I just checked and according to google the average annual household income is 71k.

That not enough to survive on let alone go to Disney.

According to google I’m in the top 1%, that really surprised me since I don’t make that much, and I scoff at these prices.

So who the heck is taking these trips ?

Wait…
I just googled, and you’d have to be making just over 400K/year (as an individual - household income 570K) to be in the top 1%.
If you’re making that much plus, how does that even qualify as “...that really surprised me since I don’t make that much…”…?!?!?! :cyclops:
“So who the heck is taking these trips?” Disney fans making 400k plus a year are, for certain…!!!!! :hilarious:
I wouldn’t even know what to do with that kinda’ yearly income…then again…
Goin’ on trips, cruises (not just Disney) at least every other month, remodeling our home, replacing my 20-year-old car, etc….!!!!! :hilarious:

Some who take these vacations are the slaves to debt mindset group.

Poster maybe not earning $400K a year but their net worth/stocks , real estate could be worth quite a bit ( ie The Millionaire Next Door ( good reading )) .

Yep, I’m 60 and know all about the millionaire next door aspect, as we’ve had neighbors like that more than once.
The underlined in their post indicated to me they were referring to their annual income.

you know there's a problem when they don't sell annual passes since covid.. and then all of a sudden recently they do, AND now are up'ing the discounts for the summer.

after covid - psft we don't need AP holders
now - omg please come back, we love you and need you! please help us - here's a magnet, no hard feelings right?

For DCL they actually got it right….they charge premium market rates but EVERY person I’ve met or friend I’ve had who’s done DC said it’s head and shoulders above the competition and their favorite CL….if only Disney would do this with the parks. If you’re gonna charge a higher rate, make the experience match.

We’ve been on 3 Carnival cruises, and one DCL cruise, and have loved them all.
Our daughter and SonIL went on a DCL cruise (along with a WDW trip afterwards) for their honeymoon in 2014, and loved it.
When we started to plan our first family cruise for December of ‘17, we first looked at DCL, of course.
It was overboard price-wise…!!!!! :greedy: :greedy::greedy:
We went with Carnival and 2 aft veranda staterooms, and it was awesome…!!! :)
We took 2 more Carnival cruises (the last one with our then 1-year-old granddaughter) after that, and then the DCL cruise (on the Magic, out of the Port of Galveston) this past December with our now 2 granddaughters…!!! :)
The only reason we took the DCL cruise was because our oldest DD (granddaughters mother) found some crazy discount online, otherwise it would have been out of our price range for the 8 of us.
Our kids even surprised us with a Palo brunch for our 34th wedding anniversary, and our oldest granddaughter still asks when she can go back on the “Mickey boat”…!!!!! :hilarious:
Anyhoo…
All this to agree with you…why doesn’t (not can’t, because we all know they can) Disney do this with their domestic parks…?!
Just my opinion, but, the parks don’t even come close to the wonderful Carnival cruise line experiences we’ve had…!!!!! :hilarious:

I don't think anyone would disagree that WDW is waaaaaay too expensive for what you get.
I would. As I’ve said before, I consider the park tickets an excellent value.

I’ll agree as far as the hotels are concerned, however. They charge much more than what I’m prepared to pay.

Aren't hotel rates similar to airline rates ? Peak season high prices, off season lower prices , 12/25-31 insane pricing and many will pay .

I’m not judging those who decide to spend the extra that Disney charges for its own hotels. It’s just that I myself don’t find enough value in the product to pay for it. I’m in the parks all day with no midday hotel break, so all I need is a clean bed for the night.

A few minutes from DAK is 192 and cheaper hotels, motels that attract all walks of life. If you check out The Florida Project filmed on location starring Willem Defoe nominated for an Oscar for the movie , it shows the darker side of Kissimmee just a few minutes away from WDW.

Let’s see if they remember lessons from 2001, when they cut back and took too many perks then attendance cratered further. It’s a delicate balance, where failing causes huge issues. Unfortunately, they need to hit rock bottom before management changes tune.
All that management is long gone.....

You make it sound like there is gang warfare happening as soon as you leave the bubble of WDW. Didn't you say the same for the are outside Universal? I've stayed on 192 and on International Drive and I never seen any gang warfare happen.

Watch the movie and you will see a new perspective on life right by WDW and Celebration . In another case, you obviously haven't been to Pine ( Crime ) Hills and Raleigh area by UO.
