If inflation were adjusted for, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs would appear at the top of the chart with an adjusted gross of $1,977,000,000.
That's a twelfth of the U.S. annual gross domestic product.

If twelve movies did as well as Snow White back then, would they, together, have grossed as much as the U.S.'s GDP at that time?

I must take disclaimer here. Inside Out 2 is not actually the highest-grossing animated film all-time ($1.46 billion), because the 2019 version of The Lion King has grossed box office more ($1.66 billion), and is also a animated film (specifically photorealistic one), not live-action film as Disney and many others claim for marketing purposes.

Inside Out 2 still has $200M more to officially claim the title as the highest-grossing animated film all-time, and its theatrical release in Japan in August would be more crucial time for the film.

Disney could claim the title de-facto as its business, but officially, we must wait until Japanese theatrical release a week from now (August 1) to confirm this.

Saw it tonight. A very sweet movie, right up there with the original. Not quite as strong, but still very good. I think most of us can relate to this film, and the way they portrayed an anxiety attack was very visceral and real. The ending certainly made me a bit verklempt.
That was part was amazing. The last time I remember being so blown away was the flashing lights scene in Incredibles 2 (before they toned it down). Both scenes demonstrated what amazing things could be done with animation.

That is 3 months in theaters, pretty average these days. Its already made $1.5B in theaters, its pretty much made what its going to make by now.
I partly understand what you meant, but it is still making over a million dollars a day, and made over 6 million last weekend. It made more than 15 million last week which is more than some movies made at the box office. it is still the #5 movie on a daily basis. It is still making money.

Just because its getting a digital release date doesn't mean its leaving theaters that same day. As is standard it'll still likely remain in theaters for another month or so, so there is still opportunity to see it in theaters if people would like.

However Disney feels they've made a majority of its money already which is why they giving it a digital release.

I was responding to your comment "its pretty much made the money its going to make now" which isn't true. I get where you were going, but it is misleading. It is still doing very well in theaters and making good money.

Semantics. Yes its still making some money today, but that gets less and less every day it continues. So do you really believe it'll still be making over $1M per day by August 20th when it goes to digital, 13 days from now? Probably not. So its made a majority of all the money its going to make theatrical, which is what I'm saying. So it wasn't misleading, its the reality of how theatrical works.

I don't think Disney thought it would do this well at the box office otherwise they would have delayed digital releases. Heck, I'm still waiting on Godzilla Minus One.

Which makes me wonder WHY THIS MOVIE? Why did it do so well? Is it timing? The gods smiling on the project? Granted it is a good movie and it doesn't fall into internet traps. Remember, Elio was suppose to be released first but got delayed a year.

Godzilla Minus One has been available since June 1st on digital release.

Also how do you know that the August 20th digital release isn't an already delayed date?

Physical media is still not available.
You didn't mention physical media, just digital release, which was June 1st.

How would I know that?
That is the point, you're making an assumption without any facts. You're assuming that Disney just picked August 20th prior to it knowing how IO2 was doing. You don't know that. The fact that its taking 3 months to even announce a digital release date indicate they have been watching how IO2 was doing before announcing it.
