Camp Minnie Mickey
- Over at Camp Minnie Mickey I can see a replica of Grizzly River Runs from DCA but instead of it being a River Rapid, it can be a log flume ride and have animatronics from Brother Bear.
- I think The Festival of the Lion King makes no sense thematically where it currently is, so it can be moved over to Africa and in its place can have a show themed to Pocohantas.
- It would be great to have Mickey's and Minnie's cabins where kids can walk through their campsite and meet Mickey and his pals.

Camp Minnie-Mickey
-Turning GRR into a log flume and giving it a Brother Bear theme may make it too similar too Splash Mountain.
-Perfect. The cabins solve the problems given by the closure of Toontown

I'd rather not theme the log ride to "Brother Bear". It seems to be too obscure a source. And it does seem too much like Splash Mountain.

And as for the cabins, why are we so obsessed with putting characters' homes in a park that is not the Magic Kingdom?

What about a Tangled attraction with the Snuggly Duckling as the ride building with the tower as a meet and greet area for a Tangled area in Fantasyland.

Just because it's obscure doesn't mean that it isn't a viable choice for ride source material. A ride through the Mountain where the Lights Touch the Earth and the Northern lights would be a fine attraction, though probably one that would be better as a headliner for an Ice Age extension of Dinoland.

Well, I still don't think that "Brother Bear" is really viable as an attraction. I just don't think that the public would know what it was. Us Disney nuts might, but not necessarily the public as a whole. Here's what David Koenig had to say about it:

[During the 1970s,] few original attractions were added to either park (Disneyland and WDW's Magic Kingdom). For one thing, there were no classic movies to inspire them. Rides were designed after Robin Hood, Island At the Top of the World, The Black Hole, Tron and others, but the movies proved financial and critical disappointments, and were quickly forgotten. Unlike a film, which can quickly disappear from theaters and live a life of quiet anonymity bridging used car commercials on late night TV, themed attractions remain on stage month after month, year after year, for people to ask, "The Watcher In the Woods ride? What's that?" The subject must endure or be reconfigured to appeal to current audiences.

The stuff in brackets and parentheses were not in the book; I added those in. But the point is, anything we put in should have lasting appeal, and "Brother Bear" hasn't got it.

Some time ago, I mentioned that Pirates of the Caribbean would receive some alterations. And now, I plan to do just that...

This update will be a win-win for both ride fans and movie fans. The ride changes begin even before you reach the entrance. The barker parrot will be returned, though maybe placed under the present black sail outside the entrance that bears the ride's name. Then the real changes start after you get into your bateau and cast off. The Davy Jones waterfall will be relocated to directly above the single waterfall.

Before you reach that, you will hear the "Dead Men Tell No Tales" line accompanied by Paul Frees' "No fear have ye of evil curses..." line, remastered and played by way of a special set of speakers that will be installed to make the voice float around to various points of the room. Meanwhile, before you go past the ghost ship in the storm, you will see a new treasure trove scene similar to other rides out, but in this case, the skeleton would be created by way of an old Pepper's Ghost effect thought of for the ride way back when: http://waltdatedworld.bravepages.com/395dda20.jpg.

Davy Jones (not Blackbeard, but once again, Davy Jones) and his waterfall will become more HD (is that what you would call it?) and that's about it. This waterfall will be relocated directly above the actual waterfall you go down.

This, of course, lands you in the "bombarding the fort" scene. Here, the dialog is almost left alone - "almost" in the sense that any mentions of Jack Sparrow will be removed from Barbossa's dialogue. If edited correctly, there won't be any worry about having to have Geoffrey Rush re-record more lines.

The well scene will lose its current dialogue and return to the old dialogue respectively. Jack will still remain hiding behind the dress-wearing mannequins. The new assumption is that rather than looking for Jack, the pirates are simply looking for the town's treasure. Jack, of course, who obviously isn't a part of the crew (Barbossa is presumably their captain after all) is secretly searching for the treasure himself, thus why he appears to have found it at the end of the ride.

The chase scene will have a very controversial change: The pirates chasing ladies for love... again. That means that the Pooped Pirate will be back in action here, once again holding the frilly pink underskirt and bragging about the woman whom it belongs too. The terrified girl pokes her head out of the barrel and looks around, quickly lowering back down at the sight of the barking dog which grabs the Pooped Pirate's attention. The pirates and the ladies will chase each other around in circles.

