It was 20 years from when it was purchased so they could start disappearing on October 1st 2019. Also when they were purchased you agreed that they could be moved anywhere on WDW property. I don't see them moving them though.

I counted 15 to 20 years from 1999, when LAL opened. Ugh. I hope you're not right. hahah

A bit like 'One Man's Dream' over at DHS, but of course containing all EPCOT related memorabilia.

That was a fine little showroom they had set up for the 25th.

Wow, when we were down there in December it was an over-cast day. I didn't realize how crappy the blue panels on the BAH really were. So many are dull and lost all color. Yuk

Last time I was there I looked through the slit of the door all of the signs are still up after they removed that backdrop during the time they moved the Character spot there temporarily..

I'm willing to bet that the BAH is coming down not because of the likes of us (that don't care for it) but rather that it needed more work than it was worth, perhaps in maintenance - or Disney has something else up their sleeves... Just a hunch.

As for the tombstones @ EC, ugh. The sooner those ridiculous things go away, the better. I say screw the "legacy" and just refund everyone so they can haul 'em out starting tomorrow! Who's with me?!

I sort of agree with the hat coming down because it probably needed work and wasn't worth it, but at the same time, it's been said over the years that any plan to renovate DHS has included the hat removal. That's going back a while too, so who knows? Maybe it was also the sponsorship of TCM for the Great Movie Ride that finally pushed it. The timing would lead me to believe that was a part of the deal, but that's just my speculation.

I am so happy that I was able to open up WDWMAGIC and read "The Sorcerers Hat is now walled off for removal". A great day in Disney History.

Yesterland's site states this.
You can no longer purchase a square on the Epcot Legacy Sculpture, but the monument itself will remain where it is until at least 2027.

That gives them 5 years to get them down and fix the entrance for the 50th.

I agree. I think it was already a possibility, and the TCM thing pushed it into reality.

I think it's more likely because of the sponsorship tie-in of Turner Classic Movies and Great Movie Ride. Can't promote the golden age of Hollywood movies with a hat blocking the Chinese Theatre. The Chinese Theatre alone screams old Hollywood.
