They did the Asian thing in DL and they have the Mayan thing in Japan. So, do an Egyptian pyramid. Very Hollywood.
Dear Chipmunk Star,
I hate to tell you this but I figured out your identity. My skills of deduction have lead me to two possibilities: Either you are Chip or Dale. Pick a better alias next time.
Yes, but...but...Star Tours and Body Wars are the same ride (or were since Body Wars is no more). That just shows the problem with having Indy and Dinosaur at WDW. Star Tours and Body Wars may have been completely different in theming but the ride experience was largely the same. That's not the say people didn't have preferences. People who loved Star Wars preferred Star Tours, and people who liked having their necks broken by too-jerky movement and terrible line readings preferred Body Wars. But once you decided which was superior, you were unlikely to make riding both a priority, and it doesn't make sense for Disney to make a massive investment in Indy. It's similar to saying Star Tours and Body Wars are the same ride.
Only thing shared is the track layout, all effects, surroundings, and most importantly, the movement of the EMV are vastly different. Even the pacing is different for both rides...
I agree, great postGreat post. And best Que ever in my opinion.
Before we put this one to rest (again) a few facts:
Dinosaur is identical to Indiana Jones and the Temple of the Forbidden Eye in main show building construction, elevations, track layout and infrastructure. Identical.
WDW was to get the Indy EMV. The original plan for Dinosaur was to have it outside. Eisner wanted it indoors for more effect and assigned the then in R&D Indy plans to DAK with a new theme. Since then the price has gone in one direction and it isn`t down. Any money available will go for the forseeable future into more pressing needs at the Studios.
I hate to say it but... not every ride has to be at Disney World. We have unique experiences, so why can't Disneyland? (and no, "but i want it!" doesn't count as an answer)
As much as I love Indy at DL (I rode it 5 times in one trip), I kinda think it's a good idea to only have it in DL and not in WDW. From a business perspective, it makes people visit both resorts, which I think every Disney fan should do, even if you decide you don't care for one or the other. I like WDW better, but DL's Indy, superior PotC, superior (at the moment) Space Mountain, original Tiki Room, improved Buzz, Matterhorn, and many more Fantasyland rides, and not to mention milder weather, make me want to take a DL trip at least every few years for variety. So WDW not having one of DL's greatest rides may not be the worst thing. Just think of the silver lining.
It doesn't really matter, not that many people from the east coast go to DL. Not even very many Disney fans. And they're all missing out on such a great ride.