What's that? Where's Jack, you say? Well, he's moved to the far left side of the scene. Here, a pirate has fallen asleep in a drunken stupor, the key to the town's treasure vault tightly gripped in one hand, and the map leading to it in his lap. On either side stands a horse and a goat, both in which walk a very sneaky Jack attempt to steal the map and key. Right as Jack is about to get it, the animals make noise, causing him to retract as the pirate makes some horrid noises in the form of snores. Jack goes back and, of course, the animals react. This never-ending sequence is guaranteed to garner a few laughs.

The burning town scene will now have a new sight: a rowboat with two very intoxicated pirates seated in it and filled to overflowing with rum bottles, including some in the water nearby. The fire effect will be made more realistic than ever, as not to allow the shadows of the flapping curtains to appear.

Finally, a brand-new scene will be added. After you go through the treasure room, with Jack seated in it, the old way of disembarking the boat and going up an escalator to leave is now gone for good. Instead, you end the ride the same as in Disneyland: by going up a waterfall! But in this case, the ride's up-ramp will resemble the cargo ramp-type thing used in Paris' version. It's also home to a new version of an old scene: the arsenal, where various intoxicated pirates take potshots at each other, at the guests in the boats and at barrels full of explosives. And instead of just being them singing the classic song, it will involve them speaking like how the pirates in the Disneyland ride speak, when the ride was shown on television:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7uYdPjyfs64 (wait around 7:35).

Once at the top of the waterfall, you disembark from the boat, down a new exit path that still leads into the same POTC-themed shop as before, which will now receive a new name, which will now be "Buccaneer Bazaar". Its selection of pirate-themed items will remain, but expanded to include all things pirate-related, such as swords, eye patches, hats, "hooks", gold doubloons and jewelry. And for good measure, the nearby Tortuga Tavern's menu will be completely revamped. It will now be more health-conscious and specialize in local Florida specialties.

What do you think of it?

Disney Hollywood Adventures

Strangely enough, I was thinking yesterday about how Disney could change DHS into a better park that made more sense, had a good back story, etc. What's funny is that I thought they should also change the name to Disney Hollywood Adventures, and then I read this thread. So I'm all for that. Eliminate the 'studio' aspect and focus completely on the Hollywood aspect. I would say Adventures (pl) as you can create 'lands' as adventure within DHA.

What I would really like to see is a DCA style make-over for DHS, but in the Hollywood theme. Here are my initial thoughts (more to come):

- Keep Hollywood Blvd and Sunset Blvd but remove the hat. It can find another home.
- Theme the area with those two streets under and Old Hollywood theme. Perhaps, Hollywoodland.
- Take the area currently occupied by Sounds Dangerous, the Indy Stunt show, Star Tours and everything inbetween these, and create a Star Wars Adventure. Expand out to gain more room if needed. Keep Star Tours, but include it in the new land.
- Take the New York/Streets of America area and create a Muppet Adventure.
- Ditch the back lot. No studios, no backlot.
- Take the back lot area and add it to Pixar Place. Create a large area that can be used as Pixar Adventure. It could possibly include a Carsland type area.
- Take the production area and water tower area and create a Toon Adventure. Give it the back story of how the toons got into movies. How Mickey & Minnie met, etc. Have them living on a city street, apartment buildings, etc. More of a 'before they were famous' concept.
- Move the magic of animation attractions into the Toon Adventure.
- Take the area from the now vacant magic of animation back to the rock'n roller coaster and create a Villian Adventure. Some how retheme the coaster to fit this theme.
- Take the area of TOT, Fantasic, Theater, and create a Nightmare Adventure. Include Twilight Zone, Nightmare Before Christmas, etc.

Overall Disney Hollywood Adventures would have these 'lands':
- Hollywoodland
- Star Wars Adventure
- Muppet Adventure
- Pixar Adventure
- Toon Adventure
- Villian Adventure
- Nightmare Adventure

Just my intial thoughts!

Some time ago, I mentioned that as part of the Fantasyland overhaul, Peter Pan's Flight will be overhauled too.

Unlike most of the other rides in Fantasyland, this dark ride will feature the least amount of alterations, though it will be altered nevertheless. As with the other rides, the changes start before you reach the ride itself. That medieval tent look of the exterior? Gone! What's there now? An English Tudor-style building looking like this: http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2396/2178336577_6df232bb66.jpg.

Like Disneyland before it, the Darling nursery is visible from a window and several toys can be seen. A crocodile and pirate ship weather vane are also seen, the pirate ship on the clock tower, and the crocodile to the lower right-hand side of the tower. Also, in front of the entrance is a statue of Peter Pan, referencing the statue in Kensington Gardens. This was originally intended for inclusion at DL's ride's entrance as part of the 1983 FYL overhaul, but never was. But now, it has been built!

