Rumor Is Dreamfinder, the roving M&G, coming back to Epcot soon?

Blink, blink. Breathe, breathe. Day in, day out.
Now that I think about it, Dreamfinder and Figment might be one of the last remaining Disney characters that were allowed as late as 1994/1995. Speaking of Figment, does anyone know any info behind this video? I wonder if @marni1971 might know more about this. Since it featured the Figment puppet actually talking by an unseen person. The video is titled "4 Figment's Screen Test".

Probably related to when they were shooting video elements for ImageWorks and whatnot.

Now let's not get ahead of ourselves here, most generic guests don't exactly know who Dreamfinder is, unless they visited the park before. If this were to happen, however, it could be a test to see how popular the two together are. It could mean Disney is considering bringing back Dreamfinder as a replacement with the only delema being if it would be worth the trouble. Guests may like Inside Out more, who knows. This could be the reason why any Imagination replacement isn't planned until 5 to 6 years from now.

I'm excited to see what happens!

A meet and greet really isn't the best way to reintroduce a character. They usually lack any story and context, which makes it far less enjoyable if you don't know said character. On the other hand, theme park attractions can tell a story, just like a movie, TV show, video game, comic book, etc. can. So that's a better place to start.

I'd love to meet Dreamfinder, but I think this is asking for failure. And'll hurt his chances of a return in the long run.

True. If they set Dreamfinder up in a dedicated meet & greet photo op location, I fear he’ll go the way of Duffy. However, if he becomes an Atmo character, walking around and playing with guests, that could be really great. He has the potential for that as he is a face character.

Dreamfinder today? Hate to say it, but not many young ones know about the character for it to be relevant. They may bring him back for the 35th anniversary of the original attraction but most likely will be temporary. Overall, skeptical, but intrigued.

A character doesn't really need an introduction to make an experience enjoyable. Take an Oswald M&G for example, most generic people see him as an older Mickey Mouse. I think Dreamfinder would already be known by a small margin of people thanks to the comic. I really think that a Dreamfinder M&G would be a way to test his popularity though.

Ron Schneider is still around to voice the Dreamfinder again... right? Then again, after his involvement with the Indy film "The Further Adventure's of Walt's Frozen Head", I'm guessing he may be on Disney's "naughty" list...

Is he able to? Yes. Would he be asked to? I would doubt it. I'm sure he'd love to, but I wouldn't expect Disney to ask him back. He did throw quite a bit of shade at the current management and Imagination V2 and V3. He was recently on (2 months ago) the Defunctland podcast. When asked why they got rid of then brought Figment, he claimed to have heard Eisner state "I hate that *bad word here* dragon". Then the fans brought Figment back, right? No. The park felt a sizeable decline in profits and panicked.

I have no idea if what he said is true or not, but anyone that's worked with the company for so long then throws info like that out would most likely not be brought back. (Didn't Tony get yelled at for his little "And when are we bringing Dreamfinder back?" at D23 2013, after getting his award?) But then again, how many people heard the podcast? Probably not a lot (11k). It's still a nice listen to get his view of the parks.

He still has the voice, just a bit raspier sounding. See Martins video at 45:25

Figment and to a lesser extent Dreamfinder are merchandise cash cows. Still vetting if being considered, but I would not doubt it, but as for the ride...

Nope.
Why is TWDC unable to connect the dots here? If they take the merchandise cash cow and give it a state of the art attraction, that fan base will grow even bigger and give them even more money. It's like they don't care about Figment and Dreamfinder specifically because they are original characters that were created for Epcot. There's absolutely no way you can tell me Inside Out sells more merchandise, so I see zero justification for using that IP over Figment.

What is the qualm with making the ride feature the duo again? If they are extremely popular, and could only continue to be more so with an attraction, why isn't there even an option on the table?

Why spend money when they have a sure fire source of income without spending any as it is? But it has been mentioned in other Epcot threads that a V4 (existing since 2007 I believe) would bring the duo back. There is also at least one option that would ditch the dragon entirely though (and I'd hope it would backfire again). You can read some of the info in the Rumor and Timeline tracker thread at the top of this section.
