Is Innoventions really needed anymore?

Is this really goingto be re-hashed again?:brick::dazzle::zipit: Wasn't there a HUGE thread about this vary issue not to long ago?:hammer:

Well, here on WDWMagic, we need at least one of these threads each month where we can vent our beliefs and opinions about how Epcot has become misguided over the years. If threads like this don't interest you, its probably a good idea to stay clear of them.

Am I to assume that you have knowledge of some CIA engineered nurotoxin that has been released into the worlds oceans that will kill all the clown fish thereby eliminating them from the future?

An since we are on the subject.....How does a royal purple psudodragon fit into future world?

Well the last time I checked we didn't have a machine that brought us into the imagination so it could work like that I guess:shrug:

I agree with the folks who said that Innoventions is extremely relevant. And it looks like they're doing a pretty good job keeping it updated. It would be impossible to keep it at the bleeding edge of technology, but I believe that Innoventions is about showing how innovative technology and concepts are affecting or will affect our lives.

Of course, if Disney had a Chuck-Norris-roundhouse-kickingly awesome idea for something to replace Innoventions, then I'm not averse to losing it. But if they were to just convert half or all of it into more retail space (because you know, there just aren't enough places in Disney World where you can buy a Mickey Mouse t-shirt) then I'd have a problem.

But what does Nemo have to do with Future World?
:fork:
They should also open it up again. Skylights and windows. I know they are in there!

:ROFLOL:
:fork: for you too. :D

Skylights work wonders.

Yeah...a fish is a terrible fit in a pavilion about the sea. I still can believe they have cars in a pavilion about the automotive industry. What are the smoking at WDI?
How's it Futuristic?:lookaroun

He's the imbodiment of Imagination, which in turn, creates the future through innovation, creativity, and what about science...science...science...;)

This thread didn't even start out on this path! It'd be pretty hard to ignore it considering the title of the thread dosn't have to do with Nemo but with Innoventions.

Like I said I didn't bring Nemo up the Pro Nemo crowd can't justify Nemo being in TLS besides that he is popular. It is their only argument and they just can't come up with anything better.

What other reason do they need? Just so you know WDW is a business. Their primary concern is to put paying customers in the parks and keep them happy and buying overpriced merchandise. If they can sneak in a little education in the process fine but it is not their primary concern. TLS was damn near a dead pavilion and Nemo brought it back to life. Sure, I liked the Sea Base Alpha theme better than the Nemo overlay but considerably more WDW guests like the Nemo version better. Most of WDW paying customers could care less about the cohesive theming and "Does Nemo fit in future world?" arguments. They go to WDW to enjoy themselves and not to pick every attraction apart down to the most minuscule detail and question every single decision WDI or TDO makes. TLS before Nemo was a snooze fest but all for the geekiest Epcot fans.

But that's just the thing...Disney is better than that. They do things thematically BEYOND the usual "make money" causes. It's classier, that way, to let the money maker fit the theme, purpose, and area. Doesn't make it seem like a blatant push for plush sales.

I wouldn't have a problem with Nemo if it were handled right. The Nemo-themed educational stuff in the Seabase, that's very well-done. It uses popular animated characters to help educate kids about the marine environment.

What annoys me about the ride is that it's nothing but Marlon bleating "Nemo! Where are you, Nemo?" over and over and OVER and OVER. If it was Mr. Ray taking the kids on an educational tour of the reef, I wouldn't mind it so much.

Change isn't always a good thing. SUre business wise they are making Money but putting Nemo in TLS was taking the easy way out. They could have fixed it oter ways because even though he is a fish he doesn't belong in Future World. I actually like the dark ride but it should have gone in DHS or DAK.

The bottom line is they had to do something with the pavilion. If I am not mistaken, due to having one of the largest aquariums in the world, it is incredibly expensive to operate and Disney can simply not have their most expensive pavilion to operate devoid of guests. Could they have done something different? Sure. There is almost always more than one solution to a problem but Nemo was an obvious fit for the pavilion. As much as we might not like to admit it, character integration and thrill rides will bring guests and their wallets into a pavilion. While Nemo might not fit into future world you can not argue the fact that he fits into the Seas. I would much rather have the seas with Nemo than have the pavilion go the way of WOL.

In retrospect wouldn't you have rater seen WOL get a character layover and stay open vs it becoming a special events pavilion?

Only in terms of the topic...not the theme, which is one of the future, and our stake in it.That's not a obvious fit for me.

And WoL with characters? Sure, if it remained Futuristic.

Ok but it still doesn't fit or belong in FW I just think Disney should think about theme always and it may fit a seas pavillion in DAK but not in FW.
