I'm Over It

Two prison inmates are due to be executed. The warden asks them if they have any last requests. The first inmate says "I'd like to hear that song Let it Go one more time before I die." The Warden ask the 2nd guy if he has a last request and he replies "Yea....kill me first!"

I know it's beating a dead horse here, but I am so tired of Frozen. It was a good movie. Not a great movie, IMHO. I'm still not sure why it got as much attention as it did - the music maybe?? Whatever the reason, I am done with it taking over everything. It took over HS, which was a terrible idea because in no way, shape, or form does the theme of Frozen even kind of fit the theme of HS (well, to the extent HS still has a theme; but that's an entirely different rant for an entirely different day). It's taking over Norway, which absolutely drives me crazy. I am okay with princesses in the countries because it does add something for the kids to the WS, sure. But, to overhaul the Norway ride with Frozen? Really?!? The M&G completely ruined park opening for MK, and now the Christmas show at MK is going down the toilet. Beyond just the parks, it's all over the stores with the Halloween costumes and blankets and crap, and all of those annoying YouTube videos of people singing the songs which filled up my Facebook feed for months; and now it took over my show Once Upon a Time --is there no escaping it?!?!?!
I was at the Texas State Fair today, and every year, they have this building set up for companies who want to sell their products. And every year, Mattress Firm has a giant section set up in this building to showcase their many mattresses they have for sale. My wife and I came by to check out a few, as we're in the market for a new one, and as we sat down on one to test out it's firmness, I looked over to see about a half dozen kids gathered around a TV I had just walked by (if it had been a snake, it would have bit me), mesmerized. I'll give you one guess as to what movie they were watching. I just shook my head, thought of this thread, and laughed to myself. And then, another little girl comes by (I'm guessing around 7-8 years old?) to get her little sister, and sees what movie they're watching, and says "Oh my gosh, I'm SO SICK OF THIS MOVIE. C'mon, let's go." Looks like some of the kids are even getting sick of it. ;)

Really .. I did not know that. Thanks for pointing that to me.... darn fingers didn't type CNN..oh my.

No kidding.... the point of the post is to show that out of all the troubles in the world, the OP wants to complain about too much Frozen and because of that it is ruining her time at Disney. I call BS.

I'm done trying to explain myself. It is time to bow out of the conversation since it will only end up in a flame war. Now that won't be Magical will it. I've already wasted way too much time on this topic. (my fault for be sucked into such a useless discussion)

As others have said, while some may be sick of all of the Frozen hype, it is still extremely popular and Disney is going to milk it for as long as they possibly can. I agree with what others have said about that it's a shame other Disney movies, such as Tangled and Wreck-It Ralph haven't gotten this much attention. Frankly, I'm glad that they are giving Frozen this much attention even though I'd prefer that the Frozen attraction be in MK. It means there is something new around.

Also, as others have said, it is possible to avoid it. When I was there in August, the only park where is was blatant was DHS, and now that most of the Frozen fun is over, you can avoid it. You don't have to see the Frozen sing along. You don't have to go to Wandering Oakens. You don't have to see the Castle show (though frankly, having Elsa do the ice makes a lot of sense; I commented on this when I saw the castle iced up in January for the first time). You don't have to see Anna and Elsa at the meet and greet. And you don't have to go to the Frozen Norway pavilion. Besides, just because you are sick of it and personally no longer enjoy it doesn't mean that there aren't a lot of people who still do. So avoid it if you must. Or put aside your feelings and try to enjoy yourself. It's up to you.

Let It Go

To be honest though, Disney has done this for every blockbuster movie. Did you ever go to WDW when there was no fastpass and you had to wait in lines? You should have seen the place for The Lion King. 6 hour waits and TLK stuff every where.

When you have a multi-$B blockbuster on your hands, you are going to exploit every opportunity possible to get every bit out of it you can. Would you rather see John Carter stuff everywhere?

The simple fact of the matter is girls, boys, and many adults love it. The good news is you have options and choices. You can either ignore it or not go if it is not your cup of tea. I guarantee that you have not seen the end of Frozen for quite some time. They are definitely in the works of writing the second movie and other shows.

think I mentioned it here or another board. few years ago, toy story 3 made over a billion world wide, & I didn't see it get this kind of response. much better movie too.

Exactly.

As anyone who has been to WDW on a regular basis for the past 30 years can tell you, they have never shoved anything done our throats like they have with Frozen. It's absurd. Now I get making all you can from something that is popular, but as I've said before, there does come a time when it begins to become tacky and reeking of desperation. That's where Disney has gone with Frozen.

I know some think the castle idea for Christmas makes "perfect sense". I think it's a travesty. It's Cinderella Castle. It is THE icon of WDW. And to just change the entire story behind it because of the popularity of this movie is insulting and very short-sighted.

You kind of started the useless discussion, now didn't you? Kind of silly to complain about it.

Great exit, btw. You sure showed us.......

Then you must suffer from short-term memory loss as the same things were done with Stitch 10 years ago.

Is Olaf a part of the monorail spiel?

Stitch was limited to the MK and DTD. And that was Disney trying to promote a new attraction, albeit a crappy replacement for a better one.

The only place Frozen isn't making it's presence known yet is Animal Kingdom. And with the well known Yeti problems, I would bet money TDO has been sitting around a table wondering how to incorporate Olaf into Everest.

It does kind of make sense. Before the fairy godmother was freezing it. Now Elsa is. My bff, who I took with me to WDW in January and who actually saw Frozen with me (and does not love it like I do, though she enjoyed it) commented that it looked like something Elsa had done. It doesn't mean that it's going to be that way forever. The movie's just extremely popular right now. In five years it may be back to the way it was. Or it might not. But to say that it's shortsighted because they're choosing to do it for a few years is a little silly.

I've only been going for about 20 years, but just a thought...they haven't had something nearly as popular as Frozen for...about the past 20 years since Toy Story came out.

Now I get making all you can from something that is popular, but as I've said before, there does come a time when it begins to become tacky and reeking of desperation. That's where Disney has gone with Frozen.

Personally, I love Frozen and randomly start singing the songs just about every day, so it was a real treat for me to see all the stuff in DHS in August. Now the whole Frozen Fun thingthat was sort of shoving it down because at night because there was little way of escaping it (you got Olafs cut outs at the gate, the park maps were Frozen, and during the fireworks, the music played throughout the parks). But now that's over

As I've said before, you don't have to see the caste show. You don't have to go to the meet and greet. You don't have to do any of it. It's all about the attitude. If you don't want to do it, fine, but there are those of us who still love the movie, are not tired of it, and really enjoy the stuff. There are probably those who aren't as frequent guests and who are going and expect that they'll see some Frozen stuff. While I agree that Frozen should go in MK, not Norway, no one is twisting your arm to do all of the Frozen stuff. Either do it...or don't.

In general I don't care much either way about all the "Frozen" additions to the park, but I completely agree with you on Maelstrom. Frozen has nothing to do with Norway and doesn't belong in the Norway Pavilion. If WDW added a Frozen dark ride to MK, I would be fine with it (perhaps even in favor of it), but the conversion of Maelstrom detracts from an EPCOT that is already seriously lacking attractions which are in step with EPCOT's theme.
