In Search of the Purple Cat & Other Wild Goose Chases

Introductions...and Day 1: Getting settled, getting snacks and heading Dowtown

Well, it's been about a week since we got back...I'm almost done editing and uploading pics...and I've channeled my inner Jennings Osborne and covered my house with lights as best as I can...so, I guess it's time to get this trip report rolling. I don't have many pics for this early section, but I promise you----I have a TON of pics...so please be patient.

If you had a chance to read my PTR, this trip was a surprise for my younger daughter's (Sammie) 4th bday. We also have a 6 yr old daughter named Kendall who got her own surprise WDW trip back for her 5th bday. Sadly- the surprise for Sammie kind of fizzled, but by our departure day (Nov 14th) they were bouncing off the ceiling with excitement.

First things first...I had to get our Daisy Doggy to doggy camp.

Yeah, the girls thought it would be fun to put an 'Ohana lei on her...that didn't last long.

There was MAJOR drama with boarding though...like, "am I going to miss my vacay for this?" kind of drama. Essentially, the girl who took my reservation booked me for October instead of November, and they were booked solid b/c my dates included Thanksgiving. It all worked out in the end, but it was a very ugly 45 minutes. Still, with the dog boarded, we were pretty much ready to go.

We hit the road from the Houston area around 8:15pm. The girls were so excited that they actually stayed awake much longer than expected, but they were both out before we crossed into Louisiana. They woke up each time we stopped for gas, but that was fine b/c it served as bathroom breaks for them and the people with the graveyard shifts at the various gas station convenience stores got a kick out of the girls' road trip bed time attire. They were both in Christmas pjs...Kendall an elf and Sammie as Santa. Kendall also had big furry bunny slippers and Sammie had her ladybugs.

I drove from Houston to the Alabama state line. I couldn't even tell you what time it was when DH took over for me. I went a bit crazy between eastern Louisiana and through Mississippi. I was drinking Diet Mountain Dew and had a couple 20oz diet Red Bulls + peanut butter M&Ms. Let's just say I was WIRED! Around midnight, several stations switched over to holiday music...so just picture me all energized, having a holiday sing a long in the driver's seat, dancing in my seat...and all while everyone else slept! Yeah- it's a good thing there was next to nobody on the road.

The rest of the drive was pretty uneventful. DH and I switched off a lot after that just so I could get in some naps. The griping came as we got closer to Orlando...he hates tolls. Still, it was the sign that we were almost there. I was hoping to get some great video of our arrival, but this was the trip where nothing choreographed would work for us. So, you have a pic just before we see the glorious Maingate...

Even my first arrival pic at Yacht Club was pretty pathetic...

I guess at least the pics I was able to get improved...

What really happened, DH and I had a misunderstanding about signs, where to go and what I'd be doing. In a nutshell, I didn't know he was expecting me to navigate. I did take a video (deleted), but it wasn't fit for all audiences.

We parked my vehicle and went to check in. I didn't want to mess with the bags if the room wasn't ready. It was about 3pm and I'd listed our estimated arrival time as 11:30am when doing online checkin. Not sure if it helped, but our room was ready. Which was good because I was a little let down that the guy who checked us in wasn't very enthusiastic or personable. So, since the room was ready we opted to check out the room before figuring out the bag situation. i.e. if it was close enough, we might bring in our own bags. Too bad our room was a million miles away...I swear, any farther and we'd be staying at the Dolphin.

The room was really nice though...a corner room on the 1st floor with a quiet pool from our patio view and a nice water area and lush greenery from our two side windows.

Almost, based on this look out on the WS...

Almost there...

And we have arrived!

And we are the very first people there. The place is totally empty minus CMs preparing for the breakfast rush...even Belle isn't in place yet.

By the time they brought Belle out, there were two other families up there with us, but I only really saw the kids up at the rope with Sammie and Kendall. Everyone also got to wish Belle good morning before photos started.

So, I'll tell ya now that I left the photo they took of the girls back on the table, so we're stuck solely with my pics of the girls of Belle. Hey- I initially left my camera back there too, but thankfully they came running after me with that (my brain was zapped!). So, back to Belle pics...

At least we're seated immediately after this and it's a fairly pretty part of the restaurant.

And what would this report be without a light fixture???

They're also festive in here...

And now for the usual drill...DH and Sammie go up to the buffet while Kendall and I hang behind for a chat with the chef...and she is in a silly silly mood.

