Is the clock ticking on the Sorcerer Mickey Hat icon at the Studios? YES!

Ugh, I hate to be 'that guy' to ask this question, because I know someone will just parrot the permit expiration date as anytime between now and then....

But does anyone have an idea when they plan to actually start work on removing the BAH and how long it will take once started?

It seems to me that a night crew can remove it in a week - especially if they have little interest in preserving the pieces....but I fully expect TDO to take 6 months to remove it. Regardless, I'm asking out of selfish reasons as I plan to be down there in mid-february and this, combined with all of the other closures in DHS has me thinking we might want to avoid the park or at least split it with AK. Any help appreciated!!!

Likely to start soon after the holidays. In the real world, it's a 2-week demolition project, with another 1-2 weeks of utility relocation and pavement/planter installation. For Disney, double that...so we're probably looking at nearly 2 months of construction.

Or more. I don't see this being completed earlier than late March or early April.

This was probably already asked, but will the spires be returning to the Chinese Theater? I know one of them was/is retractable for SITK, but from an Imagineer's perspective, that's not exactly a detail you can overlook once the BAH is gone.
I'd hope so, seeing that they're vital parts of the facade...

....but part of me thinks that today's Disney won't even realize they're gone unless someone knows about their absence or TCM has them put them back up.

I think they should make a thematic event of the BAH demise like the old hotels in Vegas.

An ironic approach could be Elsa with a flame thrower. Think of the Ying and Yang, Alpha and Omega conflict.

An in character approach would be to pipe liquid nitrogen to the peak of the hat. Have Elsa cast her spell. Then have a pre-installed pneumatic hammer hit the hat and shatter into millions of pieces. All accompanied with lights and lasers. The resulting vapor from the nitrogen would make for a fabulous backdrop for the lasers.

Or in "Cards Against Humanity" speak: A bigger, bluer Hat. ;)

As someone with Balderdash in their avatar and that just mentioned Cards Against Humanity, I think you and I need to be friends. I want to play a Cards Against Humanity game where each player writes an answer out like in Balderdash instead of selecting from a stack of cards.
