Is Disney Losing DVC Members/Contracts due to Covid??

DVC actually does. They have a FROR to keep the values up, it is in their interest to buy it back -even if it is for a lower amount than you want. A traditional timeshare doesn't have the same set up because there are hotel rooms around the world, RCI stuff, etc. Try buying/selling points for under market and see what happens...

That is during this economy (for now). ROFR is a right that can be exercised by DVC, not a guarantee. Yes, it is designed so DVC can control the market and keep resale prices high, so that it can control inventory and maintain direct sale pricing. It is one of the main reasons that I went with DVC as opposed to an other timeshare.

However, none of that is guaranteed. If in the future the market were to stagnate and DVC cannot offload the contracts it has, then it is not going to buy more just to keep the market up. Eventually, when you try to artificially influence a market you run our of ammunition. This is what we have seen in Europe, with some government bonds (The German Bund is an excellent example) paying negative interest. Yes, negative, you buy a bond for $100, hold onto it for a while, and then the government pays you back $99. The US is also teetering extremely close to this situation. The Fed has been lowering interest rates to drive the economy. With the Fed rate at 0.25% right now, there is not much left in the tank to prop up an unstable balloon economy. It's been like that for a while, and COVID may be the pin that pops it.

Anyway, economic rant aside, when DVC buys back a contract they are now on the hook for the dues - they do not get to keep it on the books for free. If nobody is buying contracts from DVC, then DVC will not be exercising ROFR. You can only prop up a market where nobody else is buying for so long, then it turns into a charity event, and DVC is not in the business of charity.

At Animal Kingdom Villas, yes.

The lowest on-property that I saw when I skimmed was $81.25 per point at SSR.

ETA: For clarity, that thread does not include closing costs in the per point cost, but does list the per point cost, number of points, and the total cost including closing costs.
I would like to know where anyone is seeing these kind of prices. From the reputable DVC Resale vendors:
DVCResaleMarket - lowest AKL is $108
DVCStore - lowest AKL is $100
DVCSales - lowest AKL is $104
ResalesDVC - lowest AKL is $104
DVCShop - lowest AKL is $104 - they do have a few at $99, but all are already pending
DVCResale - lowest AKL is $105

What you've posted are listings. What I've heard from others is that buyers are making offers below listed prices that are being accepted, which I don't believe is all that odd. Like I said, there is a recurring ROFR thread on another board, one that I believe you don't wish to go to, where members of the board announce their personal sales and purchases. Could all those people be lying, sure. It's easily google-able. ROFR Disney June will get you there.

I don't think these people are paying asking.

I made a mistake in guessing the prices would drop quickly...but my novice mind didn’t account for them rigging the stock market and luring spenders into bigger purchases with 0% rates.

Rookie error on my part. Except the prices still will drop precipitously...but more likely next year when the re-depression is in full swing.

The powers that be have guaranteed it with a textbook awful corona response. Almost intentional...worse than just being stupid.

So those asking prices will fall...they just got an unexpected bounce in the medium term.

I guess it depends on how motivated the seller is.