The chef arrives and covers everything that is off limits. Dh came back right after that...so I got to see what little Sammie was in the mood to eat this morning... Breakfast of Champions!

I guess at least she's eating it...

After that, Kendall and I head up to the cold buffet. While we're waiting, I turn around and realize that I know the man on line right behind us. I've worked with him for a number of years and he's currently in a department one floor above me. So, we start chatting and are in total shock over running into someone we know while at WDW. What's really crazy...they were seated next to us in Akershus, they were that family in my photo I saw coming in from Future World, and I'd see him a little later on - right in front of me at a FastPass machine for Soarin'. It's a Small World After All!!!

So, this is a character meal after all and first up was Jasmine...

I have to say...I've never seen Jasmine in her winter clothes before!

Next up was Aurora...

Let's just say that the girls weren't really into this meeting.

Snow White was next...

She was a much bigger hit. This is actually the first time we've had a really good Snow White at any of the princess meals. While I know the voice is a forced thing, hers sounded a little more natural and she had a lot to say about things particular to her character.

Now, if you've ever eaten at Akershus, you know there's a princess parade. Kendall was a bit bothered that none of the princesses selected them to lead their sections with them. Cinderella had selected her back on their 2010 trip, but I tried to explain to her that every visit is different and sometimes it's just fun to be a part of it. So, at least they got up and joined in the fun...which is good, because I couldn't convince them to be in the Crystal Palace parade the previous day.

And a big hug from daddy for getting over some of her shyness issues with the parade...

You'll also notice that their hair is still all done up. I just didn't have the energy to take it all down come bath time...so I decided to save that for this night since we'd planned on our Epcot day to be an earlier night. It at least looked nice for Akershus, although this is the first time I've noticed a ton of princess dresses at this meal. Maybe it's because it's breakfast, but there were definitely a lot more kiddos in princess attire this time around. That's OK b/c these girlies were perfectly fine in tutus and character shirts. Kendall had also ripped a hole in her Merida dress the day before (shocked that she didn't have a fit about it), so that wasn't an option anyway.

So, after the parade it was back to the last princess in the rotation...

I was really looking forward to Ariel...she's usually so in character and great with the kids - plus she's Sammie's fave. I'm not sure if this was a new Ariel or what, but she was very hyper and was thrown off a little bit by us trying to converse with her as Ariel. i.e. talking about Flounder and Dinglehoppers, etc.

I felt like I was slipping during this meal...no pics of my plate from the buffet, no family style food plate pics of the main food, etc. The reality, I just wasn't all that into it. Part of the problem was that we started out rough...I was up with Kendall getting that first plate of food when Sammie came up to get us from the buffet because a character was coming. Apparently DH got up to do something and she didn't know where he was, but she knew where we were...and then there's me leaving our pic and the camera back at the table. I guess at least this was the most boring aspect of our day.

A few side notes for those of you considering the pre-park opening breakfast at Akershus...
1. Check-in for this meal was the least chaotic of any of our Akershus meals
2. We finished before 9am, so you can easily make the run over to Soarin' at park opening
3. It actually felt a tad creepy to be in Epcot when it's this empty
4. While I'll get into more detail in the next day of the report, I think CRT wins the battle of the princess breakfasts...at least from our experiences. Lunch and dinner are still a draw.

So, we loaded up into the stroller...

...and were just waiting on DH so we could make the trek to Soarin'.

And here he is now...

And we have arrived...

We grabbed some fastpasses...

...but standby was only listed at like 15 or 20 minutes, so we decided to start out riding standby.

Like usual, the line moved slower than expected, but with Sammie measuring up for this and the wait still being relatively short, we were like- why not? We had a nice chat with a family in line behind us who helped psych the girls up for pin trading...and before we knew it...it was almost time to board....

I wasn't really concerned about Sammie with this one...it's just such a calming ride. She enjoyed it and was very happy to know that we'd be riding again in a little bit.

Maybe it was all that "flying," but the kids were beyond thirsty at the point...so at least we had a great option right there...

We had wanted to ride Living with the Land, but check out the INSANE line...

Everyone coming downstairs thought they were looking at a line for Soarin' it was just so long. There was just no way we were going to wait in that...so, we'd have to table it for later once the line trickled down a bit.

Have I ever mentioned how much I love these???

...and it won't be my last pic of them this day either.

So, we head out and go to where we know there will be little to no wait.

It just always makes me kind of sad when I think about what this used to be. My first trip to WDW with DH in 1998 would be the last time I'd see it the way it was on my first trip in 1985. Still, the funny thing...the kids still enjoy it in its current state...so, it's worth the time.

