Is Disney dollars scheme ending?!

Reading on a uk based Facebook group that reportedly someone was discussing with Disney cast members on the DCL that the scheme is imminently coming to an end.

I'm not certain on the source if this or if it's even valid as it certainly sounds questionable, but knew if anyone was likely to have an indication they would know about it here!!

I'm going to go waaaaaay out on a limb (read: not really) and guess there is/was some convoluted arbitrage scheme to save a few hundred basis points on your Disney spend by purchasing Disney Dollars.

There are probably several dozen threads on DisBoards devoted to it.

I was using "scheme" in the most common definition: a plan.

Now, the steps of said plans are usually things I'm not interested in doing, so saving the couple percent isn't worth it to me.

I buy gift cards for my Disney trips at BJs and save about 4%. Is it basically that, only through Disney?

That's true, I used the term scheme to refer to the general Disney dollar system rather than plans to improve value for money for guests.

So really my question was in terms of are disney dollars being discontinued across Disney parks etc. ?

Probably. But my post was intended to be a sarcastic dig at the "extreme couponing" sub-culture that pervades the bowels of Disney fan-dom.

I think the end date I heard is tomorrow (March 16), for when they won't be sold any longer, so it sounds like a hard stop. I'm not sure if certain locations will carry remaining inventory but you'll still be able to redeem them.

We do the same thing, but through Sam's Club. Buy them at a discounted rate at Sam's, and put them on the Disney Visa to get another 1% back or whatever, so it saves a little bit of money per trip (not a whole lot, but probably enough to cover a meal or something).

That ties in exactly with what the rumour was, a hard stop sell on them as of tommorow.
Guess will wait and see if there is official confirmation from Disney on it...

I hope not. I have about $400 worth stashed away as I collect them and planned to get more in June.
