So why does anyone do a dinner package?

Well on the dining plan, its only 1 credit so you are not losing anything. I guess you roll the dice for the OOP package.

From the site

  • The Jungle Book: Alive with Magic is subject to change or cancellation without notice. Dining packages will not be refunded due to show cancellation or modification.

It amazes me how many pay extra for seating at these shows when you can do the same with fastpass (basically)

I know the rain in Orlando usually happens in the afternoon not the evening, but with rain happening almost every day in Orlando, it seems like this is going to happen often. I can't believe the rain refund policy is "I hope you can come back later".
Isn't that the same rain policy as the Fantasmic dining package? You've already eaten so you're just not getting refunded for the extra you'd be paying for preferential seating?

It was my first time seeing the show tonight and I very much enjoyed it. I wish the signers were a little closer to the audience, that's my only gripe. I'll definitely be watching it again.

And I should care about that why?

Because your statement is so utterly contradictory to everything that you have been saying about the cuts and promotions.

This, for once, is hours being extended, and you are against that at the same time that you're against hours being shortened? And then this summer's promotion, for once, actually has substance, rather than Olaf in the Sun or whatever they've done in recent years, and yet you criticize marketing for both. What can they do right?

Your question is an odd one, but I will answer, since you asked. You're a frequent poster on this site, and so I naturally assume that you care about WDW and the topics that you post on. Therefore, it would be best not to contradict yourself, so that your opinion can be truly valued by others here or by Disney (if they happen to read what you say). Being completely contradictory makes the opinions kind of garbage. Others will just have to throw them out because they don't make any sense. And that's bad. That's why I think you should care. Whether you do or not is up to you, of course.

Hey, I'm 100% sure that I say contradictory things too. And I wish people would point them out to me so that I could clarify or correct myself. And then I could avoid the mistakes in the future. So I'm pointing this out to you just to help.

And with that, I hope to exit the thread, because I've posted enough here. Good night folks.

Why would it be anything different? Disney can't control the weather. It would be pretty ignorant of someone to pay that much for a package for an outside venue in Florida and think there's NOT the possiblility of a cancellation due to weather.

Here is our video from the first Jungle Book show.

So some thoughts.....

... I'm not usually one to watch YouTube videos of current shows but the odds of me ever seeing this show are somewhere around NEVER so I gave it a whirl....

I understand its a temporary show, a stopgap until ROL is fixed/finished/actually going. So my expectations were pretty low.... and they didn't even meet those.

It didn't make me want to see The Jungle Book, rather it made me want to avoid seeing it. There didn't seem to be any sort of plot, story, or basic narrative whatsoever. Its like they were trying to do a DAK-lite version of Fantasmic.... and failed miserably.

The short version? It didn't even make Disney show standards. It was much like the lumberjacks - a complete and utter train wreck that had no business being shown in a Disney park.

Thanks for the video, Steve.

The film is fantastic. As far as ground-breaking visuals go, it's the successor to Avatar. Easily my favorite film experience so far this year.

It was a question. A suggestion. Not a statement. Hence my over use of the word maybe.

With the main draw not ready I was asking should they have postponed the summers promotions? Had they past a point of no return? Should they have bothered with a plan B that a lot of people see as lacklustre? Better nothing rather than something bad?

You don't think so. Which is your opinion so is fine. Others seem to. Which is their opinion and is also fine.

I'm all for extending hours when there's enough to see and do - of quality - to warrant it. Like I've already said elsewhere I'm looking forward to trying the Night Safari myself. But that alone isn't enough to make me spend the whole evening in the park. Which is a shame since I was looking forward to trying RoL.

In this instance i think for once Disney is trying really hard to provide the best experience possible for the guest. Unlike any other recent years they are making a strong push to make at least one of their parks up to snuff. All in on Animal Kingdom seems to be the deal. I for one am glad. It is not a park for everyone but can be for many. The same people who love World Showcase should appreciate the culture found in Harambe Parties at night and Outdoor Festival of the Jungle Book (the show is more like FotLK to me).

If you cant enjoy the park at night at this time then you may not be the ones who "get it" during the day (which a couple of our insiders have admitted some bias to)...

I fast forwarded through most of the video in a couple minutes. My thoughts(probably unfair as I didn't watch the whole thing start to finish)...

1 - If it wasn't for the two recognizable Jungle Book songs, I'd swear I was watching a show based on Aladdin.

2 - How long of a "dance" performance can people watch before getting bored? 25 minutes of this? Really?

3 - After 5 minutes or so, the sitar makes me beg for a bottle of extra-strength tylenol.

Here's hoping that RoL comes sooner rather than later, and is a HUGE improvement over this.

Alright here's my review of the new night time at Animal Kingdom.

The safari ride I got it right at sunset so that was great. Seen a ton of animal and the rhinos were so close I could literally touch if allowed.

The Jungle Book show. The show was good. The dancers were great, could be more coordinated (I'm a dancer, I know). The atmosphere was good but the actual projects were poor. I figured since they are superb at Fantasmic it would be on par but the weren't. I guess that's what a soft opening is for.

The tree awakening. It was really good. Felt a bit weird though since it's something totally new. I expect good things in the future.

Finally the nighttime smaller block dance parties. They were probably on if the things that the park needs at night. It honestly in my opinion fits the park.

Overall it's a good start to the night time of the park and I'm super glad I got to be there on the opening.
I thought the same thing about the dancers while watching the video!!

Very accurate

It's like "hey lets throw a show together use india'n culture style music but say it's about the jungle book since that movie is out right now. We can throw some barely visible images up on the water screen of it, get some dancers and musicians, and even sing a few tunes from it. It'll be great!"

For some reason I thought there was going to be show table service for Rivers of Light similar to the World of Color Desert Package. If I remember correctly the Disneyland Fantasmic desert service charge is rain or shine, but I don't know what happens if Disney cancels the show.

If this is just the Fastpass that comes with dinner service elsewhere, I withdraw my question :)