Like I said, they still have a blast here...

It still wasn't fastpass time, so we decided to try Nemo since it's a continuous loading ride...

Of course the line wound up being MUCH longer than I would have liked, but the girls were pretty set on riding it...and how could I say no?

So, I just started snapping pics like usual...

And then I decided...hey, let's take pics inside the interior queue. Not sure why, but I just kept playing with camera settings to get pics....

So, we went under the sea with Nemo and Friends...I was a little bummed that we didn't see any dolphins towards the end, but what can ya do?

Our Fastpass window just opened up for Soarin'...so we headed back...

Up Next...Soarin' Part 2 and More Epcot Fun

OK, so picking back up...we were on our way back in for round 2 of Soarin'.

It's funny...DH started bringing up while walking in the FP line that we always end up on the left side and we should ask to go right if they try and make us go left. Oy...well, thankfully we were just directed to the right, so that solved that problem.

Then he got on this kick about row 1 being the best row and anything else sort of destroys the illusion because of the dangling feet. I agreed, but I also didn't want to wait around to be #1.

So, we get down to the loading area and we're told to wait right here at the end of the line...

So yea, at this point we all have our hopes up that we'll be in row 1. We're directed to B...

...but we're told to just hang out right there and not load any rows in the preshow area...so we hang out for a while on the floor.

When we're finally told to file into our rows, we're all pretty happy...because...

We're #1! We're #1!

And it really did make a difference and DH was a happy boy! The girls also really enjoyed this ride...so many wow moments for them!

And see... more pics of these thingies...

...and I'm pretty sure there are even more later on.

So, we head out and venture past this lovely Mickey on the way to our next destination.

A destination which just happens to be...

...that's right...

The line is fairly long, but it's moving and we figure we should be OK as long as it doesn't break down. Then, this little sweet face looks up at me...

...and it's about to be a potty emergency...so, we leave the line for SSE.

The line for SSE gets even longer while we're in the restroom, so we decide we'll just revisit it later. Next we head to something that the girls have never done and DH and I haven't done since 1998.

While I'd take Horizons any day over this for a nostalgia kick, I do have fond memories of this one. Back in 1985, it was so new and fresh...many of my school friends even considered it to be a bit scary. I rode this one with my parents every single time I visited Epcot with them, but I was treated to a slightly different experience with this one when DH and I rode it in 1998. Back then, Exxon was still the sponsor and DH's dad was with Exxon at the time. He contacted us just before the trip with a surprise ... he gave us directions to a side door for the attraction and we were to tell them we were guests of his. Essentially, he granted us VIP status at Universe of Energy for the day. So, we got to hang out and have refreshments in the VIP lounge, were given first choice of seating on the ride portion of the attraction, and had an open invitation to return at any point in that day for more refreshments, etc. should we make it back that way. So...fond memories of this one even if it's dubbed as kind of cheesy now.

We had a little bit of a wait and we were certainly not VIPs today, so I just shot pics of flowers while we waited.

And finally, we're in and we have a real seat for the pre-show...bonus!

And finally, time for my fave part...DINOSAURS!!!!

And blurry ones at that! Seriously though, I love this part of it...but poor Sammie was terrified. I just had to hold her and had her close her eyes. DH said Kendall wasn't much better...and to think he'd still fight me a bit on trying to take them on Dinosaur...no way! If Universe of Energy dinosaurs are scary...well, actual Dinosaur would probably mean therapy for them after the trip.

By the end portion of the movie...both girls were bored to tears. They were begging to leave, but we just kept quietly telling them they'd have to be patient.

And it's finally time to leave...and I decide on another flower pic...

A thought...imagine me during Flower & Garden...the number of pics is a scary thought!

So, I pulled some FPs for Mission Space since the wait is a bit long and with no Test Track...our options are limited. I'll tell ya right now, we hit a goal of mine for this trip that makes us miss the FP window, but it was worth it...IMO.

So, we decide to head to the World Showcase...

My goal was to start off with margaritas (it sounded like a GREAT plan), but everyone else had a different idea. Yeah...they wanted to see our favorite duck.

Let me just say...this Donald was in full character more than any Donald I've ever seen in the parks, in parades, meals...you name it. This was feisty, fiery, semi-angry (yet Lovable) Donald ... the one who is beyond jealous Mickey. He was definitely up for posing for pics, but anyone who "taunted" him with typical things that might bother Donald got the full Donald treatment. I mean, he would go marching up to parents, people in line, you name it. It was so much fun and I think everyone getting pics with him got some great ones as a result. I know I got some webbed foot tapping and beak shaking with some of my provocation. So, major props to the CM playing Donald here b/c they nailed it.

