Is Splash Mountain holding up?

The tiki room at Disneyland in 2004 got all brand new AA's because they couldn't restore full movement to them. That's something I doubt Splash will ever get.

true. I sort of wonder where technology has taken us with advancements in better preserving the characters that would be made in new attractions with large water elements. last one ican really think of was Dudley do right, it made me weep for humanity.

then again the fact Disney hasn't dared change splash given it can't really sell the movie due to its content I'm still thankful for. I'm a little bit surprised they havent tried turning splash into something involving "where's my perry" or "where's my water" and gutting the whole thing

From the latest videos, it doesn't look like there are any serious problems if any so far from what I could tell. At least animatronic wise, and most if not all of the water features in the Laughing Place seem to work (can't tell whether the fountains that jump over the boats are working but all other water features appear to function perfectly). Granted I can only go by what i've seen in videos so far until I ride again (which may end up being in a week or two as my mom wants us to drive up to WDW for her birthday), but it still seems to be in good condition thus far from my limited viewing of videos.

In fact, a couple of animatronic figures that were either missing (chicken on the riverboat) or non working (Mr Bluebird) when the ride first reopened are working in newer videos of the ride. I'll take a closer look if and when I end up going on it personally soon and report what I see, but so far I don't see much to worry about JUST yet. And the fact that a couple of missing or non-working figures were corrected even AFTER the refurb was finished is a somewhat more reassuring sign than the usual crap WDW maintenance pulls.

Correct me if i'm wrong though. I'll probably be visiting around the 20th for a few days. I know Splash Mountain like the back of my hand and it will be pretty easy for me to notice anything serious that is wrong with it. One of my favorite rides and I went on it ever since it first opened.

You've provided some fantastic maintenance reports on attractions in the past, particularly the issues Big Thunder had soon after reopening. Do you have anything on the latest status of Splash Mountain's condition and how its effects are holding up so far? Much appreciated if you do, would also give me an idea as to what expectations I should have if I end up taking a trip up there soon.

In the latest vid posted, the Br'er Bear with the bee hive on his nose was stationary. Only his head and right arm were moving.

I can kind of see what you mean, difficult to tell given how fast the boat passes by and the camera lingers on him (it's difficult to make out how much of the figure moves in the old video when the ride first opened too actually). Though I still wouldn't worry until it remains that way for a bit of time. People have reported issues with the ride such as the water at the laughing place being turned off (and stationary Mr Bluebird), but they seem to have been fixed soon afterwards

And we don't actually know when exactly this video was taken either. After the refurb certainly, but it could have been taken at any time. Upload date doesn't necessarily mean that was the exact date it was taken. Unless we get some more people in here who rode it within the past few days to confirm the figure is still broken, the issue could have just been a minor one that was fixed soon afterwards. I'd only worry seriously if it remains broken for a long period of time.

I'll probably be at WDW in a little over a week and will be able to report some things about the state of Splash then.

I'm not defending this stuff obviously, I'm just as hateful towards this crap as you and i've expressed my distaste for broken ride elements on these forums numerous times. But I can tell you that even back when the ride first opened and I rode it back then, certain show elements would break every so often. Sometimes for a day, sometimes slightly longer. The hopping rabbit effect being one, as well as the projection effects used throughout. The difference is that they never stayed broken for long (usually a day or so at worst), and that has certainly changed. But lets see whether these new issues remain that way before assuming anything here. I was doubtful the refurb would turn out as awesome as it did, so i'll give them at least a few days to correct something that could potentially just be a temporary problem. May have been a fluke that was quickly fixed. We'll see.

I've let this drop off the radar. I've heard no bad news which is a good thing. I'm actually looking forward to finding out myself in a few months.

Ah ok, thanks. I hope it's still good news for the ride as well. I'll post up my impressions on its condition if my mom and I make it up there for her birthday, and you can post yours later when you go a few months from now. Yours should give us a good idea of the long term state of things. Hopefully there's nothing bad to report either time though.

I was on Splash on Wednesday and it looked better than I've seen it in years. Everything was working, audio was great - it was just awesome. I could have overlooked something, but everything I saw looked great and sounded great. It was awesome.

We've canceled our WDW trip due to being very busy at the moment and wanting to save up for Disneyland instead (hopefully and maybe elsewhere as well), so you guys will have to wait for Martin's report in a few months. Maybe someday i'll be able to make it to Tokyo Disneyland lol!

Judging from the last few videos posted, Br'er Frog singing "Ev'erybody's got a Laughin' Place" is once again having sync problems. Shame. He was working well the past couple months. It sounds so bad and it is very noticeable when he is not in sync.
Sources:
@ 4:17. When the song loops he loops as well in this vid. His problem is from prematurely looping his audio.

This is happening too often to be a coincidence, one of my biggest problems with splash has returned. :(

What was wrong with that video?
@ 3:19 far right frog off
@ 3:49 Br'er Porcupine's neck fur isn't properly attached to his body.
@ 4:06 Br'er Fox's body isn't moving, just his head and arms.
@ 4:27 Br'er Frog's singing is out of sync.
@ 6:58 Br'er Bear isn't rolling around. Only moving his arms and head.
@ 8:15 No jumping fountains.
@ 12:17 the bottom strip of lights on the boat are not on.

Most likely came loose from the daily routine, or maintenance didn't properly reattach it but that is unlikely.

I left WDW on Monday and it seemed everything was in working order. The day before the ride stopped working for 20 min right as we were the next car to go down the big drop!!!
