There’s room for everyone here on the island of misfit toys…

For those that never go and hate the idea of the place….for those that adamant defend and haven’t gone enough to know what it is they’re defending…

And the rest of us stick in the middle with you
I'm perturbed that the park hours NYE get shorter in shorter. Back in the day we could drink and dance at DHS until 3am not anymore. Epcot closes at 12am last I checked. I remember after the fireworks thousands including me continue to celebrate at World Showcase but the exit onto the roadways back to the hotels in nightmarish.

Just an FYI, Disney has since updated the hours to have Magic Kingdom and Epcot closing at 1 AM on New Year’s Eve.

I believe it’s 1 now…but point taken

I was right!!!

But the point still holds…they lock the countries down and have a couple of popcorn carts and spinny thing sellers

It feels like a “walk of Shame”

Terrible guest service

What I would like to see stopped is people then pushing (often literally) their way in 10 mins before the show starts and just standing in front of people who had gotten their earlier, people putting kids on shoulder, people holding up iPads, etc

That's exactly what I observed twice a couple of weeks ago. About 30 minutes prior on the first night we picked a spot standing on the curb at the end of Main Street right outside the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor, outside of the rope they had strung to keep traffic moving on the sidewalk.

Five minutes before the show as CM's were telling people to clear the sidewalks and keep moving, people simply dove under the rope and stood next to us. They continued to pack themselves in this way.

One family refused to move off the sidewalk (right at the corner outside Plaza Ice Cream). A CM told them multiple times that they had to move. They refused. Every time the CM told them they had to move, they said no. Eventually security came over, looked around, and moved on. Several more families joined that family on the corner.

When the show started, two families in front of us who had packed themselves in under the rope put their kids on their shoulders. We now had an almost 8 foot high wall of bodies in front of us and couldn't see a thing.

The second night they announced over the PA system that "Main Street has reached capacity for tonights show, please continue on to other areas of the park". Of course, nobody did. And that night was simply a repeat of the first night.

Evening fireworks at Epcot? A much better experience in my opinion.

It's weird how WDW actively encourages guests to cram in to that relatively small area (for fireworks watching, that's a tiny area), which means that people are going to stake out spots long in advance and also take spots in front of others who waited longer, but they have individual CM's trying to get people to spread out. I can understand the CM's trying to get people to disperse away from walkways, etc. because that's a safety issue. I just wish WDW had a more consistent approach with that instead of seemingly contradicting that.
