Iger and Chapek Livid With Lucasfilm

Ahmed Best got just as much crap from the media as he did from the fans what with critics labeling Jar Jar as a minstrel show character.

Only difference was the media didn't attack him for just being a person and choosing to act in the film. That's what sickens me the most about this fandom, the utter disgust that some people did to those actors. Hate the characters all you want but attacking the actor out of spite is just sick.

I am not knowledgeable about this circumstance, but others have said that her social accounts were scrubbed before the new released. In other cases where something came out, the issues were tied to media digging into the past of a director or producer. Now as regular people we have less information about who did or knew what. All we could do was the surface investigation into twitter, LinkedIn, etc.

Separate from that, Disney doesn't seem to be making a whole lot of Star Wars announcements other than randomly cancelling planned collabs that were rumored earlier. So to say that in this uncertain time they are moving forward with a new series would be very newsworthy, since there has been mostly silence while the world is worried about living and dying. Leaks are probably always frowned upon, but perhaps moreso when people are having trouble paying their rent and getting an answer from the unemployment office. It would seem like Disney is focusing on **** nobody cares about.
Yeah I saw apparently she scrubbed a lot of her tweets. I wonder what she posted that made her delete them? If you are nervous your bosses might see them why would you post them in the first place?

I agree it was horrible the way he was treated. This is a very small vocal minority who were rude to him and Jake Lloyd and Kellie Marie Tran. If you hate the characters that's fine but don't hate the actors, it's just stupid. They didn't write or create the characters.

The illegitimate “hate” spewed for alleged racist/sexist reasons actually provided a smokescreen/cover for making bad creative decisions...
Unneeded “noise in the room”

It didn’t help those that were being legitimately critical but want good Star Wars. Like the guy in my mirror.

They’re more like a gang of schoolyard bullies than a hate group.

Just ask Jake Lloyd, Ahmed Best and Kelly Marie Tran.

You can have that opinion, but calling people a "hate group" puts them on par with literal terrorists... and that's a deranged conflation. I also am concerned with mass labeling any group of people based on their opinions of fiction; that seems to me to be dangerous tribalism.

actually that doesn’t make any sense. She is a known Whistle blower on Weinstein. She wrote a play detailing his abuse. If they were going to block her for being a whistleblower then I agree with the leak.

I'm not familiar with her having been involved in any whistleblowing. Can you substantiate that claim? She wasn't on my radar until I started getting word of the situation. I do know that her social media was scrubbed at the time of the leaks and that her archived statements are extremely problematic. Calling entire races and genders pejorative names is not something Disney would condone.

Two things I'd say here.

1. Some people say dumb , especially when they are young, and don't assume it will hold them back for the rest of their lives.
2. Society has changed quite a bit in the past decade, and especially the last few years.

Having no knowledge of what these posts were... people used to do all kinds of you'd never get away with these days.

I saw the thing about 250 tweets being deleted. As best I can tell it's a few people linking to the same blog. It noted that she had deleted a bunch of stuff almost a year ago too. This seems to be increasingly common. It also doesn't seem like anything Iger and Chapek would be immediately aware of either - especially during the middle of a pandemic. From what I can see, there's nothing noteworthy. She was pretty rude to David Mamet, but otherwise... Look at actual news sources; there's nothing there. This seems more agenda-driven to me.
