Indiana Jones stunt show update?

Also, I'm confused as to how they're going to find enough stunt performers who actually look like Harrison Ford. If it becomes more of a story-driven show, the look of the actors should theoretically matter a whole lot more from a casting perspective. Currently the actors are just Indy's stunt double and they don't really pass as his doppelgangers, generally speaking.

That how the Stunt industry works. Looks come a close second to ability.

I have a buddy who KINDA looks a little like Harrison Ford? Anyway,he's a really good actor and used to live in NYC back in the late 90's/Early 2000 and one of the auditions he went on was for this show-they actually offered him the job he just didnt want to relocate to Orlando. He said the pay and the benefits were really tempting, and even after he turned them down they still pursued him for a little bit because of his acting and his close-enough resemblance to Ford.

It's interesting that they are saying that all of the "making a movie" elements will be removed. That would require a pretty major change to the show.

If the rumored downtime of a year or so is true, I expect a completely new show.

Very exciting rumor.

Perhaps I'm just too critical, but I feel much of the current cast just doesn't quite fit the look of a younger Harrison Ford. I understand that's how it works in Hollywood, but I feel it's harder to find the look AND the talent in Orlando these days.

Have you researched this, how do you know? Every seat I've sat in when I've seen the show has been far enough away that you couldn't really tell how much the stuntman resembled Harrison Ford anyway. I've literally never heard a guest comment on this either, it's never been an issue or a thought.

Their auditions are not exclusively held in Orlando

Nope. No research. This is all speculation based on what I know about the current state of the entertainment industry in Orlando. What I do know is that there are very few actors currently at Indy that I personally would consider "face character" quality. They look more like body doubles. I say this knowing very well that I'm not their casting director.

True, but as someone mentioned previously, Orlando is not always a place stunt actors want to relocate to - even with incentives. It's much harder to get side gigs doing stunts here than in a town where the film industry is thriving.

That’s because they are supposed to be Stunt doubles. They aren’t supposed to be Harrison Ford. They make this quite clear in the current show.

Which brings us right back to my original post. I feel if they update the show to make it so that the stunt actors are actually supposed to be portraying Indy, Disney will have a hard time finding actors that look like him and can do the stunts. This was the point I was trying to make. It would significantly limit their pool of talent.

Imagine if they end up refurbishing the show and they don't have the live actors do the stunts, and instead have those "stuntronics" do all the work. Hope that doesn't happen.
I was actually going to post about that. Especially if they updated it to include Indy 4 and they did a "nuke the fridge" kind of thing. That's really the only thing that I can think they would need an animatronic stunt double for.

AS far as an update- I'd love to see one . It's about time. I think several people (including myself) have posted about it previously on these forums. As far as salt-I'll carry my grain for awhile on this one. It's one that I hope comes true.

Yeah let’s not do something innovative and stick to our old ways for selfish reasons. To be honest I would have no problem with them using stuntronics as a new form of entertainment I mean what’s the issue ???

The last time I saw Indy, one of the props didn't work and the show stopped dead. The guy playing Indy sat down beside a Jeep, leaned back, pulled his fedora over his face and took a nap. I wished I had a fedora because damn, it was a hot day! Humid too. The show resumed after about 10 minutes. It was fun, but I was there mainly for the shade.

This show is old, but I loved it in its day and I still usually catch it every other trip.

A reimagining is exactly what this show needs! I don’t think there have been any changes to it since the late nineties. Some new stunts, sets with the latest tech to bring the show into the 21st Century could attract people back to the show. That said it is always close to full when I see it.

This is the only stunt show at WDW and it’s a nice departure from the Princess and Cartoon stage shows.
