Updates: Indy Speedway-got Gas?

HAHAH Hope you like the title :)...I hope no one else posted this..sorry if they did. I looked but I didn't see anything. I thought this was interesting to share...from Mouseplanet.com (http://www.mouseplanet.com/articles.php?art=wd080114mg under the quick takes section)

The Tomorrowland Indy Speedway has been testing out a couple of alternative-fuel vehicles recently. One car uses a gas/electric hybrid motor, while the other uses Ethanol-85 (E-85) fuel. If you've had the opportunity to ride in one of these vehicles, let us know how it drove (and smelled)!:ROFLOL:

Very interesting and good! Finally they get new gas!:) Correct me if I'm wrong..is the Hong Kong version battery powered??

I think this is in the right step for Disney! I hope it works out..because I've heard its hell to work that attractions and the gas and fumes it one of the big reasons!

Is there any more new though on the buses going green there has been talk about that??

EDIT: On Page two is an update that I posted about the testing...will guest get to try it out...or will castmembers be the guinea pigs?? lol Check it out:animwink:

If they did go Ethanol they could just pop up a McDonald's Fry shack nearby and if that stuff does smell like fried foods they might make a killin'. Or do I have the wrong GAS smell in mind...

Lol..Ya it will be like back to the future two....throw your leftover fries that have gone soggy into the car to make it run! lol....

And for the ones that will miss the smell...maybe they will move it to the referb of Figment ...instead of skunk...he will tranform into a car :zipit: its to get a conservation message across! Then there will be some education added to it :) lol Just kidding

Not old, just vintage.

Hey, they could even recycle the used fry oil, convert it, and put it in the cars. I think I would take a McFries smell over the current one. I pity anyone who has to work that attraction. Between the smell and the noise, I would never survive.

I think it is a matter of time before the buses go green too. I am sure it will cost a small fortune to green-ify the bus system, but it will be worth it in the long run. Either that, or they could spend the millions of $ to expand the monorail system. :lookaroun

yes, it's perfect marketing for Disney, get the fuel they want and the smell will convince everyone to buy french fries.

I worked there for four months (not by choice), and it is awful. Definitely among the worst jobs a CM could get placed in.

This is a good move by them, and I'm suprised it didn't come sooner. Because the cars use regular gas, the Tomorrowland Indy Speedway is by far the most expensive attraction to operate in all of WDW. (and what a waste of money that is!)

Actually, that would be bio-diesel. :D So, why not electric?

As much waste as WDW goes through, it would be neat to see them be able to convert the waste into fuel for the vehicles.

Now if there was a way they could wirelessly make the cars stop within a certain distance of each other. I get tired of having dummies behind me bump into my car at the load/unload.

I HATE Indy Speedway... based on the fact that I cannot breathe on a hot humid day, mixed with exhaust fumes, when I walk by this attraction. I have been begging for this attraction to go "green" for ages. This seems like a step in the right direction! :):king:

Given that the attraction is in Tomorrowland and the emphasis WDW/Disney puts on forward-thinking and innovation, I would have thought something like this is way, way overdue. It's noisy, wasteful, and potentially harmful; therefore, this is clearly a positive trend.

Not to hi-jack the thread.....best intentions or not, please dont give them any ideas on opening MORE fry shacks.

I think this is a step in the right direction...which is long overdue, but why not have electric cars??? That track has a giant foot print.. They could surely Disneyfy some solar panels in the middle of the track to help with the recharging... Then again, I would imagine the imagineers thought all this out... Plus the electric cars aren't all they are cracked up to be!!

Ya but I think the golf carts at Fort Wilderness go faster than these bad boys! AND they are battery powered. THe only thing is that they need to be charged for a long time:(

I think this is cool. I just wish our society would start doing the same thing. Gas pollutes and it's expensive.

why not go completely cutting edge and run them on water? Or do a combination of a few technologies? That would definitely make people want to reride to try a different car.
