Lol heck you, me, a saws all, and my buddies pickup and we could have that sucker down over a weekend!!! Ill even do it for free!!! Only condition is we get to keep the scrap:D

They really missed a trick by not having an upcharge event where people could pay to come and smash up the hat, and take chunks of it home. I'm sure it would have sold better than any soiree or dessert party!

It didn't go up overnight. It won't come down overnight. It's also one of the first budgeted projects of the new year for that park...and God knows what's coming to that park next...I'm content to be patient...if they were going to reassemble it (which i doubt!) we're talking close to the end of this year before all of it would be done!

Best just wait and see and hope!

and one small detail about the actual hat's design I DO hate...those cartoon hands and the ears...a little bit cheesey...

It still baffles me that people think a new icon is being constructed.... They are returning to the original Hollywood Blvd view. End of story. At most it'll be a permanent platform for a stage area. Or a planter like it originally was.

The residents that live near the Hollywood sign want to get rid of it. It is such a compelling icon that it draws thousands of people a day that want to view it up close. Rumor has it that Disney might be willing to do the residents a favor and remove the sign for them. I wonder what Disney would do with such an iconic and very historic sign? http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/war-hollywood-sign-pits-wealthy-761385

The problem with removing the Hollywood sign at this point is it's basically an historical landmark. I could see disney recreating it for DHS and in the process hiding a large show building under said fake hill but realistically I don't see it happening.

but its only a portion of the complete Hollywoodland sign that was originally erected...