Well, you get the idea...awesome Donald!!!

Now can you guess where we're headed next???

If you guessed Norway...you'd be right.

We decided it was time to start drinking and snacking around the World (guess I'm missing my margarita...darn good thing we live in Texas or I'd be really upset). So, we head into Kringla...and look...festive lights!!!

Really, I'm just in here for one thing.

School bread! And it was yummy! I took a chance and let Kendall try some and thankfully all was fine. The girls and I loved it, but DH hates coconut...so none for him. That's OK...he got me a Carlsberg!

That beer would also lead to an interesting situation. Kendall really likes Maelstrom, and while the wait was a bit long...we decided we could drink our beers as we waited.

Well, the line moved a little more quickly than expected and we couldn't take our beer inside, so we had to leave the line. HOWEVER- this super sweet CM said we could finish our beers and come back and he'd just let us right in. I didn't want to take the chance that he'd be gone when we returned and we'd already hit our window for those Mission Space ones we wouldn't be using, so I got FPs for Maelstrom. DH thought I was nuts, but it was an insurance policy in my opinion.
So, while we drank - the girls noticed that the same Norwegian CM had pins...so, they wanted to pin trade while we waited.

After pin trading had been completed, we went over to check out the store windows and saw what I'd dubbed the Christmas Troll...

Turns out he was part of the new Agent P activity around the WS. Red lights go off and his head opens up when activated with the remote for the game. The girls really wanted to play, but we were still not sure if we'd meet my goal of making it around the world...so we talked them out of it.

So, another pic as we sat and drank...hey, it's good beer!

Beers are now gone and we head back up to Maelstrom. Thankfully, that CM was still there and he let us right in through the FP area...and it wasn't long before we were boarding our vessel.

Silly me even shot this from the ride as it makes you think you're going to fall out over the rocks.

After the ride, we decided to do some shopping...well, DH actually decided to do some troll taunting.

And Sammie channeled her inner Viking...

We made her skip the shield, but she bought the foam sword. That thing seems relatively harmless until she slaps you with it!

We passed by China...didn't actually head in, but stopped for a moment to watch some of the entertainers from afar.

Now there's one thing I've learned about all of us...we have a hard time passing on random drums just sitting around waiting to be played...

And really, the family that drums together...

...goes deaf together?

So, we leave the drums behind and head into Germany...

Before doing anything else...we go over to see the trains.

Sorry, but I just kind of love trains. We have several family members who have taken that love so far that instead of media rooms, or play rooms...or even attics or basements in some cases...they have train rooms with heavily designed tracks. Love it! So this definitely struck a chord with me.

So, we're feeling kind of hungry and thirsty and decide to head into Sommerfest for some tasty stuff.

Yes...tasty beer!!!

We actually got one of each of what they offered...a Radeberger and an Altenmunster...

...oh yea, and we got a brat and a frank as well.

There was no place to sit...so we just found a place to stand that was at least semi-comfy and I took pics of all that was around as we snacked...

We also saw Agent P come out a number of times...

...as well as Doof...

I was hoping to pick up some sweet treats for us...

...but the crowd/lines in there were INSANE!!!

Now, I thought Kringla lacked organization, but this was pure chaos. I waited for at least 10 minutes and barely moved. I snapped a few pics while I waited...

...but I just eventuall gave up. I know, sad, but I also wasn't going to wait for an hour to get caramel goodness... no matter how good it is. Maybe next time.

We moved on to Italy...

It was at this point that it hit me that we were actually going to make it all the way around the World. We never make it deep into the WS with the girls...so, this was a big first for them. It also hit DH that it was at about this point back in 1998 that we'd decided we really needed to travel to Europe. By 2000, we made that a reality, but it was kind of nice to look back on it all years later and remember the inspiration and the trip.

We really weren't planning on doing anything in Italy, but DH had a potty emergency. LOL! He actually had to go into Tutto to find a restroom. So, I stayed outside with the girls and we had picture fest in Italy.

And finally, I get to see where Via Napoli is...

It is also getting really chilly at this point and pizza is sounding really good, even though I'm still pretty full from beer and brat.

Sammie's using this time to learn how to use her sword...

She just loves taunting me...like "hey mom, dare me to slice up these flowers???"

