If the Yeti deserves one of these, then Imagination deserves it even moreso:

They do. But would you really take a park seriously that's only been open for one and a half seasons, and doesn't look likely to reopen any time soon?

NIWS was in third place as the best dark ride in 2008 (after Toy Story and Simpson's ride, both were much more expensive). NIWS was a bit bare when I saw it but I understand that the Sally Corporation "Plussed" the ride until Hard Rock Park went bankrupt. By the way, the band donated a mellotron and several guitars to the project, if an interested local musician had not bought them they might have ended up in a landfill. I think all of the artwork ended up in there too (did that happen with Imaginattion's artwork?).

I would think if Disney was noticing other rides were getting accolades that they might do something about Imagination even if the other rides were only 1/3 as good as the original JII.

Oh, in case you want to know: Nights In White Satin was replaced with the Monstars of Rock which unfortunately, is cardboard cutout garbage. Some say it would be better if the building were just shut down. If you look at You tube of videos of the ride they tell the story. It's almost as if this was a mini-JII discussion.

Now with Harry Potter coming on June 18 what will Disney do about Imagination?

Figment was totally different in the original. When they brought him back someone had the genius idea to make him a brat.

The dragon lost his home and father to some limey git who wants to keep creativity confined. If that's not a justification to troll, I don't know what is.

As much as I've railed against the many changes made since the EPCOT Center days, I've got to admit that most of them were made in an honest effort to give people what they want.

Except Imagination, that is. The sole motivation behind the gutting of that pavilion was to make it cheaper to operate. They didn't even pay lip service to customer experience on this one; the whole pavilion reeks of the arrogant assumption that Disney customers are stupid animals that will eagerly lap up whatever table scraps the executives see fit to toss their way. I'm sure the Imagineers that built the current incarnation of the ride from scraps of the execrable 1999 version did the very best they could, but the whole thing still plays like a ride past a bunch of stuff Disney couldn't sell at a garage sale. And have you seen the place lately? Judging from the dull, dirty look of the pyramids you'd think that the ability to clean glass is an ancient art that's been lost to history.

People are always talking about how the World Showcase needs a new country or how Universe of Energy needs to become something more than a monument to '90s pop culture, but in my opinion the most important, number one priority for EPCOT should be revitalizing the Imagination pavilion. I know that proposals exist; Disney just needs to implement one of them. Hopefully a Dr. Nigel Channing-free one.

Or else I will stomp my feet and say bad words. :)

Awesome post. Pretty much sums up my attitude when i get miffed about what happened.

Rock on, Dude

YES! Nice to see this brought up..as a lot of folks seeme to forget that the 'Figment' of today is NOT the 'REAL Figment' character us die hard enthusiests of the original attraction/concept miss dearly.

Think of today's Figment as the bratty younger 'brother' of the Original.

True, he used to be a wide eyed kid that was so excited about the limitless potential of the imagination. If I could send one message to my children when visiting WDW, that would be the one. That is the one message that resonates today in me as well. It sickens me that someboy gave the okay for this message to be eliminated.

It's the same Figment, but he's motivated by prankster style vengeance in response the the Institute's encroachment on his home, the suppression of creative thought and the banishment of Dreamfinder. It's how I've always seen it.
When the Imagineers are finally able to give us what we want, Figment's eight plus years of trolling will finally be done and they'll write him back into the character he was in the old days.

I like the shirt idea and I also talked to a worker who said I should start a petition but I think that has probably happened millions of times right? What could we do to convince them to change the ride back or make it as good or better than the old days. Of course I mean take some time and do the work online. I dont think running around with picket signs would be necessary but it would be funny seeing that happen in epcot over a ride LOL.

Third place in what?

Really?

OFF WITH YOUR HEAD! :fork:

Yay!!!!

And as for the crabby remark, I'm only crabby when unintelligent remarks are made. Do some research before you go spouting off about rides in their current form.

And yes, I'm a Disney Oracle.

Welcome to 8 years ago. We're all still mourning for one of our favorite attractions, RIP Dreamfinder.
I agree....still do not understand why they abandoned the Dreamfinder/Figment concept. I used to love the beginning of the ride with Dreamfinder AA on the machine.....pretty lame ride/pavillion now.
