I have heard that both Disney and Universal were competing for the Potter rights. I'd like to know what Disney would have done with Potter, and how the competition for the IP went down.

I don't know what Disney would have done, but after seeing what Universal has done with Harry it's hard to imagine what could have done to make it better...from Butterbeer to FJ.... AMAZING!
Both are perfection! I can't imagine Disney having done the FJ the same, and the FJ is amazing!

Technically the Obtaining rights Belong to Warner Bros/JK Rowling..If you seen any merchandise for it you will surely see the WB Shield showing who owns the characters. Before they brought to any park here in the US The Austrailian Theme park called Warner Bros Movie World had an attraction called the Harry Potter Movie Magic Experience. While similar to the Museum tour it had full size sets of different scenes from the movie and other things..

Toy Story Midway Mania type attraction for Harry Potter based on what I gathered in the past. Good thing Universal has Potter instead.
That seems to be the generals story. A copy of Toy Story Midway Mania! with wands, a gift shop and maybe a restaurant.

The contract is specifically with Warner Bros. Consumer Products.

No, no no no. I love how Uni has Harry Potter, but I'd Disney had it..Voldemort would be a princess if Disney had it. Although it would be cool to see a M&G with the HP characters, it wouldn't be the same. You'd have to get someone who looked just like the actors, or fit into the description of how they look like in the book.
I'm very glad that Uni has HP, the Butterbeer, FJ, THE THREE BROOMSTICKS! It's all so awesome there. (When we went to Uni for the 2nd time last year, my first time to WWoHP, we ate at TTB. It was my first time trying fish and chips!)

Oh the memories I have from the Movie Magic experience :D Every time we visit Movie World I bring it up! I hope someday we get Potter back at Movie World, it's Warner Bros biggest franchise and all it has is a shop!

Expedition Harry's Great Escape. It would have been a wonderful and enchanting ride in which Harry is too disabled to reach out to you, so he belches the scent of some type of British delicacy instead. Good times, good times...

God bless the "Ignore" button.
Uni getting the rights is the greatest thing to happen in Orlando since a bunch of fake companies bought huge parcels of land...
But HTF is right; Uni owes all of the current and immediately foreseeable expansions to Potterland.
