No, i like earthquake I know that loads of you think its rubbish, but i think they should get rid of twister. I thought it was the worst attraction there.

Hate to disagree with you, but I think Twister is far and away better than Earthquake, Kongfrontation, or Jaws. I was thrilled when plans were announced for a Kongfrontation replacement and I PERSONALLY hope that Earthquake is next. But Earthquake does have it's fans, don't get me wrong. I'm just not one of them.

I might get killed with these but I always thought
Replace BTTF with a newer movie and update the area
Update Earthquake with a new special effects attraction
Replace Twister with a new ride, doesn't matter just something new

I am not sure if it has been mentioned yet, but I just got a mailing from Universal stating they will have firework shows this summer.

I know that there has been some talking back and forth about this, can't remember if some one cofirmed it yet though.

BTTF is due a re-hab apparently, I heard some new smoke and lighting effects maybe a screen clean-up. I don't think a new movie is likely anytime soon, second by second that is the most expensive movie ever made! Althought there is an alternate film (or clips of one I believe with the rest filled in with scenes where the effects haven't been completed) that includes a part where the train for part III is in it! Which sounds cool to me... I dunno about anyone else but as much as I love BTTF I never really cared for the Dinosaur part, the future part is uber-cool though.

I used to love earthquake but now it's just funny and sad to see how poor it actually is! It must cost an absolute fortune to run too.. It recently got a semi rehab.. well the Pre-shows did adding models from ET and U571 (which when the host askes if anyone knows which film it's from hardly anyone knows which always makes me chuckle).

Twister is bearable but I haven't had to line up for it in years, the pre-show is probably more exciting than the actual show... I can't see them wanting to get rid of it anytime soon but it's a bit boring and lasts too long... usually I just get bored and wonder how long before it's over because a smoke effect doesn't really impress time and time again especially when it lasts like 5 minutes!! The best thing about it (for me) is the noise levels/sound effects and when the shelter drops down an inch or two... an effect T2 does much better!

I personally think earthquake and Beetle juice have to go they're awful!! But surely they have to do something with the old Xena building??? It's been empty for years!! They've pumped a load of money into USF recenly let's hope it doesn't end.. but IOA needs an A class ride SOON it's a shame of all the drama that was spilled over Van Helsing

Thats right, the rumor was about IOA have a firework show.

On the picture they show the fireworks in the water by Citywalk. Is that where the nightly fireworks are, or are they in USF?

USF, except for holidays, they do a mirror show from both parks

Removing Earthquake would work.. but they then would remove the building as it is a strange shape and cannot hold anything else....or it would be a strange ride...

Well they could always tear down the large queue area and the parking lot between BJGR and Earthquake maintenence and build quite a large building back there... they use it a lot for Halloween Horror Nights... can usually hold atleast two houses...

Rewrite BJGR, get rid of Earthquake... You need to keep Beetle Juice in the park because he's such a great character... and now that the Ghostbuster's show is gone, you can't lose him too!! In Herc & Xena they had a Halloween Horror Night house last year and it's currently being used for storage... Part of it is used for the new Shrek & Donkey meet and greet area with the new Donkey puppet... and yes, IOA needs a new attraction now that USF is set for awhile...

The only time the parks run the same fireworks show is on New Years and 4th of July. Other than that, they both have seperate and very different shows. The one at USF is based on movie soundtracks (Jaws, Terminator, Jurassic Park, ET, BTTF and more) and the one at IOA is based on Merlin the Magician and all and is more 'magical'...

Those would be the holidays that parks set-off extra fireworks for.....

It is neat to see (if I am home) from my balcony, as between USF/IOA/SW/MK, the whole sky is lit up....

Have you seen this show? If so, how does it compare to IOA's show (Which I thought was merely OK) or any of the Disney shows? I never knew that USF's show featured music from the attractions featured in the park. If you think the show is worthwhile, I might try and check it out on July 6th, when I spend my day at UO. That is if they have the show in July.

I know, but I was trying to add a little more detail to your post for the other people out there that aren't like you and I and can watch these shows nightly if we see fit... my favorite thing to do on 4th of July is go to Epcot or MGM and watch their 9pm fireworks, then drive to Universal and watch their 10pm from the top of the parking garage and if you turn around you can see Sea World's and Downtown Orlando's as well... pretty fun...

Disney does firework shows every night at their parks (minus AK)... Disney does parades at the parks every day... Universal does not... Universal does these only on special occassion therefore the shows are no where near the quality of Disney's shows... if you want a rollercoaster trill ride, you go to IOA or Busch Gardens... if you want magic and parades and fireworks, you go to Disney... The shows aren't bad... worth sticking around for... only about 10min at both parks... Universal's has a dull moment in Terminator and ET soundtracks... but it's pretty good... I haven't seen fireworks at Universal since New Years and before that it was a few nights in December and then back during last year so maybe they've changed it... but I doubt it...

Well I think most of us know this

I just thought that maybe USF was debuting a new show and therefore might be showing it during the whole summer. I'm pretty sure that's what they did with IOA's fireworks show when it was created because I have never been on a special occasion day and I have seen that show. I just misunderstood. I follow you now.

Thanks for the reply

You know those parking lots are used and usually full by staff of Universal Studios and Islands of adventure and the Production staff and stars and guests for production...

Taking some away might cause a problem.. heck I wondered behind the aprks and saw an olde parking lot tram back there for their parking lot.. and ther were cars all over...

Was it the old parking lot tram, or the old Studio tram ride?

It think they should build a parking garage for employees at the far northwestern part of the property and using the extra space it would create. Of course this would require a lot of money not just to build the parking garage, but to relocate the back stage building back further. But if Universal needs the land to expand, you can squeeze some out of the backstage area.

As awesome as that would be, moving the wardrobe building back a hundred or two hundred yards (which is really all the space you would get), just would not be worth it. Combine all the offices that adjacent to the park that would need to be rellocated, it would just be a logistics nightmare.

Universal has the space, it is just in strange spots. But they know where the are.

in empty theater space... (hitchcock became shreak.. whats left became theater 2... so no empty space there..)

wasn't there an old empty area that had a HHN maze in it in New York...

I know there is space between MIB and BTTF/Pets theater.... which was where the mummy track was stored before instalation.... they wouldn't touch a soundstage as thats the other company's area.. (they lease for HHN..)

where else??

(oh and it was a parking lot tram.. i could am sure cause it looked similar to disney's... just colored blue and more universal colors..)
