Iger is Ruining WDW, The Disney Company, and needs to go

I don't have an opinion of how Bob runs the company. I don't feel that anyone on this or any other discussion board has ever run a billion dollar company in 2024 with the BoD hounds and the Stock Holder hounds breathing down his neck. I know I haven't and until that one shows up and tells me how bad he is doing, I guess I will just have to accept that there is probably a lot more to the job than just WDW. Disclaimer... I am not either a fan or foe of Mr. Igor. I just know that he doesn't get paid what he is by not knowing anything or not being able to compromise of many things or taking advice from anyone with that much time on their hands, like myself, to comment on his abilities.

Jokes.....There are rumors on Disney podcasts, reliable ones, that Iger and the upper leadership want to replace Main Street USA and make it Mickey Ave as in China. I've seen that on 2 separate Podcasts within the last week. They say that leadership views Main Street USA is a "retail corridor" and the IP with Mickey is more fitting.

So we're taking random Disney podcasts at face value now? lol.

I can't help but wonder... once Iger leaves, will any of the things built under his reign be replaced? Will any of the things he did to make the parks worse be reversed? Will we eventually get Yesterland articles about Cosmic Rewind, the Beauty and the Beast singalong, etc.?

Or are we stuck with 'em forever?

And you mentioned one of the good (or at this point, merely average but surrounded by horrible ones) attractions he added as one of the things at risk of removal. History truly does repeat. I think some of them will be reversed, others will not, just like with Eisner. And yes, again like with Eisner, some of the good stuff will also get removed.

Iger's run had gone on for too long prior to his first so called retirement. He felt the need to linger in the background because he couldnt let go. Thats the modus-operandi of many top level operators who "retire but linger". They cant believe anyone else can do the job they did or dont want a replacement to change the policies or structures they put in place that might be better than theirs. They are insecure people who dont dare to let go for fear of being shown up as less capable than their replacements. They want to keep their fingers in the pie and have the need to be needed. Iger (and others) who ran Disney made their mark and should let go for the good of the company, but sadly they cant recognize when that time is or was. They are so self absorbed that harm to what and who they served no longer matters.
The board is just as much at fault for extending Igers run and failing to find suitable replacements. And especially welcoming him back as a savior from Bob C.
Well said. It's so common for people to want to hang on to power too long. Look at politics. Insane.

Quite the opposite. A lot of time and money has gone into trying to understand the issue.
Motors that move an object back and forth..... programed to move when the cannon lights up it fires.

Does not sound too crazy to me, thos coming from.an ex programmer sans 2000.

What code did they use when it worked?

I didn’t ask. But it’s the code and the fact the cannons are treated as critical show doors by the RCS that’s the issue.

No way Cosmic Rewind stays for good. I don't think Guardians as an IP has the staying power that they think it does. Arguably it's a less popular franchise now than it was when the ride was first announced. The coaster itself I think we're stuck with, but it has very rethemeable bones.

I think some things will be “fixed” but I think most will stay unchanged. For all the park negativity about Iger (mine included) most of it has been done well, he just hasn’t done enough.

Hopefully the first thing fixed is lightning lane, loss of perks, nickel and diming, etc. The policy mistakes have been far worse than the construction mistakes.

I think Guardians may get replaced with a new IP at both EP and DCA (which would be a great time to fix the ugly exteriors of both buildings), I think Galaxies edge probably gets a timeline change to get the original characters, I could even potentially see things like San Fransokyo and Pixar pier being returned to their original themes. Even things like the new EP hub are fixable, throw a fountain in the middle, fix the lights, add some color and style to the new convention center and it’s a decent addition.

Those are all fairly easy PR moves to appease fans, nothing as drastic or expensive as fixing DCA to 2.0, the AK expansion, the HS expansion, etc. He’s made some missteps but for the most part the park changes have been relatively popular, hopefully we get a new CEO before they destroy the ROA, that’s the one thing he’s proposed that a new CEO won’t be able to easily fix.

Yes. See also how things like removing Submarine Voyage got fixed when Eisner left.
