Is attendance really down at WDW this or…

They should have a CM dressed in Redcoat gear come in right before the fireworks, carrying a British vintage 1775 musket, from the Liberty Square area, shouting at guests to "Disperse! Damn you, disperse!" I'm still not sure that would cause some guests to get off the walkways.

ETA: I'd love to read guest surveys after such an interaction.

That's exactly what I observed twice a couple of weeks ago. About 30 minutes prior on the first night we picked a spot standing on the curb at the end of Main Street right outside the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor, outside of the rope they had strung to keep traffic moving on the sidewalk.

Five minutes before the show as CM's were telling people to clear the sidewalks and keep moving, people simply dove under the rope and stood next to us. They continued to pack themselves in this way.

One family refused to move off the sidewalk (right at the corner outside Plaza Ice Cream). A CM told them multiple times that they had to move. They refused. Every time the CM told them they had to move, they said no. Eventually security came over, looked around, and moved on. Several more families joined that family on the corner.

When the show started, two families in front of us who had packed themselves in under the rope put their kids on their shoulders. We now had an almost 8 foot high wall of bodies in front of us and couldn't see a thing.

The second night they announced over the PA system that "Main Street has reached capacity for tonights show, please continue on to other areas of the park". Of course, nobody did. And that night was simply a repeat of the first night.

Evening fireworks at Epcot? A much better experience in my opinion.

yeah, we have had similar - and at times literally other guests physically pushing up/not caring if they make contact with us, my kids are crying, it's a disaster - we just refuse to bein the hub any more and just keep moving further and further down Main St. Not that it is empty but doesn't feel as smushed at least

I'd even be willing to do the dessert package if it wasn't just so expensive now - we did it when it was like $29/person or maybe even $50 or so, but just can't do like $110

I wish I could have seen that. The one time I went there, it was the hottest day in something like 5 years in southern Virginia. I'm not sure there were any costumed performers that day. We gave up and went over to Yorktown, which was more like 98 degrees, instead of low 100's.

We know which picnic loving free loading pass holders love to pack the parks for the fireworks.

"Free loading". That's a strange word to describe someone who pays for admission.

Show me on the doll where the passholders hurt you:

As long my as they are staying there I don't see an issue - if that is what you want to choose to use your time for you should be able to

What I would like to see stopped is people then pushing (often literally) their way in 10 mins before the show starts and just standing in front of people who had gotten their earlier, people putting kids on shoulder, people holding up iPads, etc

That’s never going to happen…

It’s not a ride with a queue…where people have a choice to enter or not
It’s in the pathways - which are designed to distribute crowds…not stand and look.

The way to solve it is to properly invest in your parks…I assure you

It’s not to have 19 year olds from Oklahoma state battle people with light sabers

Well the options for not getting stuck in the giant mosh pit are desert parties, Handicap zones, or from Fantasyland behind the castle. The mosh pit is just a sea of people holding up iPads, phones, and children on their parents' shoulders, so you don't see much of the projection work except on the tops of the structures so the expansion of the hub increased its capacity for bodies, it didn't increase the number of people who actually could see the projections.
