Or is this Iger acting like a 3 year old and having a tantrum for not getting his way?

That's what I was wondering. Are we supposed to admire Iger now? I thought he was some millionaire Hollywood mogul who's main objective was to cynically milk the Disney Parks business for every dime possible while destroying them with IP crammed into every available nook and cranny.

Chalk it up to even a broken clock being right twice a day. What’s more concerning to me is Iger’s apparent lack of successful negotiation skills. This move is literally a last ditch effort to remove himself from this effort but clearly this guidance was going poorly from the get-go.

It all strikes me as too little too late. And it feels like Iger may have been prioritizing his own personal/political career and stature as a titan of industry. Enjoying milking this honorary empty chair position of its shallow glory until he couldn’t cling to it any longer.

Even if I side with Iger here the extra months of “soft power” capitulation in exchange for personal recognition while leaving D’Amaro to deliver messages from the sideline probably hurt the company in the long run.

They should definitely still be receiving benefits from their states, if they’re not they’re just not doing it right. I was specifically talking about you tho not CMs
Many are down to the 12 weeks of PUA insurance, that means after 3 months, they will be getting.......absolutely NOTHING.

Sounds like Iger is the conflicted one. Obviously never learned to play nice with the other kids at school.

A whole host of high-powered execs quit the task force because of the Charlottesville controversy.

Here was Iger's reason...

But, yeah, blame all those CEOs who can't get along with others.

It is not about scruples, or anything other than $$$$$$$! If Iger can not close a deal within, what he sees as a reasonable period of time, he moves on. All the rest is window dressing, show and smoke.

I always found it impressive how Iger had one set of principles for the US and an entirely separate set of principles for China.

SD is a 5B$$$$ + embarrassment on many levels. Money that could have been better invested in the U.S. International travelers want to come to the visit U.S. and visit Disney I have yet to hear anyone say they want to travel to the PRC to visit Disney.

I always found it impressive how after every criticism of Iger is debunked on this forum, someone latches onto something else to charge him with.

Especially with vague claims that sound sinister but are no different than the whole of the U.S. business and governmental relation with China.

If you want businesses to stop supporting China, you can ask our governmental leaders to ban such activity altogether.

Or, you can continue to pick whichever business you don't like for whatever reason -- Disney, Apple, etc... -- that has business relations with China, and single them out as complicit in Chinese atrocities.

I think Iger's record speaks for itself. He's a hypocrite, but who isn't these days?

So the whole point of the Task Force was to provide input about reopening California's economy. Now that most industries have reopening guidelines or will have soon. There isn't anything left for the Task Force to provide input on. So its not surprising that Iger left as the final industry (one I might add that he has a direct stake in) is on the verge of getting their guidelines (albeit delayed just a bit more).

So while it makes great headlines, I wouldn't read all that much into it. If fact I wouldn't be at all surprised if the whole Task Force is disbanded here shortly.

Actually there's another program which provides up to 20 additional weeks of benefits once the 13 week federal extension is exhausted.

Umm, no, that 20 week extension has already been used, EDD automatically added that to the unemployment.

But let's assume you are right, most CMs are getting around $250 a week in unemployment without the extra $300 (which has now ended in California unless they get an extension and more funding for it). This means they would need to live off of $1,000 per month before taxes for rent, food, car payments, clothing, etc.

Oh, and if the theme parks are closed much longer all of them will be laid off and then they have to come up with $1,000 per month for health insurance or get fined for not having it. They won't qualify for assistance with health insurance, because the extra $300 to $600 and unemployment count as income towards determining eligibility. So that leaves them with $0 per month to live off of.

Not going to work well. It is time to reopen.

I wonder if some of Iger's rationale for leaving was that if I can't get my parks open and I have to lay off 28,000 of my cast members, should I really be on this board? Said another way, I'm doing a poor job of helping out my company and CMs so it would look really bad if I stayed on the board.
