Is attendance really down at WDW this or…

Been 15 - 20 years in the making. I hope they can turn away from disaster
I don’t think there’s much danger of disaster for the parks, if - and this is maybe a big if - Disney is willing to see what’s right in front of its nose. They dropped perks, raised prices, added upcharges everywhere, and attendance dropped. I think the problem and the solution to the problem is pretty straightforward. There may be a few variables in there that are a little more debatable (are some right wing types boycotting the parks, are the lack of successful recent movies impacting attendance a bit,) but for the most part I feel like it’s pretty obvious what Disney parks need to do to win back guests. The question is, will they do it, when it will cost them money in the short term?

Streaming, on the other hand, is a whole different ballgame. I almost wish they would just rip the bandaid off and go to the Amazon Prime model with rentals and per-show purchases. I know that will be on unpopular opinion but I’m more of a parks person than a tv person (I just don’t have the time to binge watch or really even watch a full movie straight through) and I’m tired of the parks being bled out to support a streaming service with no plans for profitability in sight. If I had to choose to save the parks or D+, I’d choose the parks in a heartbeat.

Veliciocoaster is at 55 min now, kong at 70, mummy at 75.
Interesting. When I checked nothing other than the main two coasters in IoA had anything above 60 minutes. Kong does load/unload very slowly so that explains that wait time.

I saw that AK wait times went up a little too but MK is around the same.

Back on topic, so I'm watching a few youtube videos. One of my favorite is 4KWDW and it was shot yesterday. unexpectantly low crowds in Epcot. 20 minute soarin standby wait times at 3 pm? wow. open virtual cue availability on GOTG . I heard its unusally hot (lol isn't it always hot in July in Florida) so I wonder if that is keeping people at home.

Anyhoo, I maybe the odd duck here because I want lower crowds. got a trip in 60 days !!

This time period feels so ominous for TWDC. Everything is seemingly failing all at once. Leadership can’t do anything because the structure is rotten to the core. Everyone knows the impending disaster is going to happen but are just mulling around as normal waiting for it.
They’ll do their best to lie without outright lying…

…and the last couple dozen Sycs will try to spin it as great on the threads…

…lather, rinse…

Watching this now and it makes me want to book a trip, further evidence of how the parks attendance moderates itself, too busy and people don’t want to go, light like this video and it looks amazing.

Unfortunately, for myself and Disney, every time I watch a video like this and get excited about a trip I look at packages and the prices bring me back to reality.

The prices limit us to a WDW trip every year or two, which is probably what Disney wants.

@Vegas, if Lady Luck is on your side, enjoy the winnings with a trip to WDW!

Amazon prime has their own collection of original shows and movies. It's not just rentals and purchases.

Don’t feel bad…nobody else paid to go today either😎
…it’s not just you and me

Was at a party last night and my sister who's going at Christmas (season, not week of) in 2024 almost had wine-filled me convinced to book a trip with her. If it stays like this and there are good hotel discounts...maybe we will make our first ever holiday trip. We always wanted to go once. We will see. Too expensive right now.

It’s lunchtime on July 4th. The park is at “capacity” and BTMRR has a 35 minute wait.

Let that sink in.
Back to yesterdays thought - Was "Sold Out" really "Sold Out"?

What would the analysts think if WDW was not Sold Out on July 4 under the reservation regime?

Years past had 4 levels of phased closings. This year, "sold out" happens 24 hours before (but you can get in after 2:00 if you park hop)
