Exactly what I was thinking...

While the inferno barge is out there will be no inferno (giant fire ball) in the center of the lagoon. My guess (and I have no real info it is just opinion) is that the inferno barge will return however I don't think the ALF launced pyro (first two in the show) will return. I think they will most likely continue to do those alternative ways.MJL said:So if you had to guess how long do you think it would be before Illuminations is back to normal?
By the inferno barge being down, does this mean there is no "fire blasts" at all or just some of the normal fireworks shells that are launched?
I will be there in a few days, and my wife has never seen it before. Are these major missing pieces to the show or just minor pieces of the show?
Many thanks
Marty

I wonder if the change in those first two shots is really that noticeable... the way it has always been done (with the air launch) made for a really neat effect.
Thats good to hear. In that case while a little dissapointing for a frequent visitor, at least it doesn't sound like the show is any less impressive for a first time guest -which is what really matters, in my opinion.wdwmagic said:I have seen RoE run without the inferno on New Years Eve 1999/2000. Due to the massive amount of pyro they had in the lagoon, they didnt want to risk the flames settings any of it off, so it was turned off. It did reduce the impact of the opening, but it wasnt as bad as you might expect.

In some ways I enjoyed the show more, the colors of the other fireworks that go off when the fire ball is normally roaring seems richer and better. In some ways it makes a nice change of pace.

Yes, sadly it is true. The inferno barge is out of the show indefinetly. The damage is pretty extensive, and with current reports from the department, it may not be returning in time for the holiday season.EPCOT_pyro said:The reason there were so many support boats out there because it was during the 2nd half of setup. The barges are brought out in 2 sets: EarthGlobe and 2 Maxi barges, and in the 2nd set: Inferno and the final 2 maxi barges. The official word is that there was a pyro malfunction with the inferno A.L.F. launch system, there was absolutely nobody hurt, and the cause of the malfunction is still under investigation. I assure you that it will be more that 5 days to bring back into show. Inferno will be out of show indefinitely, until the investigation is complete, and the inferno barge is rebuilt, or whatever it is they want to do.
