Is Epcot pursing new sponsors?

Actually, AT&T had much more to do with pulling the plug than Disney. And, Disney is always "sponsor crazy". It's extra cash in their pockets for the cost of some signage and maybe some voice over spots. They will almost always take a contract if they can.

As for DuPont, I would love to see it. They have been looking for additional PR as of recent times, and they tend to like the avant garde. Therefore, they are perfect for Epcot. Now, whether WOL stays as a medicine pavilion or switches to molecular biology/chemistry/etc. is up to them (I would LOVE to see an updated version of Adventure thru Inner Space with some new ride system). Here's to hoping this will be a nice b-day present for the park. :D
oh, AT&T left the plug. and disney found another plug

I don't think I understand your point. Sponsorship is a very good thing for Disney operations. The sponsor puts in a significant amount of money annually to operate an attraction, and Disney has a fairly minimal output to offset that income. Therefore, from a money perspective, Disney loves sponsorships. Therefore, the money part suggests Disney will always look for outside help (as they have since day 1).

With Epcot's 25th coming up, is Disney trying to court a new group of sponsors into the park? With Spaceship Earth getting a new sponsors, it leaves only the Universe of Energy and Wonders of Life sponsorless. I mean it would be great if all the rides in Future World would have sponsors again and I know that in this day in age, sponsorship can really help boost a company's tarnished image. Anybody hear any rumblings in regards to this?

The Seas still doesn't have a sponsor. Go figure? :veryconfu

O.K.
my guess is
Disney does not like the new AT&T so they switched to siemens ( which really what the heck do they do?) and also Disney isin't that "sponser crazy" anymore. that's my guess

Quite a lot, actually. Here's a link on their Global Website so you can check out all their products and services: http://www.siemens.com/index.jsp?sd...1&sdc_bcpath=1327885.s_0,&sdc_sid=33894484078

The short version though is that they are a huge international telecommunications company. Just what Spaceship Earth should be sponsored by.

Oh man, would that be cool. That ride is one of my fondest memories of DL from the 60s. If I was "hooked" by Disney then, it was partially because of that attraction.

I agree. I never got to see it, but the premise is cool. I think having it upgraded to a more thrill-oriented ride or as the trackless system, it could be a top notch attraction that would fill several voids at WDW.

I think there are some great things that could happen at Epcot to bring the themes together and save/change things. Push Cranium Command into a new version at Imagination (a pavilion celebrating the power of the human mind - double pyramids - one creative; one analytical, etc.). Have DuPont rebrand WoL into the chemical pavilion. Just do something with these things. The park is on the brink of having a newer, updated version of itself (sans the characters in WS, but another topic for another thread  ). I would love to see FWE truly go into engineering-based development; FWW celebrating more the natural. Then the center celebrating communication and technology. It could make for a more cohesive Epcot that keeps what worked in the original and adds an overlay of thrill, fun, and current-ness so that constant outdating doesn't occur (so fast). It could be a Worlds Fair, truly (Future Worlds Fair? :drevil: ).

OK. I'm done armchair imagineering. People are waking up, so it's Christmas time. Have a Merry Christmas everyon! :xmas:

The problem with apple is that Disney would have to switch over to using their computers and that would be a major change, Disney is very comfortable with the PC system they have now and unless apple is going to give them the machines, ( which I don't think will happen )
And it would look too obvious... :lookaroun

apples can run windows now... i see no issue.

just install xp or windows 2000 onto a few macs....

run imagination on 2 mini macs ;)

then apple can sponsor the CGI pavilion ;)

I'd love to see an "Adventure Thru Inner Space"-type attraction which examined such new and controversial topics as string theory... "The Elegant Universe" or "Fabric of the Cosmos"-type stuff. Really interesting, and all about the fundamental scientific nature and origin of the entire universe.

This past trip I noticed a lot more Apple computers around for show use. They were using a set of nice new iMac machines for the new musical at Animal Kingdom. We stopped after the show to talk to the tech guys. Since I'm a Mac fan, and a Disney fan, I was very happy to see them in use. The tech guys let me know that it never gives them issues.

I've always wondered why they bother to rely on Windows in those parks. I was walking through Mission Space, and they were rebooting from a Windows crash. All I heard everywhere was that awful Win2000 startup sound. I asked a CM, and he told me that they use a Windows 2000 server to host the boot images, and it died. Wonderful!

I've heard from many people that they wish Apple had a presence at the Innoventions. However, the coolest gadgets Apple makes are very mainstream now, and people just don't care to play around on a computer when at a theme park. They can do that at home. Apple has amazing stores, and most of the time they have wonderful simple presentations that can help people become comfortable with the OS and the apps. I would love to see Apple sponsor something on property though.

Now, it could be a conflict of interest, because we all know Steve Jobs is now involved directly with Disney. I wouldn't doubt some form of partnership though, I mean look at Disney and iTunes. That's already an amazing partnership. Now if only we could see more of that transported to a partnership for the parks.

I can dream right.........

It's certainly not a conflict of interest issue. I bet that something is happening behind the scenes as we speak. If Microsoft doesn't have a brand presence, then I am sure Apple will eventually jump in somewhere.

Lets also not forget Steve Jobs being in a position of power within Disney now - he is the president of Apple. I don't think the switch to Mac's is all that unlikely, personally.

Microsoft.... serves them right (I`m recovering from another XP refusing-to-boot as I type)

They should have stuck with the in-house systems at EPCOT. They were by Sperry circa 1982, but they worked.

Bring Lego into the mix for a LARGE scale area or pavillon?! More than what's downtown, bring a version of Legoland, Calif., to Disney:wave:
