Is Stitch's Great Escape REALLY that bad?

The restraints are there for a reason and not to restrain you. When the alien was walking over you, or Stitch is jumping on you in the dark, the restraints press down on your shoulders to simulate the feeling of being jumped on.

The do a pretty good job of keeping non-brain functioning Guests from standing up and trying to leave the attraction in the dark, possible hurting themselves and others, but, you are right most of the effects are located in the restraints. It was a very clever design, but, so totally unrecognized by most bewildered guests. I guess that is what makes Disney different, not everything comes with an operations manual, you just go and experience it, try to see it for what it is (a show) and leave for the next one. The thing is way overthought by most.

The only things that bother me about the attraction is the horribly outdated 90210 reference and the "smell"(you'll find out what that's about). One thing that's really fun is going and seeing who's on it for the first time based on the folks that try to pull the harnesses down.....

I think the preshow is cute if you like Stitch. The actual attraction..meh. Not my favourite, but I don't hate it.

Yes, it is bad. It is obvious (even if you don't know WDW attraction history) that the Stitch attraction is a replacement because the storyline is not very good and rather pointless.

I rode it a couple of times, my issue was that some kids got upset when it got dark, and the restrained parents couldn't comfort them, that and the disgusting smell.

Did it for the first time ever last trip... Terrible ride...Also, when the CM says no flash, please stop taken pictures...Good lord it happened 10 times...

The restraints aren't a problem if you just stop them from coming down further than you want. That's what I did and it was fine.

The first time I went on it I actually got that trapped in a dark room with a criminal type feel, obviously that somewhat diminishes in subsequent rides but I still enjoy it. I don't know whether its because I'm of a fairly normal build but I wouldn't describe anything close to pain because of the restraints.

The attraction is bad, especially since it replaced Alien Encounter which was actually a good attraction and scary as well, too bad Stitch got shoehorned in there because the story line was also shoehorned in to do a refurb on the cheap

I really don't think that there was anything cheap about those animatronics and effects. Granted there are limited things that can go in there due to the configuration of the building, but, really... it's not all that bad. Alien was a good attraction but way to scary for MK, in my opinion. Actually, I can't say that I even found it scary, but, I am all grown up so, it takes a lot of fantasy to scare me anymore.

The only thing they spent money on was the Stitch animatronic, other than that they really didn't do anything to the place, everything else was left over from Alien Encounter including the preshow AA's

The rest of it was spent on getting Richard Kind to voice Sarge.

Is it ever explained why you are in "restraints" on the ride. Maybe I missed the explanation. I was waiting for them to say that we were taking off into space and needed restraints or something.

I only go on Stitch late at night when the wait time is minimal. But sit up nice and tall when the restraints come down you'll be much more comfortable!

I think it's safe to say that most park visitors hate this ride. It needs...to be stopped. And I am that man to stop it.
