If there was ever to be a 5th gate, what would it be?

I've always wondered why it's refered to as the "fifth gate". It makes it sound like the title of an astronaut movie or twilight zone episode or something.

I think Disney could do well with a park themed on historical civilizations. They could build the park around ancient worlds like ancient Egypt, Atlantis, the Aztec Empire, a Medieval land, ancient China, Greece, Rome, etc. There is a ton of material to work with, and there's plenty of opportunity for thrill rides, dark rides, learning experiences, and fully immersive entertainment. If you've ever been to a really good Renaissance festival or living museum like Plymouth Plantation, you know where I'm coming from.

I love to see a heroes vs villians park. But would rather see impovements made to the current parks before a 5th gate.

Great idea. Some of my favorite attractions are the ones that take you through history (SSE, AA). It would be cool to walk through all of the above-mentioned places, and the ride ideas would be endless.

Inspired from the other thread. I'm not saying they should do this right now because there are other things that can be improved for sure. But if they did what would it be?

I've always mentioned that if they do another park it could be a Disney-themed thrill park. With lots of dark rides that are thrilling and extreme rollercoasters. But still trying to keep the theming great, if that's possible. Like say have an extreme roller coaster and call it "Simba" or stuff like that. Along those lines. You could do it with a ton of characters.

Anyways, just a crazy thought, probably would never happen and maybe it does seem a little un-Disney to do a thrill park. It would be hard to capture the "magic" in there I guess, but not if the dark rides are done properly

I always liked the idea of "Classic Magic Park" :)

I remember a few months ago someone posted a post that said a theme park that had all the major classic disney attractions.

Past World: Horizons, the land pavilion: symbiosis, food rocks, kitchen kabaret. The Wonders of Life Pavilion. Universe of Energy. World of Motion and communicore...

Classic Magic Kingdom: The Enchanted Tiki Room, Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, Take Flight, Extra Terrorestrial Alien Encounter.

Forgotten World: Countdown to Extinction, Ariel's Grotto, and The Living seas pavilion.

i would LOVE this theme park! :D:):lookaroun:cry:

Musical artists put out "Greatest Hits" albums every so often - why not a Greatest Hits Park? An entire park with clones of the headliner attractions from the other parks. It would be the most visited park in the world in no time! Sure, it would cannibalize attendance from the other parks. And yes, it wouldn't be offering anything new. But what a fantastic way to leverage synergies and efficiencies and demonstrate cost leadership!

But wouldn't the whole point of a 5th gate to be something new?
Maybe if the park would be somewhere else but Florida. But I still like Heroes vs. Villains/ marvel park.

I agree that they need to make some improvements and add on to many of the parks, but I wouldn't mind seeing a fifth open sometime in the next 10 or 15 years. It would be nice to spread out attendance even further. Just hopefully, when/if they open the fifth park, they don't skimp on attractions/lands like they did with the openings of MGM, AK, and California Adventure.

I can find extreme rollercoasters at a Six Flags Park. I would rather a 5th gate with dark rides that are thrilling but still contain great theming and immersiveness.

Indeed. The Mummy at Universal is an excellent example of the way to go. It's the best attraction in that park because it combines different ride styles to make something better than the sum of its parts.

That would really be something else. Hey at least the ones on here that complain about Mr. Toad being gone (yeah me too) would be able to see it again. I'm just not sure if that could fill the whole park though. I'd like to see Pinocchio, Bambi, Cinderella, stuff like that turned into a ride though. They have Pinocchio at DL as it is. Ah who knows, I guess I figure that since 1971 when the parks opened there has never been anything more than an 11 year span where a new gate didn't open, until now, since its been 12 years. We'd have heard about it if they were starting a new one by now. For now maybe open a 3rd water park and give some TLC to the other parks

Whatever is done should emphasize theme over thrill as has worked well to date. One thing that is lacking would be a wooden coaster with high capacity.

Modernizing some traditional amusements with Disney capacity would be very cool.

Lots of Disney classics including an updated 20K could serve as theme material

I hope there is never a 5th gate in WDW because there is no reason or need for one imo. I would much rater see DL get a 3rd gate.

I think a 5th gate could be really beneficial, it gets pretty crowded in all 4 parks as it is, so a fifth could help. Is there even enough room for a 3rd DL park?

They can't keep up with the 4 and 2 water parks they have now. Every park has a lot of room for expansion, until they are expanded to their limit I see no reason to build a 5th gate.

Where's is there room for a 3rd gate in DL? And a 5th gate would be great. Sure they have problems with the 4 they have but what theme parks don't have problems?

There's absolutely no reason for a 5th gate. Anything new can be easily integrated into the theming of the 4 parks we have already. Disney villains? Add an extension to the Magic Kingdom. A "thrill park"? Just add thrill rides where appropriate to the existing parks (not to mention that a park for only teenagers and people with good hearts and backs goes against everything Disney parks should stand for)

There's no theme I can think of that couldn't find a home already. We already have some overlap with Adventureland/Animal Kingdom and Tomorrowland/Epcot-FutureWorld. Any new "modern" properties or movies (like Marvel comics) can easily fit into DHS.

Plus, it would just add travel time and more stress about "seeing it all" on every trip. 4 parks is almost too much where I feel like I spend too much time at one, I'm missing out on something at one of the others.
