My wife desperatly wants to eat in the castle, but meals there are so expensive. Do you guys think its worth it to go just for desert meaning is the value, quality, and variety good or are we just likely to be left disappointed? Thanks.

Cinderella's Royal Table is a price-fix meal. You don't have the option of just getting dessert. You pre-pay for the entire "experience."

The price is as high as it is because of the novelty of eating inside the castle.

I miss the old days of the non fixed prices. I actually have not been to the castle for meals since those times. I find it even hard to get ressies since then.

We haven't bothered to eat at the Castle since our last dinner with the Girl Scout Troop in 2007. The food was over priced, we had a large group 36, we actually felt our service was quite rushed and hurried over. We miss the old days and if we did go back, I'd opt for the breakfast instead of the dinner. But that's just a personal pref.

Not worth it unless you have never been or you want to go for the atmosphere. Same quality food you can get anywhere else, and the last couple of times, the service has been sub par.

The food for lunch is superior, but for the price, you better be going for all the pampering and the characters and the photos, etc.

I remember going some time ago, and being able to walk up at lunchtime and get a dinner reservation. The menu was limited, but not prix-fix. We passed because there was no character interaction. Back then the waiters were just ordinary waiters.

I'm sorry we passed only because I can not make an accurate comparison now.

You can't just go for Dessert - it's prefixed. I personally think it is worth going for a meal every once and while. The food is not the best in the World but the experience is something magical! :sohappy:

I think, for the most part, that the food is good for most of the Character Meals - they are buffet meals so you know the food is made in large quantities so it's not gourmet - but it is good. Some are better then others. I don't like Akerhaus for dinner but that is the kind of food - not the quality of how it is made. But i've been to Crystal Palace lots of times and it has always been good. And i've been to CRT once and the food was good. Again - its no Le Cell or anything - but it is good. Especially at CRT, it's the experience - it's pure magic!

For the price, and the experience we got when eating there wont be back anytime soon, for the same price I would rather go back 50's diner three times.

Is this true for Crystal Palace as well? Because I ate there only recently and thought it was awesome, characters and all.

The Crystal palace is ok, but Im not a huge fan of their lunch and dinner offerings to begin with. I find most character/breakfast buffets to be much better, including CP.

I have to agree with the add the characters comment. I think it was awesome when they had the Princess breakfast. It was reasonably priced and a fun, something special to do. The last dinner we had was a large group and the service was sub par. Even with kids I don't want a character meal every single night (esp. when you go for more than one week). Sometimes you want to sit, relax and talk to your family. I know the character meals are nice, it gives you a chance to get the photos and autographs w/o standing in long lines in the hot sun. But sometimes its nice to just sit down to dinner. I think that is one of the reasons we appreciate dinner at Le Cellier so much. That, and the fact that kids can actually order a steak for dinner instead of being forced to eat chicken strips and mac n cheese.
