Just bumping up an older thread to see if there are any updates on the inferno barge's repairs. Any word on how repairs are going and, if so, is there any proposed time plan to have the barge back in the show?
The only update from the department in recent weeks is that because of damage, estimates are leaning towards building a new barge to replace the old one. This may or may not be accurate information, and they may have already started building a replacement. The staff realizes they have very little time to waste if attempts are going to be made to bring the fire element and original big bang back into the show before the holiday season begins (in case you don't already know, the "Peace on Earth" tag will be added again to the end of Illuminations this year).

I`d like to know too. And are there any videos of the current show available yet??

Cheers

I don't know if anyone ever mentioned it but it seems like they filled in the inferno spot with a lot of lasers. It seems to me the previous show did not contain lasers when they had the fire.

I haven't seen any reports of how the show plays without the damaged barge. Is it safe to assume that the effect on the show is neglible (at least to those who've never experienced it before)?

I am eager to introduce Illuminations to my relatives this November, having raved about it for a couple of years now; it would be disappointing if the effects were diminished.

I'm not whining, mind you. These things happen. I just want to know what to expect.

We saw it the week following the accident, and I've gotta be honest... We were REALLY disappointed at how much the show was lacking without the inferno barge. We really felt like it took the best show in all of WDW and turned it into "just another fireworks show". The differences are completely noticeable, if you've seen the show even once. If you've never seen the show, you wouldn't notice anything... But I also believe the "wow" factor would be a ton less for those first-timers.

That being said... It's out of everyone's control, and accidents happen. Obviously no one WANTS the show to be changed like it is currently. So if you bear that in mind and recall that during the show, it still comes off okay. In fact, if there's one positive, it would be that it allows you to focus on other areas of the show that usually you might gloss over because you're busy watching the biggest BBQ grill in the world amaze you over and over.

yeah its a shame not to have the inferno barge there but mean its still a great show without it. We have been there a few times and one night there has been the inferno and next night or a couple nights later its not on, but not sure if this was just to change things up a bit with more pyro instead of the fire. Well by the next time ill be watching it in person i would imagine it will be back or a new one in place...it is next july afterall.

So........anyone know when it will be back?
Current reports from the department were that they would have to replace, not repair, the damaged barged. They WANT to get it back before the holiday season, but I can gaurantee you they won't put something out there that could potentially explode like the last inferno barge did. Once the air launch firework system has been investigated to determined what cause the accident (meaning if it was the system or just a false fire), they will be able to figure out what to do next. The investigation may already be over, but no one knows because it is being kept under wraps.

So the question remains...

Will it be out in time for the Holidays?

Anyone?

 That is why I am asking... to see if anyone "in the know" out there... knows.

Asumming that it's still under investigating, nobody would now. They would not start working on the a new one (or reparing the old one) unless they were sure of the cause of the accident. Therefore there would be no timetable for completion of repair or construction.

.... let me rephrase the question then........... *sigh*

Does anyone "in the know" know how the investigation is coming along.
