IllumiNations recent rumor

When they replace Illuminations I hope they don't go down the road of stitching together some music and animations from Disney movies without really having a purpose or a coherent story. Look at World of Color as an example of taking an amazing piece of show tech that only exists in one spot on the planet and making at best a so so show. Put together some clips from movies, blend in some upbeat but dead common music, throw in a b-list actor to narrate, put in some travel pics and snaps from family vacations, and pretend you've got a great show. The normal World of Color show is better, but still doesn't have a story other than "Disney makes good movies", brilliant to watch the first couple of times but then a snooze.

Anything more than the current fountain that's going to cause guests to stop and watch would be a no no.

Well, do it during IllumiNations as a supplement. An added detail. I think most people would be over by WS Lagoon anyway, right?

I just can't see how they could replace I:ROE. I got to believe that this will be more of an evolutionary change that brings in World of Color elements.

It begs the question 'Why replace such a popular show?"

I would much rather see Illuminations run for 50 years with incremental improvements to the elements of the show than have it replaced with something inferior.
I wouldn't mind something new, but if the score isn't as good as or better than the score is now I'll be furious.. ;)

That is my opinion as well. What they have is incredible and popular to boot. Replacing it just to replace it and taking a step back would be a huge mistake. Now if they can do better, I am all for it.

The point is to have crowds be split equally in the park like the new show at Disneyland, Disneyland forever. The show would be 360 around the lagoon while certain places in the park like space ship earth and possibly some other attractions will have projections on them and other special effects.

The point there is these are separate, different shows. Not the same show seen by everyone. Epcots lagoon is large enough not to need to split a show.

Anyway, conjecture. SkyDance was the closest to multiple, unique and location based effects and that was axed.
