are probably worse. If it was moved to Fantasmic it would just ruin another classic Hollywood style street and take away glory from another nice structure.I have seen many people comment about the giant Olaf thats replacing the hat. And that the hat is moving to Fantasmic. The bus driver told them.

OK, if you say so. As this progresses it will become more clear to both of us.That is not a cherry picker, that is a proper crane. Appears to be something like this...
