Interim show 'The Jungle Book: Alive with Magic' confirmed to debut ahead of Rivers of Light

I mean, I thought the same thing too, with the track record for keeping temporary placeholders and killing off planned major attractions (Camp Minnie-Mickey), but I feel like they would have not made such a big stink about Rivers of Light tonight at the press event and the flowers, the new pieces, etc, had they no plan to keep it moving forwards. If I were Disney PR and knew that RoL was gonna be killed, I would have restricted the press to the Tree of Life tonight and mentioned The Jungle Book as a temporary show rather than have them sit down and watch what is presumably the middle of RoL -- especially because what they DID show was pretty hype-worthy.

I wonder if the lotus fountain barges will be used in the Jungle Book show?

I get a sense that the problem with the show currently is that all the barges, including the lotuses, are to move around each other in complex choreography, thus the visual interest and the cool part of the show. If they can't move by themselves without bumping into each other I have no clue how they'll get them onstage for the Jungle Book show. Maybe the four lotuses are safe enough on their own...? Or maybe someone can remote-control them.

Right. They only have a month to put this together, so there is no way it can reach the levels of Rivers of Light. My guess will be the floats will either not be used or will be fixed in place.

Good on them for putting something together in light of the disappointment of not being ready.

I have to laugh at the suggestion this means RoL is cancelled permanently. Because yes, they are just going to throw away all those barges, fountains and autonomous vehicles.

On the other hand, it certainly means there is no pressure to have RoL ready for anytime soon.
Don't forget Disneyland's Light Magic. It was more than just barges that got discarded and never used again. This could be very short-sided of them to do an interim show as it could go either way. When Rivers of Light actually premieres and they advertise their new nighttime show many guests could say I already saw that and I don't need to see it again....or they could say I like The Jungle Book show better!

Granted, we haven't seen what this interim show will be. However, a big part of the disappointment I have is that ROL has been Disneyfied with the Jungle Book inclusion. I would have greatly preferred for them to go ahead with the other new attractions/entertainment and give us the full ROL when ready and without a Disney tie-in as was originally planned... THAT was something refreshing to look forward to.

At least it is a "live action" style film rather than the original animated version they are using for this show.

Rivers of Light will happen.

Enjoy your thrown together in a week show in the interim.

Don't even try to justify it. It'd be better just to not do anything. They could easily keep the park open with the other night offerings.

If anyone here honestly believes this clip show for jungle book is killing ROL in anyway you are delusional. ROL is going nowhere this is a very weak cushion to soften the blow that ROL really isn't coming till mid to late summer.

Well at least its something, I'm withholding judgement until I see the final product. Still, I'm bummed my parents won't get to see Rivers of Light this August.
Where does this fall date keep coming from? ROL based off every conversation I have had with anyone close to the project is aiming for July.