Inside, the queue area winds around like usual. But once you get to the load area, you'll see even more changes. First of all, while the flying ships will continue to load and unload with the Omnimover system, the chassis for them will be replaced to allow for lighter ships, which now have not one, but two rows to seat four (all versions of the ride will get this). Also, the back of the load area now replaces the different bits of scenery with a big mural. It will be identical in design to the Anaheim version, but with more of an overhead view of Neverland on the one side and another of London on the other. Seen below are two pictures meant to give an idea of the mural. One picture, sampling the London side of the mural, shows Peter Pan, Tinker Bell and the Darling siblings like usual, but in this case, they look something like this (of course, all of the laserdisc stuff will be gone): http://snakemasterproductions.com/picturepile/peter_pan.jpg.

And the other picture, sampling the Neverland side of the mural, displays the mermaids and Capt. Hook's ship. Of course, they won't be in the Mary Blair style; if you can imagine this picture in a regular style, you'll get an overall impression of this part of the mural: http://i42.tinypic.com/2uf7vhs.png.

That's it for the first part; next time, I will go into the ride itself...

Now onto the rest of the overhauled Peter Pan's Flight at the Magic Kingdom...

You board your larger, more expanded pirate ship as it moves slowly through the load area without ever stopping (except for when they may have to help a handicap person get in or out). As you board, you hear the standard recording that says not to lower the safety bar yourself; it will lower automatically, which it does. You then proceed forward above the newly-added rooftops of London and then through a window into the usual first scene of the Darlings' nursery. You go past the scene of Wendy sitting next John and Michael, who are in their beds. You see Peter Pan's shadow on the wall as it flies toward a nearby window as Peter himself is heard saying, "Come on, everybody, here we go!"

You go out the window to the usual "You Can Fly! You Can Fly! You Can Fly!" melody that is heard in this ride like usual. But this time, in addition to the scene of Nana in the yard down below (a new AA version as she can actually be heard barking), you also can look to your left to see a lit window and silhouettes of Mr. and Mrs. Darling disturbed by the racket outside. "What the dickens?" Mr. Darling can be heard wondering. You then go over the usual scene of London, which will have been relatively untouched by the overhaul, save for more convincing effects here, including improved car effects on the streets and even the effect of the Thames' river's water "shimmering" in the moonlight.

You then go past the usual scene of the moon and Peter and the Darlings' silhouettes on it. But this time, they're going in the opposite direction, a more appropriate direction as you head toward the usual scene of the Neverland fly-over. The cannon effect here from Captain Hook's ship is the same, but Hook and Smee's voices have been updated. Hook now says, "Here they come, Mr. Smee! Shoot 'em down!" To which Smee says, "Aye-aye, Cap'n!" and then fires. There is also an appearance by an orange-colored octopus in the water, a subtle reference for the Return To Never Land sequel, the only such reference made in the ride otherwise themed to the original movie. But aside from those, the scene is more or less identical as to how it has always been: same mermaids, same Indians and so on and on. However, the cawing noises made will also be updated to sound more like seagulls.

So anyway, you end this part of the ride by flying over Skull Rock and from there, flying by the usual scene of the ride with Wendy about to walk the plank of Hook's ship, John and Michael and the Lost Boys lashed to the ship mast, the pirates all looking on and Peter and Hook dueling up in the mainbrace. The crocodile waits nearby, ticking away. Swinging around the ship, the pirates are all knocked out and the usual scene of a victorious Peter (now wearing Hook's hat) and the Darling siblings poised at the ship's steering wheel as Peter tells Tinker Bell, "We're sailing for London." The ship now glows a bright shade of gold (in the form of fiber-optics which quickly covers the entire ship). You then see the usual scene of a defeated Hook standing precariously on the crocodile's jaws to avoid going into his mouth (the jaws actually try to scissor shut (with Hook's legs with it)). Hook calls out for help to Smee, who answers from a rowboat.

You then see one last scene before the ride ends: you go through a waterfall and instead of the visuals of the gold-colored ship, you now see a cloud version of it in the London sky, just before the unload area. Across from it is the Darling house and you see Mr. Darling looking at it and saying, "You know, I have the strangest feeling I saw that ship once... a long time ago, when I was very young..." You then head to the unload area and get off to the right.

And that's the new and improved Peter Pan's Flight at WDW's Magic Kingdom.

So what do you think of my ideas for improvements, huh?

I'm afraid most of your ideas seem too fanciful. At least I try to base my updates more in reality.

I never said that my ideas would not take months to complete. I'm just basing them on the "what if" factor.
