She retired. Remember? (Meg joke)

If they could, they would have to file a permit to do it and from what I have been reading that hasn't been done. Also if it is sitting on concrete where does it lower too? It's not like it has a basement with Florida's water table just a few feet below the surface.

If that's the case, maybe it's just a raised dais and that's it. I'd be fine with that.

I'll take your word for the castle stage being able to lower, but also remember that MK was built up higher then the rest. Where you walk in MK is the second floor, it might be possible to do that, but, if I recall the stage at MK is much higher then they could make one in DHS. That gives them room to do that in MK, if they do. I don't recall the entire stage lowering though. Could be, I have never paid that much attention to it.

How long do they have to wait after filing a permit? Is it possible that they could file a permit during destruction of the hat for the construction of the stage? A retractable stage or even a well designed stage could look nice in the area (just please no overhead anything)... but then again my last trip was in 2010 and everything looks different on Google Maps...

The park closed at 7, guys....Anybody know if the demolition crew is starting on it yet?
(Wishful thinking)

I was out in front of the hat watching all the goings-on, tears, and celebrating until around 8:40 or so. All that happened while I was there was the removal of the trash cans from the raised pin shop area. I'll be back in the park for rope drop to see what progress was made overnight.

How big was the crowd around the hat at closing?

Quite large. Fantasmic was at 7, as well. So after that let out, there was a crowd of them going to hat for photos. Guests kept coming from every direction. Plus, there was the 7:05 Frozen Singalong, and all the guests still in the queues at closing. When I left, the hat area was pretty much empty, but the back areas of the park were not officially clear, from what park officials told me.

Maybe this is an overly proud and bold statement...however...I cannot wait for all these hat fanboys to get a good look at the view down the main drag once things are finally set right...I hope they finally can understand...

Meanwhile...inside the Great Movie Ride...

RIP BAH

You were a novelty, and we giggled. Then the next time we saw you, we gave a half-hearted reluctant chuckle, while thinking, "Shouldn't that have been gone by now?"

The next time, it was downright disgust. "Why is that giant cartoon hat still blocking the view of the perfect replica of the Chinese Theater? Why would they do such a thing? This hat has got to come down, just like that stupid wand."

And so on, and so on. Meanwhile the ages of kiddies were introduced to Disney's Hollywood Studios, and the memories of the Disney-MGM Studios were fading away in the minds of us "legacy visitors". Those memories slowly fade away, along with real TV production, a real backlot tour, a real backlot, and now any tour.

But alas, the day has come to put the wrench and torch to the giant Sorcerer hat, and bring the monstrosity down to the ground...and restore that one fantastic view.

All the kiddies can learn to appreciate the view, and realize the craftsmanship skills that were utilized in 1989.
