Is Rock 'N' Roller Coaster still going down?

IF this is going ahead why are there still no official news from Disney? If The RNRC crew know why dont we? It's seems odd they are willing to announce the BTM rehab in October but skip the RNRC announcement about a month before it!

Bad service? Thats a yes!

Ugh, this is such a bummer. I wish I'd known about this one; my husband is a roller coaster junkie and we're going the week after Labor Day. I'm really disappointed in Disney on this.

I think your missing the point here. Many fans who are going at this time are frustrated at the lack of prior notice given by Disney about the rumored down time. People dont have a problem with rides going down for a good old rehab, most fans embrace that. What they dont like, me included is the rather lack attitude on behalf of Disney about giving guests GOOD notice about closures. They gave good notice on everything this year, HM, BTMR and SSE. What makes RNRC any different?

The length of the rehab, specifically. Should Disney put up a notice if a ride is going to close for a single day? A week? Two weeks? There's a point at which it makes sense to notify prospective guests as to an attraction's closure, and while you may think a month's closure warrant's such a notice, Disney clearly does not. I have reason to believe that part of this is because the work that needs to be done isn't finalized, and some work items may not take the full time needed, or may not need to be done at all.

Its reasonable to be disappointed that RNRC will be closed for your vacation, but its not reasonable to hold Disney to the expectation that a notice must be given for every ride that may be closed during your vacation.

The launch system is fine and will not be replaced in this rehab, maybe just a little tweaking that's all. If there was an issue with the launch system, the ride would not be running.

Seconded. It's not that anyone wants the rides to never go down and forever be unsafe/outdated, it's just nice to know these things while planning trips. Some folks (me) can't afford to take my family to Disney very often, so when something is down, it's a big deal and a huge disappointment - it's just good to know in advance.

I think it's completely reasonable... and Disney does too, hence the 1+ month notice of rehabs and closures. I've always been aware of rehabs well in advance of my arrival... even it was a week long or 3 month long rehab. Our expectations are due to Disney's past record of rehabs... so how are we unreasonable? Shame on me I guess for expecting the same level of service I've recieved over the years...

I don't know what to expect really... just would like to know either way!

I agree. If I am not mistaken ( and I know that I will be corrected if I am...) refurbs are announced way in advance. I doubt with it already being the beginning of August would they all of a sudden put out RNRC refurb for 9/5 unless there was something in dire need of repair.

Well said! :)

I think the major point that people are missing too is that the people who have planned to go have, at this point, very well planned their vactions, meaning ADRs that they may want to change.. lets say for instance you have decided to visit MGM on the 5th, have ADRs and whoops.... RnRC is closed that day... ok so you reschedule MGM for an earlier day & change your ressies so you get to enjoy it while it is open. The longer Disney waits to announce a rehab the harder this will be to do.
No one is saying don't fix it or rehab it.... are you disappointed if it is down? Yes!
Is it unreasonable to want to plan your vacation around it if you can? No!

Yeah rehabs are announced a few months in advance. I guess what is really annoying many here is that this rumor has been around for months now and we are still yet to hear it from Disney. You only have to look at the website to see that they announced the BTMR rehab earlier this month and it was two months away at the time. Heck, they even gave us two months notice for Astro Orbiter. Anything less for RNRC is considered by many to be a foul shot...I mean this rumor wont go away. Can someone at Disney please tell us whats going on!

Please, its not asking to much is it?

I guess I've been on too many trips where there were unannounced rehabs/refurbs. It was nice to learn about them ahead of time, as we *occasionally* did, but it was never the expectation.

If the rumor is certain as this is stated to be,for so long.. it is not unreasonable for it to be announced.
IMHO

I just feel bad for people who do plan a vacation on some look forward to a certain attraction when they visit. But it is under rehab and they are sad about that. I know several people with there first trip the mansion was down several years ago and they missed out on it.

Haha that's hilarious and VERY true! I mean come on people Disney can't work around everyone's schedule, even if the refub isn't on Disney's schdule, it could just be a last mintue refurb during the least busiest time of year!! btw dave2822 I love your picture of the old epcot center!!
