If you had the money would you stay one YEAR?

I just calculated for my GF what it would cost to stay at the world for an entire year and it was roughly something about 120.000 $ for one year assuming you stay at the Polynesian (based on prices we have to pay at our local travel agency) with two premium annual passes and always dining at the parks and resorts without dining plan. I left out any shopping costs however. If you had the money would you do it? An entire year at the world? Of course you could change the resort after a few weeks but as the Poly is one of the most expensice resorts with the exception of the GF this doesn't change the costs for accomodation, at least not increase them.

If I had the money I would live there forever!

Very well. If you are 20 (of course I don't know, it is only just much more appropriate to assume you are younger than that you are older than you are) and assuming a present life expectancy of 85 for women (actually it will be much higher in 10 or 20 years already near 100) thats 7.030.800 bucks. :)

Nope.

Too much of a good thing is a bad thing IMO. It would be like getting a hold of a whole can of cake icing when you were a kid. At first it was all you could have dreamed for but then after a while the excitement and jubilation wears off and you get kinda tired of the awesome sweetness. At least this is the way I would feel. There are others I am sure who feel differently but I would rather keep my icing on the cake and in limited doses.

That's a good point and an understandable point of view. Actually I think I could stay for a month, even two but not an entire year by myself. It's overkill.

I mis-read the title of your post and so will answer what I thought you posted: Yes if I had a monkey I would stay for a year at WDW. He would be very helpful to me I would think.

I would not. I used to get chills walking into Fenway Park, but now I've been there so much (10-20x per year x 7 years + all the times as a child) that it doesn't have that effect anymore. I don't want to lose that with Disney World. Ever.

I really could not live there the whole year. The winter yes without a doubt but once summer comes I don't think i could do it.

My initial thought was "Hell Yes!", then I remembered that I can hardly stand the summers up here in New England and would probably die in Florida during July and August so the summer season is automatically out. After a bit more thought, I realized being there during the peak seasons would kind of be frustrating as well, so those are out. Then I'd want to be up north for most of ski season and to see the snow, so more time gets cut. Same with fall - I'd miss the leaves turning.

In the end I'd say 7 or 8 one week trips would probably be my max. I could get down for the least busy times and see all the holiday decorations and special events and stay at a different resort each time to mix it up.

Of course I'd be happy to be right back and do the same the following year!

I refer you to my signature. "Real Life" is far too important to waste on full-time recreation. I realize that there are people in this world who live the life of a socialite and spend a great deal of time doing few things of significance, but I am of the opinion that life is given a greater value and sense of meaning when we devote ourselves to a daily purpose that helps us to rise above a self-centered existence. Disney World provides an absolutely great sense of escapism, but too much escapism can lead to a loss of personal identity and worthiness (said the man who belongs to a fan forum :)).

My gut answer is "Yer damn skippy I would!". However after a few seconds of retrospection I realize that not altogether true.

So my answer is in fact No. Now I have stayed for multiple weeks and loved it. And I'm sure the family and I could stay for a couple of months and still be entralled...but a year? Yeah too much of a good thing would begin to wear on even the biggest WDW fans.

No. It would get old and unmagical. I could spend a whole year traveling, maybe a year spent visting all Disney Parks and other desitnations in between... but staying put at one resort (even if you do hotel hop...) no.

No I would not stay there for a year. I feel this would lose the Disney Magic for me. I love and enjoy Disney very much. It's like christmas it's comes once a year and I just love the the christmas season. If I had to live it 365 then it would eventually get borring.

You're not accounting for the rise in room prices.

And, it would be much easier (and cheaper) to buy a couple DVCs with enough points to stay there every night - if your plan was to stay for the rest of your life.

Even cheaper than that, of course, is just to buy a place in Celebration.

The chills were because you thought it might collapse on you at any time.

An entire year would be far too much. I would like to stay more than my usual 7 days however.

If I had that amount of money for recreation I would like to do the 10 park tour, perhaps with a cruise thrown in.

Although you are right about the rise in room prices (I didn't want to spend too much time on a completely hypothetical estimation) I don't think that living in Celebration is the same like staying at a WDW-resort! No theming, no escapism and no service. A DVC-resort is a better idea however I know not enough about DVC to make a calculation based on DVC fares.

No that was walking to the old Yankee Stadium! :) At the new stadium I would get chills thinking that for the cost of taking my family to see a game I could go to Disney World. :(

Off topic but seriously;

I live in metro Boston, and have been to Fenway many times. I saw Ted Williams when he still playing the first time I went. I know what you mean by getting chills, going into the old Boston garden was the same way. There are very few parks anymore that have that effect. Lambeau Field, and Wrigley Field are the only ones that come to mind.
