Well, good for Mr. Iger for finding his backbone, if not also two other key components of his male anatomy.

It's now obvious the "dynamic conversation" that Governor Newsom alleged was happening has not been happening at all.

This should make tomorrow's release of The Guidance by Governor Newsom even more interesting. I can only imagine how mad Gav-gav is at being embarrassed like this so publicly the last few days. And it only makes The Guidance more enlightening when it is finally released.

From the article, the key statements...

Walt Disney Co. chairman Bob Iger has quit Gov. Gavin Newsom’s economic recovery task force, a Disney spokesperson confirmed Thursday evening.

The spokesperson would not say why or precisely when Iger left the task force, but the news comes as the Newsom administration is preparing to release guidance on theme park reopening that the industry is criticizing.

In a Thursday afternoon statement, the California Attractions and Parks Association urged the governor not to finalize a draft of the reopening guidance that the association saw earlier that day.

“While we are aligned on many of the protocols and health and safety requirements, there are many others that need to be modified if they are to lead to a responsible and reasonable amusement park reopening plan,” the association wrote. “We ask the Governor not to finalize guidance for amusement parks before engaging the industry in a more earnest manner, listening to park operators’ expertise, and collaborating with the industry on a plan that will allow for amusement parks to reopen responsibly while still keeping the health and safety of park employees and guests a top priority.”

Still looking forward to my weekly, "Well it is 4pm and the Sacramento Offices..." post tomorrow promptly at 4 pm because I don't believe any guidelines will be issued at all.

Well, they might not be, IF Newsom listens and actually has dialog with the theme parks. My guess is he won't and he will release really bad guidelines, my only question is how much time will be left in the press conference before the lawsuits are filed? Newsom has really left the theme parks no choice and I am shocked they haven't already sued him.

What I want to know is which of you were friends with Mickey when he stepped an Newsom's foot as a kid? Really, what did theme parks do to tick him off? They typically support the Democrats on everything and they would bring in tons of tax revenue.

He is not going to release any guidelines this month.

I'm at a loss myself. Today was a complete mess for California's theme parks and the Governor. Who knows what happens tomorrow?

Something tells me Newsom doesn't like being put on the spot and embarrassed like this and he's going to release The Guidance by lunchtime tomorrow just to spite those uppity amusement park people.

Yes, but lawsuits will be filed by the end of his first sentence if he does and possibly even a filing for an emergency injunction against his entire state of emergency. Can you imagine everything in the state being able to fully reopen with no restrictions or social distancing by tomorrow afternoon? That is the path Newsom is on if he releases theme park guidelines and they aren't fair and equitable.

I think there will be no guidelines issued at all now. I don't think he planned to release any guidelines but had something drafted up a while ago, but it leaked (which despite my initial skepticism last night appears to be true in some form) and now the theme park industry is having a fit about it. so if I am Newsom I would be like "Hey, you have been bugging me for some guidelines, now that there are some you have the audacity to complain about them?! well now I am not gonna release any. so there"

And the response from theme parks is we will open on our own terms then in a couple of weeks and just not sell alcohol and there will be NOTHING you can do to stop us since the cities and counties issue business licenses and the Orange county theme parks don't even have to worry about the sheriff.

No the state would fine them and shut the parks down.

As I told you before, you're wrong.

State handles seller permits, which are required to sell anything in the state.

How would they shut them down? They have no power, there is no agency that can enforce it and there is no law on the books that allows the state to fine them, that would fall on the county and city and even then it could be fought, as nothing was passed through legislation to allow it.

In this case, the only power the state has is revoking their alcohol license and that only applies if they sell alcohol, we learned that when restaurants in various parts of the state opened before they were allowed to.

I was thinking the exact same thing.

What a crazy reality show this is becoming. Quick, someone needs to make a "woman yelling at cat" meme for this!

Isn't it great? It's passing beyond the surreal into... I don't even know what phase we are in now.

But I do know that it's entertaining to watch! None of us could have ever imagined this. Ever.

At this point I assume you have me on mute though because you can't handle not being right 100% of the time.
