Is the clock ticking on the Sorcerer Mickey Hat icon at the Studios? YES!

They could start some prep on the 5th, walls, removing the pins, but don't expect anything significant until after marathon weekend, which would be the 12th.

ohhhh and forgot to add that the hat will be moved to in front of the entrance to the park out beside the tram departure area...
I don't believe this at all. Disney said it was being removed. Not relocated. They would have said that in the press release if that were true to save a lot of headache and complaints. Plus the hat is being removed from all merchandise.

i spoke with a disney employee who worked the hat and this was 3 days ago he told me feb 15. thats when its being removed for good. not trolling but thats the judgement date thats being looked at.

CM's are a VERY unreliable source of information. If they work at the hat then I would expect them to know the last day they are scheduled to work there, but nothing beyond that would be reliable. Since a notice of commencement has already been issued for the demolition I would be surprised to see them wait that long to start.

i was charger1 however i couldnt remember my password:rolleyes: so i created a new account also i very much doubt that they would not tell a disney employee the exact date. the guy was still earning his magic ears very nice guy

A brand new CM would be one of the worst sources of information.

So we have been told Jan 5 and Feb 15 by people claiming to have inside information. Jan 5 makes more sense to me since the permits are already filed and that is the day after the holiday weekend.
I really hope it is Jan 5 because my vacation is on Feb 4 and I am hoping it will be down by then.

Unless these dates are posted on the cast members hub ... it's all just speculation, even from the cast member. I'm sure you trust that person and I'm sure they believe that information but it doesn't make it accurate (or inaccurate, to be fair). I suppose in maybe this case the dates COULD be known but I think we would have heard something from one of our insiders here.

This kinda makes sense if you look at it from the right perspective. There is a lot of work on the ground that needs to be done including removing the pin store, landscaping and an enormously large amount a of concrete to get to the foundation of the hat. Once this is exposed taking the hat down can commence. The way I look at it January 5th the walls will go up and then February 15th the hat will start to come down.

What is going on that week?

It's Presidents' Day week. Most of the schools in the North East are on break that week....and it's generally very crowded down there that week.

Because contractors don't care about tourist seasons.

That's all well and good, but the contractor doesn't demand the time table. The client (Disney) does. You can't sit there and tell me they would start a major demolition project during Christmas/New Years week....and they are reportedly avoiding the start of the hat demo during marathon weekend....yet they pick the next busiest time period. Doesn't compute...but regardless, you can't claim this is beyond disney's control when they clearly controlled the start of this to avoid two other high traffic park times. Sorry.

Is there really another slow time of the year that they could possibly do this? I don't think so. It's always busy there now. They have to do it sometime and I am sure that they would prefer not to do it during December.
