Is attendance really down at WDW this or…

On the flip side, my former peers and their extended family took a trip across the pond and enjoyed it. The vacation for a week in the UK was cheaper than a week at WDW.

I think most places are cheaper than Disney. My sister and family just come back from a real safari in Africa for less than a WDW trip

Food is better? Better than what? Food used to be an attraction all in itself. Now, every restaurant has essentially the same meals, with just different names.

Totally disagree - way more variety now and most is pretty good

I mean, just look a new options at Animal Kingdom out this month. Chicken or shrimp bowls with jollof rice with kachumbari tomato salad and tzatziki sauce .... Beef and Lamb Kofta Pita .... Harissa Chicken Wrap

Every place has those? And this is just one update with a few examples

All sound delish and I've tried similar items at non Disney ethnic locations but trying to sell this to kids would be challenging.

Maybe they’re talking about MK, where the food offerings tend to be geared more toward what most people consider child friendly

CS offerings at WDW prior to COVID were very good with a lot of choices. They have become more limited since then but the only time I had to settle for something that wasn’t good was when everyone wanted to go to Pecos Bills.

CS specifically at MK is definitely lacking compared to other parks or resorts

I will say we had a pretty solid meal our last trip at Tortuga Tavern - tasty food, slight twist to standard options, and big portions

See…while not “bad looking”…they have alot of bbq pork on property and the rest are mostly variations on a hot dog.

I actually think the quick serve has been a little bit better for awhile…I think that was part of the dining plan push…

But when most on forums talk about decline: it’s the sit downs.
The sitdowns are what made wdw unique and what drove A lot of the loyalty towards the parks

The biggest problem I have with the food pricing is comparing it to my weekly grocery shopping which I know I shouldn’t do.
For me, it's not so much the price, but the quality. I came to terms with, eating at Disney isn't going to be cheap, a long time ago. But food quality has taken an extreme slide south at Disney. So it's hard for me to justify double or more the cost over what I would pay at a chillies or olive garden. Especially when it doesn't even meet those quality standards. And we're not talking about some crazy high bar to clear.

What restaurants are you talking about specifically? There are so many places to eat at Disney.

I am a massive breakfast person. It’s my favourite meal of the day but I flat out refuse to pay the prices Disney want for breakfast.

The Boma breakfast buffet is worth it -- try to go there once a trip. I agree that other breakfasts generally aren't worth the price, though... I think the only breakfast we've eaten other than Boma that was actually okay for the price was at the Rainforest Cafe in Animal Kingdom. We weren't planning to eat there, but we were hungry when we got to the park, saw it served breakfast, and went in to eat.

Food certainly wasn't amazing, but it was a lot better than what they serve at places like Be Our Guest.

I think there's a huge difference between QS and TS in this discussion. QS is probably the best it's ever been at Disney -- table service, on the other hand, is not very good for the most part and has both fewer options and lower overall quality than the past. There are a few exceptions, of course.

Flying Fish is the only Disney TS meal I've had recently that actually felt like it was worth the price -- California Grill was okay, but not good enough to make me want to return (and certainly wouldn't return now that it's prix fixe).

We tend to eat most of our meals at Disney Springs because the food quality is generally higher there.

Definitely not worth it for the food but for folks who really want to do character meals the ones with breakfast let you do that for a bit less money that other meals.

When kids were young we liked to do breakfast at Akershus - solid food (cheesy potatoes were excellent) and got to see 5 princesses (and if got a pre park opening ADR could get font of the like for Frozen Ever After )

I agree with Boma breakfast being good..Kona Cafe has some good options too (macadamia nut pancakes and a French press coffee pot is a good way to start the day)

Yeah, I can see that - we didn't do very many TS meals our last trip.

I think some good options but some of them have gotten pricey and hate the shift to more prefixe menus (especially now that several of my kids are "Disney Adults")

We did Akershus a year ago with all 3 kids under 10. We got a good meal with the family style servings and we got to see 5 princesses. Lots of money but I thought it was worth it since we got really good interaction with the characters.

Probably won't go back though heh.

I’ll give you Boma breakfast. That is head and shoulders the best sit down breakfast.

Dinner wise I love Steakhouse 71. The burger is amazing and great value compared to what they charge elsewhere on property like Sci-Fi where the burger was disgusting.

The Potter quick service is great, with decent pricing as well for the quality/atmosphere. But they struggle outside of the Wizarding World. Their pizza is decent, but the value at WDW's is much better as you get a side salad as well for a lower price. Thunder Falls and Cafe La Bamba are pretty decent options, but their service can be spotty.

One dining advantage for Universal is City Walk. There are tons of good restaurants at varying price points just a few steps outside both their parks.

We tried the Minions Cafe this trip and really enjoyed it. Liked the food and loved the theming!
