Tower of Terror could absolutely continue to exist without TZ. It would certainly be sad, but it wouldn't take much to adapt it out.

I'd argue it's the beating heart of the attraction. Sure, you can change it and keep the "ride" the same, but the feel and experience would be anything but.

My theory now that planet watch is to close.. it will be all closed down and left to rot like River Country... and they will move Indiana Jones land in there only if the new movie takes off.

The facility is still a veterinary facility. And an insider has said the pavilion will be used for special events. So, the more apt comparison would be Wonders of Life pavilion.

No daily Train. Part of the appeal of the closure was saving money from Train Operations and the long journey it creates for guests not spending any money.

I think I would liken it to them removing the testing from Test Track. Sure the ride is the same, but the experience is nothing alike, and really not worth the time anymore.

Again, there was no real loss in popularity. More like a loss in terms of guest satisfaction.

I dont remember many long lines towards the last few years. I did hear a lot of people skip it because "it hadn't changed much..."

Nah if anything the new TZ will be the final nail in the coffin for old ToT. It'll just become IP-less or take up a new IP. Money's on Strange.

Yeah, but a Strange overlay would be hardly touching anything. Outside, the only thing they should do is have the "O" in the sign flicker with Strange's Sanctorum icon. Inside, Strange is the narrator instead of Sterling. The ghosts become guests trapped in the astral plane. Change a few props... done. Might even get WDW to finally fix and randomize all the drop 'profiles.'

If it's no longer an abandoned hotel, I'm not sure how you consider that "hardly touching anything". And that concept would make zero sense in 1940s Hollywood.

Gotcha. But to me it just wouldn't be ToT without the classic preshow and TZ music. I'd be happy if they just upgraded the effects or, you know, properly maintained the attraction.

I shall never forget! No amount of screens can dim my love for live action movie scenes, aliens dropping down from the ceiling, and being transported into Munchkinland on the yellow brick road. Call me an old soul, but Disney just doesn’t do it like they used too.

I don't think they do. If so, Disney couldn't do this.