She's bluffing, but it's still one of those "oh no!" moments...so I confine her to a bench for a while.

I try to start back up on photographing lighting...

...but now Kendall is jealous and wants some pics of herself.

HAM!

Bigger ham.

I just remembered...I wanted to backtrack to Norway...I know it's like countries and countries ago!

While we were shopping, Kendall bought 2 pins and then both girls pin traded with another CM on the way out. We were only about 500ft from where that pin trade took place and the pin Kendall received in her trade had already fallen off and was nowhere to be found. It was a cute Donald one and she was in tears. A random CM walked by and inquired about the source of her tears...she told Kendall that she didn't have any Donald pins, but that Kendall was willing to have any of the pins she did have...to try and make up for the lost pin...and she wouldn't need a pin in return. Sooooo sweet!

OK...back to where we were...

DH came out and we headed by the good ole USA...

I really wanted to stop because I love that show...but nobody else was in my corner with this one. So, we kept moving. And if that sky looks cold...it's because it was. I was FREEZING at this point, but I didn't want to go back to the hotel to get warmer clothes since it was starting to get later in the day and we had to start thinking about our dinner ADR. So, my only hope was to find a store with a shirt that I liked.

We headed into Japan...

I had been hoping to take the girls to Pick a Pearl, but we got side tracked with the Monchhichi dolls...

http://www.flickr.com/photos/houcusechickie/8233742019/

There was also nothing in here that I'd consider buying to keep me warm. Sorry, but I just really don't need a Hello Kitty shirt.

It was also about this time that a potty emergency moment hit the girls...so we headed up to the bathroom. At least the garden areas up there make for some pretty pictures.

On our way down, we realized that the show had started up.

It was pretty cool because you can get some great views from the side and there was nobody over there.

See the crowd difference from the front...

Up next...speeding through the rest of the world, warmth, dinner, and the rest of the night!

I hate it when I can't remember all my comments I want to make.

Losing pins is the biggest concern I have with getting our boys into pin trading. Maybe just a few off ebay or something. [EDIT: I'll be on ebay tonight. :)]

Doesn't Kringla have a non coconut school bread? Maybe I heard Master Yoda incorrectly. I thought he said they did. I'm not a coconut fan either.

You've had so many good CM interaction stories. We're so pumped for our trip in 173 days.

Doesn't Kringla have a non coconut school bread? Maybe I heard Master Yoda incorrectly. I thought he said they did. I'm not a coconut fan either.

You've had so many good CM interaction stories. We're so pumped for our trip in 173 days.

That happens to me all the time. I'll get ready to comment and forget half of the things I'd wanted to write about.

We went with cheapo lanyards this time and supposedly that makes pins more prone to falling off...so does the girls bouncing around like crazy kids. ;) @Alison1975 got these really great pin carriers for their last trip. I will probably invest in some now that I know my girls are totally in love with pin trading. Starting with ebay lots is a really good way to go. I made the mistake of giving the girls a few pins that were good enough that they shouldn't be traded. I mean, nothing super expensive, but special enough that they were advised not to trade them (it will come up on the last park day of the TR). So, I bought an ebay lot filled with things they'd just love to give up. LOL

I didn't see any coconut free school bread, but maybe it's available upon request. It certainly can't hurt to ask.

We had great CM experiences this trip and the very best is yet to come. Funny how 173 seems kind of far now, but next thing ya know...you'll be days out and wondering where all that time went. :)

Starting up again...I forgot one other thing from Norway (seems I've forgotten a lot in Norway!)...

As I'd noted...I pulled FPs for Maelstrom..FPs that we didn't use. After riding Maelstrom, I realized that the window for those FPs was about to open up, so it was time to spread the magic. I found a family of 4 at the end of the Maelstrom line and gave them my FPs. OK...back to our present spot in the WS...

As we approached Morocco, I started thinking Tangerine Cafe and baklava...and then I started thinking about Kendall. Baklava is one of my most favorite things, but it's also totally off limits at home. I just didn't want to have her around any kind of tree nuts since those seem to give her the worst reactions, so I skipped it and moved on.

And then we approach France...

I thought surely I'd get some yummy snackish goodness in France, but check out the line!!!!

As we can see on the clock below...it's nearly 5pm and we have a dinner ADR just after 6...so, it seemed kind of silly to wait...

...so yes, we skipped out on yummy French pastry goodness. I really was expecting to burn the bulk of our CS and snack credits in the WS, but it just wasn't happening.

