I wouldn't. I would still stick to the All-Star resorts. They're comfy, great atmosphere, and it's not like i'm going to spend a great deal of my time in the hotel rooms. :animwink: Plus, if I could afford to go to the more expensive places, then that I could afford to stay in the cheaper places longer. :D

Ditto--we stay at All Star Sports to sleep, shower and change. When we are awak and if the parks are open, that's where we are.

We usually stay at a moderate (Port Orleans Riverside) but this trip stayed at Wilderness Lodge. I have to say, we are hooked. Having a nice place to eat and a nice place to stroll around can be really nice (both POR and WL have them). Location as well plays a huge part in it.

We did stay at All Star Sports once and hated it. Not because the room was small but because it was loud for one. But another was it felt like the whole place was made of concrete. There were no nicely groomed lawns and trees. Just cement as far as the eye could see.

I would rather stay a little less time and enjoy my time than stay longer and be dissapointment. That is not to say that needs to be important to everyone but just replying because you asked.

We had always stayed at Moderates, namely Caribbean Beach, but when we stayed for ourfirst time ay Yacht Club, we became instantly hooked and will always try to stay at an Epcot Resort deluxe property. We do not go to the theme parks every single day all day, so we can enjoy all the amenities of a Resort.

My sister and I stayed at Pop this past May, and though it was nice, I would try to not stay there again. We were bored b/c it did not have the extra things to do. And the pools only had shallow ends.

Even though we're Old Key West people, the best time I ever had was the time we stayed at the Polynesian. It is truly an amazing place to stay, with a great pool, great restaurants, a great view, and nice people. It's worth the extra money.
Plus there's nothing like taking the monorail to the Magic Kingdom-it's a lot better than taking a bus.

Depends on why we're going...

If we go over for a quick weekend jaunt, like as not we'll just stay at Pop Century-- we don't really expect to spend much time in the room and are (generally) just going to have a good time.

On the other hand, if we're going for an occasion or for an extended stay (say more than a couple of nights), we're much more likely to stay at the Yacht Club, AKL, or Wilderness lodge. When we go out to Disneyland we always stay at the Grand Californian, even though many places are almost as close but a whole lot cheaper.

We are a couple without kids so of course we have more money to splurge on ourselves. We have never stayed at the All-Star resorts but I hear they are nice and to stay "on property" I would do it in a heartbeat.

But I will tell you the only "More expensive" resort we have not stayed in is GF. (Feels to stuffy for us) but I will tell you if you have the chance to stay at AKL, WL, Poly, and Beach Club go for it.

You cant beat the atmosphere, the pools, the restaurants and the proximity to the parks,(i.e Poly for MK or Beach Club for Epcot).

We are now DVC Members so we usually we go for OKW (less points). But if you go to WDW on average of 1-2 times per year, you want to do things like "hang at the hotel" and take in all the details of each resort that you dont have time to do when you are trying to hit all the parks in a short stay.

Gosh I hope I dont sound stuck up:o But we are just blessed to have the ability to have stayed at most of the resorts.

Even 10-12 years ago when we couldnt afford it and there were no ALL-Star resorts, we would go resort hopping at least one day on each trip, the resorts are just another reason why we love WDW:D :sohappy:

i would love to stay at the grand floridian -its just gorge!!
i would stay at the all stars instead of the grand floridian and use the money that would pay for the GF to stay longer at disney. but next year im gonna go for longer and stay in a value and the GF :sohappy: over xmas and new year -all i need to do is find a job that will get me there.

everytime i have gone and stayed at a disney resort its always been a value, not that thats bad i like the all star resorts, coz that way i always stay longer and the room is only used as a base for sleeping and showering other than that im out in the parks till late or DTD.

i did visit all the disney resorts on my last visit and they are all gorge!!!

