Is Stitch's Great Escape REALLY that bad?

I've only rode it once - it was actually the last ride we went on the last trip we took. We were leaving, happened to walk by it, looked at each other and said "Meh, why not?" It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be based on what other people have said. It was okay. But in a park where I so badly want all the rides to be spectacular and awesome, "okay" doesn't really work for me...so I hope they gut it and put something more appropriate for Tomorrowland in. (Don't ask me what that would be, I don't really have any ideas.)

I think it's safe to say that most park visitors hate this ride. It needs...to be stopped. And I am that man to stop it.
Like the Starbucks issue it is anything but "safe to say" that most park visitors hate this ride. I doubt if even 25% of guests hate it. Some are not overwhelmed by it... but, hate is a pretty strong word and in my opinion it takes someone with little to no sense of humor to even strongly dislike it. Even that isn't a "safe to say" statement.

Just a question... what, at this point in time, is more tomorrow then aliens living with us on the planet? All the weird folks that I know are from France** (or at least that's what they say)

Are you the mastermind behind SGE by any chance?

Nope... just a person of differing opinions about things. If it makes people happy they can hate all they want. Seems kind of something that is anti-Disney, but, hey.. what do I know. What this is really about is that if someone doesn't like something, all they have to do is walk past it and allow those that do enjoy it, continue to enjoy it. If anything ever gets to the point that everyone is absolutely giddy about everything in the place, I hope I live long enough to see it.

Seriously? You haven't stood in front of SGE shaking your fist in anger screaming "DIE! DIE! DIE!"?? That is literally all I do.

For me this should be the next ride to get replaced at MK. Not sure what they can replace it with since it's in tomorrowland.

HAHAHA that is an excellent point. Very true. And it made me laugh first thing in the morning, so well done.

I guess I would like to see something less movie/character based and more original. Again, no idea what that would be, and yes I know that is extremely vague and not helpful. The park tie-ins don't bother me, I'm not one to complain about princesses taking over the parks or Disney shamelessly promoting whatever the next summer blockbuster is with a Meet and Greet. But when I think "future" I guess I don't think "blue cartoon alien." (Although maybe I should, perhaps the world would be a better place? I dunno.)

Took my family on SGE, oh... probably three years ago.
I'd estimate my boys were 9 or 10 years old. (twins)
We look for the magic in all Disney attractions and are not nit pickers.
What left us flat with SGE is that we were expecting it to really be something.
We knew absolutely nothing about it going in, but especially given that there are restraints on the seats - we were expecting movement.
We thought we would be wowed.
But, considering the big build up, nothing really happens.

I rode this once and had no idea what was happening. It was my first visit thought we where going to spin horrible

Yes, I thought at the very least we were in some type of simulator that would be rocking, tipping or something.
We wouldn't have had such expectations had the room been a theatre.
But, in my experience - ride restraints equal ride movement.
As for the chili dog burp?
It's was the most fun part of the show.

They bolted Stitch into an existing attraction. They adjusted it, but it really should have been started with a blank sheet of paper. The character itself is barely seen, and the thrill of the old attraction is gone. Sound familiar? This is what they are doing to Maelstrom with Frozen.

I always find it strange that so many people refer to this Attraction as 'a ride'.
It's more of a show, as your don't really 'ride' anything.
Just a observation i have noticed over the years with this particular one......

Anyway, i guess i am really in a minority in the fandom as i LIKE this Attraction.
I like it , primarily for it's very impressive Animatronic characters.
As a big fan of this form of animation and performance staging, i go to enjoy 'Stitch's Great Escape' each visit to watch the fluid performance movements of the three main AA characters, 'Sarge', little Skippy and Stitch.
The star of the Show, Stitch, is an even more impressive AA when you consider all that he does and the size restrictions involved..especially that huge head !
I guess you can tell i am looking at this Attraction with very 'different eyes' then your typical thrill-seeking Guest.
If you are a real fan of Animatronics i highly recommend making time for this.

I will add however that 'Stitch's Great Escape' really needs to be seen when it has had proper Show maintenance done on it.
I've seen many showings over the last few years where many of the effects and the robotic blaster guns were off-line and not fully operational.
Also, the last few times i experienced the attraction the stereo sound effects were not working properly in the seats i was using as well as the scents.
When things like that are missing, the original dynamic for the Show is lost.

Even with just a couple of these things missing, it really hurts the overall experience.
I remember when the Attraction first opened, and everything was working.
Made for a neat little novel experience.
It was fun to pretend Stitch had 'escaped' into the room, as when everything was working as intended, it was easy to believe.
The little things really do add up.
It has been some time since i have seen this Show with everything working, but i have not been back to WDW since January of 2013.
So i can understand if Guests seeing this Show today are being disappointed.....chances are you are not even getting the REAL intended experience!

If you have small children that are afraid of the dark, loud noises, and enclosed spaces i would wait until they are older to experience this.
As others have likely already mentioned here, this Attraction has a notorious reputation for scaring small children and in some cases, unnerving adults.

It is a staged show...where you sit in seats that restrain you info a upright sitting position to observe the center attraction, Stitch in all his Animatronic glory.
The restrained seats are enough to unnerve some....you would know best.

The seats are stationary, and during the presentation their are no movements, rocking, rolling, or the like.
Certainly no G-forces, either!
It is a 'sensory' experience with stereo-effect sounds very close to your ears, smells ( if working..) and sights.
Not a 'ride' at all, more a staged presentation.
Think of 'The Enchanted Tiki Room'...but gone totally wrong.
Still fun to experience at least once.

The AAs are still mighty impressive to see however.
As i said earlier, if you are fan of Animatronics SEE THIS Show !
:)

yeah the animatronics are superb but so are the sfx in the "transformers" movies. it's a glorified tech demo, with a poor storyline, bad voice acting, and no idea what audience it wants to draw in. it's just so weird that it's managed to stay open for over 10 years