We stick around a little bit just to take it all in. First we see Aurora brought out for M&G...

We check out some of the entertainment...

We look at stuff that reminds us of Paris...

And then Kendall wants to be up close and personal with the art...

...her justification...."mom, you know I'm an artist too!"

Just all looks so peaceful from here...

The girls also are keen to point out what we saw from the boat the other day...

And of course...

...another light!!!

Now, since we entered Epcot through the Internation Gateway what seemed like an eternity ago...we have technically come full cirlce in the World Showcase. So even if we didn't eat and drink as much as I'd hoped and didn't pop into every country, we at least made it all the way around... mission accomplished! It would also be the first time I'd ever notice how ToT in DHS really does blend in with the structures in Morocco...among other realizations.

So, now we start heading back toward Future World, and we're greeted with an Epcot that's WAY more crowded than it was in the morning...

And yes...

...another light!

It's about this time that I'm sooooooo cold that I just can't take it anymore...so I pop into a store and I go in search of a sweatshirt. I felt bad for taking so long, but if I'm going to spend the $ on park merch, I at least want to like it. I was hoping for a sweatshirt with some kind of vintage Donald on it, but no dice. So, I settled for the heavy navy blue hoodie with the "Original Angry Bird" Donald graphic. I guess at least I got the discount with my Disney Visa.

So, it was nearly time for dinner...

...but it wasn't quite time yet, and one of our faves now had no line, so we rode...

We left our boat and headed upstairs to check in for dinner...

Now we have done nearly every character meal, but Garden Grill never seemed to fit into our schedule until this trip. (I think 1900PF dinner is really the only thing we have left to try) So, needless to say we were excited + this was our one Mickey meal of the trip. Yeah...we had Tusker planned for the last day, but I asked Sammie about it and while she didn't fully remember our first experience with breakfast there, she said she wanted me to cancel it. My wallet thanked her, but that made this all the more special since outside of M&G opportunities, this was it for us and Mickey this trip.

I got pretty nervous checking in because there were people waiting EVERYWHERE! There were also people trying for walk ups who were getting very upset when they were turned away. So, I checked in and also put in a request to be seated on the lower level. I knew it could increase our wait time, but so many people have said it's worth it. So, I joined the family on the floor with our buzzer in hand and snapped pics as we waited.

At least several cast members came by with stickers for the girls while we waited. It at least helped break up the marathon session of Eye/I Spy we had going. The reality...when you consider that we'd arrived a little early and I put a special request for the table...the wait really wasn't too bad. And as soon as we were seated, we got a visit from our favorite Disney puppy...

And he's a silly puppy!

Shortly after Pluto came by, we met our server...he explained the meal...we met the chef...and we got some plates in Mickey form...

Now I'm going to warn you...I love Living with the Land...so being able to watch it go by as we dine meant lots of pictures on my camera...

Now if only this one were not in such a picky place these days...

Dale was up next. The girls have only seen Chip & Dale in parades...so I was pretty excited for them to experience their antics in more of a M&G setting. And while a bit blurry, Dale is also my fave of the two, so I got some brownie points for expressing my preferences...

It was at this time that I reminded the girls of how you differentiate Chip from Dale. The girls were quick to tell him just how much they loved his red nose...and thankfully, there were no jokes about Rudolph.

And while Kendall is getting big hugs, I think that's Sammie checking out his little chipmunk tail.

She didn't grab it, but she was just hanging out down there going "I love your tail!"
Yeah- she got some tickles for that...

...as well as big hugs.

So, we have a break and I go back to photographing the portions of the ride we can see...

...and naturally, I also got in a shot of the lights.

Up next is the Big Cheese himself!

Now, I'd heard from many that the character interaction at Garden Grill was probably some of the very best in character dining at Disney, but by this point- I'm like WOW! At any other meal, Mickey would have been gone by now, but here he is...still taking pics and interacting with the girls...

He even decided to help the girls with their word searches...

And finally, it was time for Chip...

Chip just LOVED Sammie's blue nails from BBB...

At least Sammie had finally come to terms with the fact that her nails were dry and had been for well over a day. It's hard to tell, but she'd spent the last day trying to take care to protect her blue manicure.

So, finally it's time for some food (really, it wasn't a long wait- we just got characters at our table very quickly)...

The rolls and maple butter were YUMMY!!! And even the girls loved the salad...well, until they got distracted by the bison out the "window."

I just had the hardest time with the lighting in this place. Sheesh!