I don't think I'd ever stay in the Value resorts. Too many families with small *cough loud cough* kids for my personal preference. I don't stay over often since I live an hour and a half away, but we tend to only stay at the Wilderness Lodge when we do. It might be different if we had to travel out of state, but...I don't know. I'm big on the hotel being nice and exactly what I want. I think I'd still splurge for a deluxe or at least high-end moderate resort. The Value ones have their purpose to be sure, but they're just not even remotely interesting to me.

I can afford to stay at the top end hotels, but I always stay at Port Orleans French Quarter now. I did stay at Wilderness Lodge and loved it - but in all honesty, I like the boat to Downtown Disney more - and I like the spread out and quiet feel of FQ. I do agree that I much prefer the resorts that do not cater to families with loud children, or particularly loud teens - hence I like FQ. The convenience of the premier resorts though can not be beat as far as getting to/from the parks. Personally, I don't want to be that close to the parks and again, FQ fits that purpose.

Sometimes the high end hotels are attractions on their own. I've known people who skipped a day from the parks and decided to tour The Grand Floridian all day instead. And The whole of Animal Kingdom Lodge is both a safari and a museum, it's really something to wake up and see a Giraffe grazing just outside your window. I think that if you can afford it, then by all means do it, you'll definately get your money's worth.

If you truly want to get the best of the "world", I suggest you not stick to just one resort every visit and experience as many as you can afford.

I'm fortunate that I can afford a deluxe this trip. Going longer by staying at a value isn't an option, there's only so long I can take my DS10 out of school. This will be my first deluxe, how nice it is and how much time we actually spend there as opposed to in the parks will be the deciding aspect of whether we do it again.

First few trips we stayed at All Stars and they were fine. When we stayed at POFQ, we really liked the hot tub and the room was nicer. AKL will probably knock our socks off and we'll be stuck  with deluxe from here on...

Honestly all the resorts have their certain level of charm. I have stayed in the values, moderates and deluxe resorts and enjoyed every one.

Well I'm living out my Disney travels these days with the motto: "How can you know which resort is your favorite until you've tried them all?" That being said if money were no object I would go Deluxe all the way and never look back. I like the location of the hotels (esp. Beach Club) and the fact that they have Queen size beds instead of full. And I guess if I was in a financial position to stay at the Deluxes all the time I might be more able to splurge on room service too, and valet parking. :)

It's all about personal preference. I am fortunate enough to be able to afford the deluxe Disney Resorts and do so proudly. I just love the atmosphere and the pluses of staying at one ~ better food, better rooms, better recreation choices, better pools, better transportation choices, etc. However, I am not the type that just "sleeps and showers" at the hotel. I like to get full use of it so it's not just a hotel to me ~ it's home for a short while. Unfortunately, it's going to cost more to enjoy the better amenities ~ such is life too. Plus, let's face it, in general different classes of people stay in the different resort categories. Many more families with kids stay at the value resorts than the deluxe resorts ~ many more tween groups stay at the value resorts over the deluxe ones. I even notice the level of cast member attitude is different, in general, from the value to the deluxe resorts. So, it's all about your very own personal preference in relation to budget, options and desires you're after.

My story:
On my first trip to WDW as an adult in '93, I stayed off-site. I was then the type that wouldn't pay more than $50 for a hotel room. That said, on my last day that year, I was riding back on the ferry from the MK to the TTC. The sun was setting over the Polynesian and a gentleman was sitting on his lagoon view balcony reading a newspaper. He looked totally relaxed and I thought about how wonderful that must be. Well, I made a quiet promise to myself that I too would enjoy that luxury someday. After alot of saving, by gosh, I got to a year later. It was as wonderful as I had hoped. And after a few poor off-site stays afterwards, I was hooked like a fish. I vowed to always stay at a Disney Resort. So, 13 years later (and many $ poorer) I have enjoyed staying at most of the Disney resorts ~ yes, including All-Stars. Polynesian, Wilderness Lodge and Animal Kingdom Lodge are my favorites.

That's the great thing about Disney resorts, they offer something for everyone!

I would like to stay at one of the deluxes, but that would seriously cut into my travel budget for the rest of the year so I am happy with the All Star.
