If ou could afford the more expensive resorts, would you use them?

I would definetly stay at the deluxe resorts. That is another element to the Disney trip is walking through the resorts and admiring all of the little details that are in each resort.

Let me tell you the truth. We used to stay only at the value resorts back when we were in the mindset that you only sleep there and shower there.

I can honestly say after staying at the Wilderness Lodge, Beach Club, Broadwalk Inn, and Animal Kingdom Lodge it is never the same. Our trips always seem too be so much better when we stay there.

Now I must say when my friend and i flew down to visit our friend who works at WDW we stayed for 2 weeks at the Pop Century, and it was nice for 3 guys, but it was nothing compared to our trip to the Animal Kingdom Lodge for less time the year before.

Deluxe resorts offer larger, more comfertable rooms with great pools, great restaurants, and everything right there, no need to walk outside in a hurricane to refill your mug (unless your at Poly or BoardWalk)

If you get the chance, TAKE IT! haha

If I had a choice, as we usually do, I would choose a value or moderate over a deluxe, and be able to stay a tad bit longer.
We did stay at Beach club before, as well as C.B, POFQ, AS sports, and Pop. I must say, the value resorts show more "life" and are laid back 100X more than mods or deluxes.

We've been fortunate enough (thanks to AP and military discounts) to stay at Shades of Green, Dolphin, AK Lodge, Pop Century and POFQ the last year. The two biggest things I don't like about the value and moderate resorts are how loud they are in the AM and the lack of restaurants. My family aren't the "we've got to hit the park the second it opens" types. So, we like to sleep in and hit the parks at our leisure. But at Pop Century/POFQ you could always hear everyone that walked by your window starting around 8 AM. (We were right by a stairwell at POFQ which made it worse...) And you can only eat at a food court so many times....:snore:

We LOVED the AK Lodge. Just a great experience and probably the cheapest of the "deluxe" resorts (I think). Even if you don't get a Savannah view room, there are lots of places where you can sit and watch the animals. And I could eat at Boma every day. The soups were to die for.

But, like everyone has said, it's personal preference. If you're a hardcore "open to close" park warrior, then the value resorts should fit your needs. Place to sleep and shower. If you like a more leisurely vacation, I would recommend the deluxe resorts. And I would recommend everyone stay at the AK Lodge at least once. Just a great experience.

We usually stay at Caribbean Beach Resort, but last time we got to stay at the Poly Resort. It was amazing! From the little mickey speed boats, to seeing the castle from the hotel and the fireworks at night! Very nice!
The best part though was the monorail. VERY HANDY! It was like we were literally 5 min. at most from the MK! Great Resort!

So far I've stayed at Pop twice, All Star 4 times and Poly once. If money was no option, I'd definately try all resorts out, and I'd start at the Yacht and Beach club, based on the pool alone. I usually spend one evening walking from Epcot, around the boardwalk and to YB Club, and I am quite envious of that pool.

we are the type that like to try all the hotels, however we are partial to the deluxes. since it's only the 2 of us we are fortunate enough that we are able to afford them. most of the time though it depends on what kind of trip we are taking. if we are taking a long relaxing trip, then it's definately a deluxe, but if it's shorter and we'll mostly be at the parks then we stay in a moderate or value. like i said though, we are in the process of trying them all.

I would. But, I do know people who agree with you. They love the All Star theming.

Erika,

quoted you here just to compliment you on your avatar. As I write this, we are 9 minutes away from tonight's episode.

On to the actual question. Yes, we stay Deluxe when we can afford it. We've been in Grand Floridian, Contemporary and the Wilderness Lodge, our favorite.

But we've also stayed at Caribbean and All Star Sports and Movies and found them fine.

I can hear the clock ticking. Got to go!

I might do it once in a great blue moon, but for the most part, I would stay at a cheaper resorts like the All-Stars. You can use your money for shopping or for a longer trip.

I was disappointed in the monorail hotels (room size), although the perks easily made up for it. I prefer to stay in the suites at OKW, but my goal is to stay at EVERY true Disney resort at least once. 'True' means the 'official' Marketplace hotels and the Swan & Dolphin don't count. You can see how far I've gotten in my sig! :D

I either stay at Shades of Green or if that is booked up one of the All Star resorts. I'm just there to sleep, shower and sometimes use the pool.

Even though we spend very little time at our resort I would love to be able to some day afford to stay in a deluxe resort. It would be a dream come true to stay at one on the monorail loop. In the meantime though the values will do us just fine. With the high expense of flights from Canada it makes more sense to come for longer stays of two weeks (because we don't get to come that often) and at deluxe resort prices long stays just wouldn't be economical.

We usually stay at a moderate (Port Orleans Riverside) but this trip stayed at Wilderness Lodge. I have to say, we are hooked. Having a nice place to eat and a nice place to stroll around can be really nice (both POR and WL have them). Location as well plays a huge part in it.

We did stay at All Star Sports once and hated it. Not because the room was small but because it was loud for one. But another was it felt like the whole place was made of concrete. There were no nicely groomed lawns and trees. Just cement as far as the eye could see.

I would rather stay a little less time and enjoy my time than stay longer and be dissapointment. That is not to say that needs to be important to everyone but just replying because you asked.

We also stay at Port Orleans Riverside...and I always wanted to stay at the Wilderess Lodge!

If money wasn't an object; I would stay at the more expensive ones. For nothing else; just to try them. I've stayed at the Polynesian, Swan, and Contemporary, and would love to stay at the remaining deluxe resorts just to experience them.

I would probably stay at either Wilderness Lodge or Poly, just once, for the experience.
But, I agree with the idea of being able to afford a longer stay at a value resort. They're more than adequate. They give you the "Disney experience". And, like others have said, we spend very little time, actually at the resorts.

Before the values were around, we used to stay at CBR and loved it. Then through a CM friend (who no longer works at WDW), we were able to try out the Beach Club and also the GF at a very reasonable rate. We loved the Beach Club, primarily for the pool and Beaches & Cream, but I really didn't care that much for the GF. I certainly would never pay full price to stay there again.
Once the values opened, we eventually tried Pop Century, and although it's not my favorite, it was OK. I find all the values to be visually noisy if that makes any sense. Anyway, now when we travel, we're hooked on POR. As long as we're only booking one room, it's well worth the diference in price from a value resort!

we would love to stay at the Polynesian this November....we go to Ohana's every year for dinner and we just love the place. I also love the Wilderness Lodge....I'm a Moose lover!!!! We are considering going for it this year and picking one of them because the twins are 13 and taking them out of school in November is getting more difficult. Staying at the Value's also gives us the extra money for the Cruise where the accomodations are great!!!

Once You Go Deluxe Youll Never Go Back. Its Like The Magic Continues. I Stayed At Wl Villas. It Was So Peaceful. Watching The Water Electrical Parade Was So Nice On The Beach.

I tend to be one of those people that is a "bargain hunter." So, for me, I would likely choose PO (since I personally find it to be as beautiful as many of the deluxes) or the "lower" deluxes (WL or DAKL). The latter are definitely some of the best values on property since they are every bit as nice as the others from a theme and attraction perspective, and the price is lower. However, I am also partial to the Yacht & Beach Club for location and amenities. So, I would use them to "splurge" every few trips! :D

We stay at OKW all the time.

But I love the Contemporary, Polynesian and Wilderness Lodge. Stayed at Wilderness for my honeymoon, and it was great.
